Everything about your gun is weird (not necessarily bad), it has a 27 round magazine when most assault rifles have a 30 round mag, it is bottom ejecting, and it has a lot of wooden parts. A simple way to improve your rifle would be to give it more synthetic parts.

Bottom ejection is not necessarily a bad thing, unless you're firing while running forwards. It could make the weapon more complicated, but otherwise it has no real effect on operation, and makes the weapon ambidextrous, a useful thing in a military weapon. The balance IS a forwards-heavy, though, you might want to shorten the barrel for ergonomics reasons.

The 27 round magazine...isn't a bad thing either, are there extended magazines available? If not, is there some way to strap two magazines together?

I did not say they were inherently bad (except for all those wooden parts that might weigh down the gun), in the case of a bullpup bottom ejection is probably preferred, the 27 round magazine on the other hand is just different, not good, maybe slightly bad because you have 3 less rounds although it is not a real problem, just means a little more reloading.

I haven't got any stats on it yet besides the fact that it fires the 6.5 Grendel. It's a bit of a mix between the HK416, the ACR, and the G36C. I'll have stats up soon.

No comments on how it looks?

Like the round, and the image looks fine. Glad to see someone else like the 6.5 Grendel. If it wasn't for the fact that I was using the R2 advanced combat system than those would be the rounds I use for each weapon usually due to their high ballistic coefficient. Assault rifle we would use the 6.5mm Grendel, for battle rifles we would use the 6.5mm Lapua Magnum, for general purpose machine guns lastly we would use the .300 lapua, for long range sniper rifles.

Thanks! And the Grendel, I really like. I try to use it in all of my past assault rifles but never felt satisfied about it until now.

I shortened the mag a bit since 1) it's a larger bullet (near battle rifle size) and 2) military doctrine calls for magazine sizes to be in powers of three whenever possible as that creates an easy way of keeping track of shots on the prevalent 3-round burst mode. Extended mags tend to be 32 rounds or 81.

And yes, I guess you can replace the wood with synthetic to save weight (parts of the receiver are polymer too), and the lower stock is weighted as a counterbalance.

You save the image, and post it on a site like photobucket, after that you get the link code, and post it in image tags like these [ img][ /img]

I would imagine that a forward-ejecting system like the Kel-Tec RFB has would be simpler and lighter than what you have on that.

But then again, I'll take any opportunity to praise the glorious RFB. It's a forward-ejecting 7.62x51 bullpup that takes FAL magazines, so it's pretty much awesome by definition.

The Byelorussian Military is undergoing trials to possibly replace the B7 line of Assault Rifles.

Presenting the (so far) #1 choice according to top Byelorussian Military Authorities: The Byelorussian BE 805.
Image
In Standard configuration.
Image
In Carbine configuration.
Image
In PDW configuration.
Image
In Designated Marksman configuration.

The BE 805 comes standard with folding iron sights, and a T-POD tactical foregrip (Bipod included). Folding collapsable stock also included on most models.

An official press release from Byelorussian National Arms Company (BENAC):

We are excited to announce that the BE 805 is being considered as the next assault rifle platform for the Byelorussian Socialist People's Military. The BE 805 assault rifle is of modular, multi-caliber design, with aluminum alloy upper receiver and polymer lower receiver / fire control unit. The magazine housing is a separate detachable unit, which can be replaced in the field in the course of caliber change. BE 805 also features quick-change barrels, allowing to change calibers and barrel lengths according to the mission profile (in each caliber there there are short carbine barrel, standard barrel and long "marksman" or "squad automatic" barrel). The basic action uses fairy common piston-operated gas action with manual gas regulator, and a rotating bolt locking. For each proposed caliber, there is a separate bolt with appropriate dimensions. Fire control unit includes ambidextrous safety / fire selector switch, which permits single shots, 2-round bursts and full automatic fire. Charging handle can be installed on either side of the gun, depending on user preferences.
Feed is from detachable box magazines, which are inserted into detachable magazine housing. In standard configuration, the BE 805 will use proprietary 5.56x45 caliber 30-round magazines made of translucent polymer. Other magazine housings will allow use of STANAG or HK G36 5.56mm magazines, as well as various 7.62x39 and 6.8x43 magazines. BE 805 assault rifle is fitted with integral Picatinny rail on the top of receiver, with additional rails running on the sides and the bottom of the forend. Rifle will be issued with folding iron sights, and will also accept a wide variety of additional sighting equipment (red-dot or telescope day sights, night sights, lasers etc). Rifle is equipped with side-folding buttstock, which is adjustable for length of pull, and can be completely removed if maximum compactness is required. We are also currently working on a Squad Automatic version of the BE 805 to supply the BSPM with a variant that is currently not used at all within the BSPM.

Stats:
Caliber: 5.56x45 mm NATO, 7.62x39 M43 interchangeable (6.8x43 Rem SPC proposed in near future)
Action: Gas operated, rotating bolt
Overall length: 910 mm (butt extended)
Barrel length: 360 mm standard, other lengths available
Weight: 3.6 kg (less magazine and accessories)
Rate of fire: ~ 700 rounds per minute
Magazine capacity: 20 or 30 rounds (100 rounds proposed for SAW variant)

The UAWC would like to introduce its new automatic grenade launcher, the AM-090K. It fires 30mm grenades from either a belt or a double-stacked box magazine of 8 rounds. It's selective fire, and when on full-auto it sends 30mm of rock and roll at 360 RPM. It's a heavy weapon, intended for use mounted or with a bipod, but it can also be fired man-portable by a trained soldier fairly easily.

