What happens to prisoners who are proven innocent?

If they are not useful, the government will throw them in an incinerator so as not to waste resources on reeducation. The last thing it wants for a prisoner is to go out and spread word that the government unjustly arrests people.

TurtleShroom usually goes the extra mile and gives lifetime annunities. If the innocent was put to death for his crime, the estate gets annuities for a certain period of time, or for the lifetime of the youngest offspring named in the innocent's will.
Further, a miscarriage of justice also waives the state's sovereign immunity, allowing for further, punitive lawsuits.

At one time, TurtleShroom maintained a policy of putting the judge that sentenced an innocent creature to death, to death with him (because there are no juries in TS, so it's all him), but after ninety six occurences of this, it was revoked.

We release them and give monetary compensation for their time spent in prison. We then give them healthcare coverage and good welfare for six months to allow them time to find a job and start putting their life back together. We clear the crime from their record and if they suffered any trauma in prison, we will pay for their therapy until the problem is solved and we will give them a formal apology letter. If they were convicted of murder or rape, they are probably already dead. The best we can do then is to send their body to their families and fund a good funeral. We will make monetary reparations to the family if they would like them and we will make regular payments to any dependents the dead man/woman may have had. We will also establish local committees to determine if there was a way this could have been prevented and then to bring it before the State or Confederal government to be implemented in future cases.
