Stats look fine, although you may want to increase the barrel length, and with it the overall length to improve range, and accuracy. That is just my opinion though, and my army is based off of using accurate fire. 1 in 4 men in a regular squad has a battle rifle, and each squad (13 men total) has a sniper as well (one of the men armed with a battle rifle is trained as his spotter).

Looks good, and effective, but it doesn't seem to be very original.

Still, nice rifle. At least it doesn't look like a total AR-15 clone.

Thanks, I'll try to make more original rifles in the future.

What would be an appropriate length?

I am used to having my military use bullpups, so for me my standard rifle on NS has always had at least a 20in barrel. Although as I mentioned my military focuses a lot on having accurate rifles. I really don't think you can make it too much longer, maybe 16-18 inches overall, but even than the rifle would be rather long compared to most other assault rifles.

Also keep in mind that an assault rifle's main purpose is to, well...assault. An overly long barrel is not necessary.

I'm thinking about it being somewhere along the lines of a 15-15.5 inch barrel.

I believe I have found the basis for UAWC's infantry doctrine his weapons are designed solely to be cheap, and somewhat effective in close quarters battle. That is why he uses the 7.62x39mm round, although that still doesn't explain the pistol carbine. Also just a note on UAWC's military doctrine, his armies would get annihilated in any sort of open ground.

AV-9 (Avtomat Vlasjuk - Devjat')
АВ-9 (Автомат Власюк - Девять)

Image

This rifle is the brainchild from the fresh, young and relatively inexperienced, Borys Vlasjuk, an engineer employed by Sich Factories (SZ). It uses a brand new, patented balanced gas operating system, allowing it to fire a 7.62 x 50mm round whilst retaining a level of accuracy described as "superb" in Solyhniya's recent assault rifle tests. The AV-9 looks set to shake up the status quo in the Solyhniyan arms industry and may soon be widely adopted by the armed forces if it continues to succeed in the test phase.

Our weapons are designed, usually, for both power and versatility. This is evidenced in all of our standard issue weapons.

How would our armies be annihilated in open ground? You're making it sound like we don't use longer-range weapons such as battle rifles. Which we do. A lot.

Good, because that's not a tactical doctrine.

I'd say that your weapons are the very antithesis of versatility. Why are you constantly designing new weapons if the ones you already have are versatile? All you should have to to to take on a new role is add a new attachment.

I don't know if its just me, but the pictures above my post seem to have massive magazines. Or exceptionally long ones anyway.

Any comments? Should have stuck with something more like a 6.8?

Well, with the round it uses, that's a battle rifle, so I think a longer barrel is in order. If you want to call it an assault rifle I suggest 6.5 Grendel.

Or, if you want, we can export 7.62x39mmC to your country. It's much more lethal than the M43 and M67 7.62 short because like the 5.45x39, it has a hollowed-out space in the bullet which causes tumbling on impact. And it'l still go through some obstacles and punch right through armor, too.

It's fun, of course. We rarely replace the standard-issue weapons, though. People want to design new weapons, we won't stop them. Sometimes their weapons pass the tests and get awarded production.

I like the idea of using a full sized battle rifle round, which would allow you to defeat armies that are using modern body armour. As for everything else, it seems like an ordinary rifle. Lastly I have never heard of the 7.62x50mm round, are you sure you don't mean the 7.62x51mm NATO.

If they're not standard issue, they don't belong in this thread. Start your own "UAWC has fun" thread.

And designing new weapons "for fun" doesn't justify calling them versatile. your weapons are anything but versatile.

That would be stupid.

These are our main weapons. For each I will describe how they are versatile.

  • AMPS-S11 automatic shotgun - Versatile because it can use many different 12 ga. shells, is extremely modular, and can act either as a combat shotgun or an automatic grenade launcher.
  • CS-RO battle rifle - Versatile because like most standard issue UAWC weapons it is extremely modular (give it a heavier barrel and a bipod and boom, you've got a machine gun) and its bullpup design allows it to be useful in close quarters despite it being a full-size battle rifle.
  • FPMS-3 assault rifle - Versatile because, yet again, it is as modular as the CS-RO, its big brother rifle, and again, you've got an assault rifle that can be used in both medium and short ranges easily.
  • UMP-X300 submachine gun - Versatile because it is the most modular of all Union weapons. The amount of configurations are simply staggering and it can be used as anything from a compact little bullet hose sidearm to a carbine-size heavy duty beast. Only very few of the possible parts are shown in the image.
  • CAAW-9 personal defense weapon - The least modular of our main weapons, but is still versatile because a kit called CK9 exists which pretty much puts it on par with the M4 carbine in terms of versatility.

I've taken some suggestions as well as new G36 parts for a new assault rifle. 7mm British out of 30-round mag, forward RFB-style ejection out of recoil-operated rotating bolt.

As standard to most Soviet troops, minus the grenade launcher. Specific model of AK-74 varies.

You miss the point entirely. Five different weapons are, by definition, not versatile. One weapon that can play all five roles is versatile. An assault rifle isn't quite a battle rifle but in most circumstances, it's good enough. A shotgun or grenade-launcher attachment makes it more versatile. And in most cases, it replaces a submachine gun quite nicely.

We use different weapons in different situations, not one rifle for absolutely everything. However, we want our soldiers to have the training and equipment to use that one rifle for everything if they have to. Our FPMS-3 fits the bill for most missions, but like with all weapons there are times when it simply will not do.

Pro-democracy, pro-NATO, anti-authoritarian. Mostly disinterested in the current political climate. Polarization is the cancer of the body politic.

Glory to Ukraine, glory to the heroes!

I would rather be stuck with a Kalashnikov indoors, then in the mountains with a subgun. It's overall best to have a weapon that performs adequately in all situations, then having several for specific scenarios.

I'm not necessarily saying that you're doing it wrong. Admittedly, we take it to an extreme.

I'm saying that you don't get to brag about a weapon being versatile when you have one for pointing north and one for pointing south.

Our FPMS-3 fits the bill for most missions, but like with all weapons there are times when it simply will not do.

And that's the problem. When it's the only weapon you have, it damn well better do. We have rough terrain (and you claim that you do too) so an infantryman has to carry everything with him. There are no trucks for resupply. If he's lucky, he might get an air drop but as a matter of course, he'd better have what he needs and need what he has. He can't be carrying an artillery piece like your automatic shotgun, along with twenty kilos of ammunition for a few seconds of burp.
