What purpose could it ever serve? It is useless at any long ranges, making it useless as an LMG, and it is far too long to ever use in CQB, where shotguns are generally used as entry weapons.
Moar length for CQB, bayonets man bayonets
1.4 meters? It literally will be bumping into something every time you turn a corner. If you want it to be manly long, make it a short rifle with a 700mm long bayonet or something.
It wont bump into anything if you lift it when exiting a building.
And they are mostly used to blast through walls with steel slugs.
Even if you fire from the hip the rifle will be effectively about 1.2 meters long, still freakishly long, also, why are you shooting through buildings with infantry weapons? If your buildings were made out of glass it would make sense, since you could see the people behind walls, but a long, heavy shotgun designed only for firing slugs through walls is painfully over specialized, and a great way to piss off logistics officers, and the poor saps carrying those guns.
Our civil war proves they just tear people apart.
And it has a long range for a shotgun.
Okay, so the poor bastard stuck with your shot gun must carry his long heavy gun to under 100 within a building, and open fire on it, hoping to god that no one decides to shoot him in the legs to watch his shotgun crush him (for the lulz). Seriously, deploying these guys would be worse than deploying flame throwers in cities, they each are very vulnerable, and must get close to the enemy to engage them. Also, you could simply fire AP rifle ammo at a building, and get the same results, without messing up your logistics, and sending hundreds of soldiers to certain death by giving them a gun bigger than a small child.

We are phasing therm out but at the time it was the only weapon we could produce.
And its 100-150 meters.

Blade bayonets are always better then spike in actual combat however, for muzzle loaders, they severely impair loading. Considering bayonets are not actually used for stabbing as the opponent generally shits his pants and runs before they are stabbed, spike bayonets are more cost effective.

Sword bayonets allow for effective slashing and generally have longer reach and stability to spike bayonets.
Spike bayonets have cost and low weight on their side, and the fact that combat capability of a bayonet is neglible as they are a psychological weapon.

iirc, slashing causes more bleeding than thrusting and more pain than thrusting.
But thrusting causes more organ wounds and generally takes less force per effective attack. Also it tends to utilize the reach of the gun better. I would suggest a knife bayonet mid size (9 inches) , triangle shape, for good balance, and turn on its side with the socket being a loop on it's cross guard. Also I should note that the bayonet hilt should designed for durability. Also, I think you should issue the bayonet with blunt edeges so the soldier can design or not sharpen to there preferences.

Stabbing generally fails to incapacitate the adrenaline pumped victim unless the blade hits something vital.
If you slash someone, you are more likely to cut through tendons, arteries, nerves and muscles, restricting their mobility and causing more pain and bleeding.
And you don't risk getting your bayonet stuck
You can leave your open easier with slashing and you can also get something stuck if you miss and also your blade can also get stuck when your slashing. Also, there are plenty of places that are necessarily life of death vital in which stabbing can drop someone like a stone (Kidneys) also generally slashing is more exhausting and if you wear yourself fighting someone before killing someone your are screwed. Trust me I know, I cut and stabbed stuff with spears swords, hatchets, axes and knives. Slashing is great for multpile melee combat but thrusting is was more effective one on one