Looks clunky and unwieldy, I would much rather use a Milkor MGL over this. If it were lighter, and more streamline I might consider using yours until it is, I wouldn't use that if I was being attacked by 50,000 Somalis and my only weapon was an empty pistol. Also there is no way that is man portable, personally my army uses the GR-88 Grenade Rifle (sold at Lyran arms) for infantry support (1-6 per platoon depending on the platoons role)

Presenting the (so far) #1 choice according to top Byelorussian Military Authorities: The Byelorussian BE 805.

The CZ 805 assault rifle is of modular, multi-caliber design, with aluminum alloy upper receiver and polymer lower receiver / fire control unit. The magazine housing is a separate detachable unit, which can be replaced in the field in the course of caliber change. CZ 805 also features quick-change barrels, allowing to change calibers and barrel lengths according to the mission profile (in each caliber there there are short carbine barrel, standard barrel and long "marksman" or "squad automatic" barrel).
In standard configuration, the CZ 805 will use proprietary 5.56x45 caliber 30-round magazines made of translucent polymer. Other magazine housings will allow use of STANAG or HK G36 5.56mm magazines, as well as various 7.62x39 and 6.8x43 magazines. CZ 805 assault rifle is fitted with integral Picatinny rail on the top of receiver, with additional rails running on the sides and the bottom of the forend.

 Fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. I have no criticisms to make.

*Sigh*
That's because the pic is a SCAR with a different gas block and magazine, and the writeup is a competently executed modern-day high end AR. It's good, but I wouldn't call it fantastic.

But then, I have high standards.

It's lighter than it looks, since a lot of it is made of polymer. Clunky, yes, it is a bit clunky, but hey, it's a bullpup automatic grenade launcher.

Well technically it's a rebranded Cz 805, but I couldn't get the stock I wanted in PMG so i went with the SCAR one. And to be honest, I have no idea how well it will compete compared to other modern AR's because the Czech gov't is being very secretive of it.
However they have said that it competed against the SCAR in the Czech army trials, and beat it out.

I like the idea of recreating the Val, but why didn't you just use the VSS Vintorez as a base to modify? Isn't it the companion rifle (other than one being used as a sniper rifle) to the Val?

I did use the Vintorez. In fact, I started by converting the Vintorez to a Val, then changing most of the parts. Here's where I got in making the AS Val:

The Val is actually the superior version of the two; the Vintorez is somewhat less accurate and noticeably noisier then the Val

Whereas the AS Kobra, on the other hand...

AV-9 (Avtomat Vlasjuk - Devjat')
АВ-9 (Автомат Власюк - Девять)

This rifle is the brainchild from the fresh, young and relatively inexperienced, Borys Vlasjuk, an engineer employed by Sich Factories (SZ). It uses a brand new, patented balanced gas operating system, allowing it to fire a 7.62 x 50mm round whilst retaining a level of accuracy described as "superb" in Solyhniya's recent assault rifle tests. The AV-9 looks set to shake up the status quo in the Solyhniyan arms industry and may soon be widely adopted by the armed forces if it continues to succeed in the test phase.

Ah! Not trying to be corny here, but that actually is top secret. You could find some similar info on the web, however. I hear that some mythical nation named "Russia" has a rifle with a similar system. Hell they probably copied us...

Presenting the (so far) #1 choice according to top Byelorussian Military Authorities: The Byelorussian BE 805.

 Fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. I have no criticisms to make.

*Sigh*
That's because the pic is a SCAR with a different gas block and magazine, and the writeup is a competently executed modern-day high end AR. It's good, but I wouldn't call it fantastic.

But then, I have high standards.

Fires .280 British from a 27-round mag. Recoil-operated, has a 620mm barrel, ejects from what would look like a SVD magazine, but is actually a casing chute.

If not, is there some way to strap two magazines together?

begin retcon
I shortened the mag a bit since 1) it's a larger bullet (near battle rifle size) and 2) military doctrine calls for magazine sizes to be in powers of three whenever possible as that creates an easy way of keeping track of shots on the prevalent 3-round burst mode. Extended mags tend to be 32 rounds or 81.

And yes, I guess you can replace the wood with synthetic to save weight (parts of the receiver are polymer too), and the lower stock is weighted as a counterbalance.
/retcon

I would imagine that a forward-ejecting system like the Kel-Tec RFB has would be simpler and lighter than what you have on that.

Image

But then again, I'll take any opportunity to praise the glorious RFB. It's a forward-ejecting 7.62x51 bullpup that takes FAL magazines, so it's pretty much awesome by definition.

When I first made it, it was forward ejecting, but now the forward chute just goes downwards.

Looks good, and effective, but it doesn't seem to be very original.

Still, nice rifle. At least it doesn't look like a total AR-15 clone.
