There is a large history behind these people which may cause confusion. To clarify, the regions are named after the current head of state and the people are kept in line with strict religious views and conditioning. They have been segregated from the rest of the world for a long time, and consequently have developed as such.
IC:
The uninhabited islands were discovered and colonized recently by a colonisation team originating from the region of Jerval. Vinkal who is the only prodigy of his father Jerval subsequently became the ruler of the region when his father passed away. Following in his footsteps and dawning his father’s ancient power armour. Vinkal desired to ascend beyond the great halls of his ancients and seek new land; one fresh and unscaved buy the heavy industries of the elders. Half the subterranean population were left behind due to lack of transportation; those who travelled with Vinkal would be the best of Jervals populace, the most intelligent, the strongest, and the wisest. 5,000,000 strong the colonisation force landed on the new land, a land plagued by strange beasts, but rich in resource. It would not take long for Vinkal to develop, and the zealous colonists began work without hesitation.
