Varyag, officially the District of Varyag, is the capital city of the Empire of New Goldman. Founded shortly before the establishment of the Old Republic under the name "Faraday", it was given its current name in honor of American immigrant and priest Tony Varyag, who served as the first mayor of the then small town by the time of the Old Republic. It is situated only 50km from the Gulf of Venera, and is the second most visited city in New Goldman, getting an annual 20 million visitors a year.

The first mention of the city, then under the name "Faraday", was a blueprint for the small-medium sized town that was hand drawn dated October 2 1618, around the year 100 E in recorded Goldmanian history, just before the beginning of the Early Years Era. It was drawn evidently by Dutch urban planner Wilhelm van Caernarvon who immigrated to the then Goldmanian Tribe, hence his name on the top right. It had a projected population of around 60,000 inhabitants. The first buildings were built in this era, including the Wallaran Homestead, the oldest building still in use today (as a museum) in the country. It remained practically the same, until renovations were conducted upon the founding of the Empire in 1718. Old battlements and bunkers from the time of the American invasion still stands preserved today.

The city is divided into 4 different districts, each housing the 4 Classes of Present Day Goldmanian Society: the Nobility, the Rich, the Middle and the Working Classes. They are housed in one of the districts and have their own unique ways of life.

Lemuria District is the smallest of the 4 Districts, but is the richest among them in terms of money. It is made of the residences of the Nortonian Family in the capital, their relatives, friends and the highest ranking members of the government. This area is also highly secured, and outsiders may only enter if invited or otherwise told to do so. According to the latest report, this district is inhabited by no less than 5,000 citizens.

West End inhabits the rich class, and this is also where the majority of the city's industrial might is located. This is 2 times larger than Lemuria District and is the second richest in terms of money, This is where the headquarters of many prominent companies are located, such as Cordial Arms Manufacturing and Norton Imperial Services.

District Fortitude is where the Middle Class is located, and is known as the "Commoner's District". This is where the typical family home is housed, and normal way of life is practiced outside the 2 upper classes. This is the largest of the districts, and makes up the bulk of the population of Varyag as a whole.

And finally, Overlord District houses the Working Class. This is the poorest of the districts. Most houses here are bunched together, but are paid for by the government. Any slum found in the street is to be immediately be given a house in this place. It is also the second most populated among the districts.
