» Overview

Located on the western coast of mainland Milograd, Argyz is the capital of Milograd, and is the nation's largest city. The city is known for being the political capital of Milograd, and the city has gained the title of "most policed city" within Milograd. The city itself is divided into "four" sectors; the southern sector, the northern sector, the central sector, and Mogado Island.

With a population of approximately 3 million people, Argyz is the largest city in Milograd, and the one hundred and second largest city in Gholgoth.

» History

In 1655 the Federation of Milograd had organized a large army in hopes of seizing full control of the Atraezan Continent. Freekish city-states and villages along the eastern coast of Atraeza were engaged by the organized armies of the Federation. The Freeks had been expecting such an attack for several years, as they knew the Federation wished to have control over the whole continent, and were able to withstand the Milogradian assaults.

The Federation had underestimated the Freeks, however, and the organized armies were soon pushed back into Central Atraeza. A bloody war then ensued, and the former Milogradian capital of Ruraka burned to the ground towards the end of the war. Many of Milograd's largest cities were destroyed by the Freeks, and the Federation was forced to relocate its capital to the west coast of Atraeza. Dh'arco Rahavuhra Eyga determined that the lands along the Vorgornic River would be the best place for the Federation to operate its government, and modern-day Argyz was therein established as the Federation's capital.

The next two hundred years saw Argyz expand in size, and during this time the city's population grew rapidly. The outskirts of Argyz were prosperous farmlands, and the heart of the city was a bastion of trade. Most people who could afford to live in the city itself purchased homes as close to the Vorgornic River as possible, yet some Milogradians opted to live in the very center of the city.

The Argyz City Square was built in 1802, and the square became a cultural hub for the city. The square itself is one square mile in size, thus making it the largest "Urban Park" within Milograd. The Hunen Faritua Festival is still held in the city square annually to this day.

The "Fire of Argyz" in 1878 burned the southern sector of the city entirely, and left many homeless. While the exact figures are still unknown to this day, it is believed that over 20,000 men and women lost their lives in the inferno. After months of investigation, it was determined that Auraya Ikuratana, a local worker, had set fire to his home. The fire then proceeded to spread throughout his neighborhood, and eventually expanded further across southern Argyz. Ikuratana was murdered in the city square of Argyz by the Local Police, and his body was then left to rot in the mountains.

The Argyzian factory complexes of the re-built southern sector were created in 1904, and it was at this time that the Milogradian industrial revolution began. The "revolution" itself is said to have been sparked in Argyz, insofar as Milograd's very first factories were built in the southern sector.

Argyz's local police were retired in 1963, and were therein replaced with Resource Initiative Urban Police. There are more Resource Urban Police units present in Milograd than in any other city as of 2011.

In 2011, Argyz was at the heart of the September Protests, and because of this certain parts of the city were scheduled to undergo refurbishment and repair.
