would that be such a bad thing, granted they won't be able to hold out during a stand up fight but when you can pin your enemy down at twice their effective range it makes it hard for them to fight back. used with the right tactics an army of snipers would devistate most infanty formations. the problem is when it comes to urban warfare where ranges are measured in at most tens of metres. so as long as he's not planning to fight in any built up areas he'd stand a chance. just remember if you're ever going to attack him to stay in the cities where all his advantages will be thrown out the window lol

Your forces would be raped in CQB. The attachments would make your guns heavy and cumbersome. Also you can kill enemy soldiers at whatever range you want, but once you get into the 100 meter and under range your scopes and bipods will just get in the way. Even my National Militia has started using Questers' shortened version of the FGR chambered in 8x65mm Anglo for CQB.

Great, now instead of a heavy scope he has a slightly less heavy laser sight that tells everyone where he is aiming, and possibly giving away his position, he also has a foregrip as well, just to add additional weight to the rifle to make up for the weight he removed by taking away the scope. Also laser sights aren't that useful at long ranges. If he wants long range accuracy, and decent CQB capabilities, than just add a smaller scope, and drop the bipod.

Skurður Skammbyssa 67 machine pistol

Weight:2.4 lb(1.09 kg) empty
Length: 670mm/820mm, 470mm/620*
Barrel length: 200mm
Caliber: 9x19mm
Cartridge: 32 rounds standard
Action: open bolt, blowback
Rate of fire: 1,150 rounds/minute
Muzzle velocity: 550 m/s
Feed system: 20-32 round detachable magazine
Effective range: 112, 275 meters
Side notes:

*A secondary add-on barrel can be screwed on the original barrel, giving it increased accuracy and range. In addition, the secondary barrel also has a compensator, lowering recoil and increasing accuracy further.
Design: The SS 67 uses an open bolt, blowback-operated design. The open bolt design exposes the breech end of the barrel, and improves cooling during periods of continuous fire; however, it means that since the bolt is held to the rear when cocked, the receiver is more susceptible to contamination from sand and dirt ingress.

The weapon is constructed primarily from stamped sheet metal, making it less expensive per unit to manufacture than an equivalent design machined from forgings. With relatively few moving parts, the SS 67 is easy to strip for maintenance or repair. The grip is fitted with a grip safety, making it difficult to fire accidentally. The SS 67 features a bayonet lug.

When the gun is de-cocked, the ejector port closes, preventing entry of dust and dirt. Though the SS 67's stamped-metal receiver is equipped with pressed reinforcement slots to accept accumulated dirt and sand, the weapon can still jam with heavy accumulations of sand in desert combat conditions when not cleaned regularly.

Nice design! Change the mag though, please :D

P.S. And you could also do with sorting out the barrel, mag layer and adding another sight, though I can do this for you if you have the code lying around.

And once again, caseless ammunition has been practical since the 1840's.
Welcome to 1938.

I thought ten thousand swords must have leaped from their scabbards to avenge even a look that threatened her with insult. But the age of chivalry is gone. That of sophisters, economists, and calculators has succeeded; and the glory of Europe is extinguished for ever.

Huh. I thought he meant a red dot scope, but I was being optimistic.

And a foregrip replacement.

But in the 1840's they weren't using automatic caseless weapons, they were using bolt/lever action, meaning there was time for the components to cool between each shot.

Simply switch out the barrel and chamber every 100 rounds or so.

I was thinking of using a biphenyl coolant for my SAW's, but I don't want coolant sloshing around in my assault rifles, so a quick-change barrel's probably a good idea.

Rate of fire: 800 - 980 rounds per minute
Length: 30 inch (42 with bayonet)
Weight: 8.5 lb
Barrel Lenght: 24 in
Automatic/ Semi automatic.
Effective range: 600m
Maximum Range: 1100 yards
Magazine: 30 round

Pimping.^ Needs some rail space at the bottom. Also, the effective range would be a bit larger since the M16 has a 20 inch barrel and can acheive effective range of 600 meters.

would that effect the Maximum range? 800 be good for effective?

Way too high. I thought the effective range of the M-16 was 550m, if it is than 600 meters should be good, if it is 600, than make it 650 or something.

^Nevermind. I mixed up 600yd with meters so your originasl estimate is correct.

lol, it doesnt help when i also mix up yards and meters. so i will keep it at 600m. anything else needed chance on stats? im going to putting railings on rifle soon

Put the scope in the middle of the rail space so it wouldn't block the usage of the rear sight.

Welcome to 1938.

I thought ten thousand swords must have leaped from their scabbards to avenge even a look that threatened her with insult. But the age of chivalry is gone. That of sophisters, economists, and calculators has succeeded; and the glory of Europe is extinguished for ever.

I see no problems there, except you might want to qualify the effective range by adding (volley) to it.
Add a 17/18inch socket spike bayonet, and you're good to go.

I thought trained minute men could get off quite a few shots in a minute, like 6-12?

If I remember correctly, it takes about 30 seconds for a trained soldier to reload, and that was in the Civil War

Fully trained soldiers could fire roughly three shots a minute, so once every twenty seconds. During the Civil War, rifled muskets such as the Federal forces employed en masse were accurate to around one hundred yards. Later, when the Springfield model was modified to a breech loading unit, it had a rate of fire of ten rounds a minute.

Ok, thanks for the clarification, Revolutionary-Civil War era aren't really my expertise, I was watching a show forever ago and thought it said something crazy like that.
