Bottom of the stock. I kinda messed that one up a little...

That seems like more trouble than it's worth, since there are other, simpler ways to make ambi-dex bullpups.

I'm sure, but with the way that the clip is placed in there it wouldn't necessarily work, as in it won't look right

I believe he got the idea from my bullpup that I posted earlier. It actually isn't that difficult, I don't feel like going into detail right now though.

Form<Functionality. That said, it might, but you could always move that too. It just seems like a complicated system that could be replaced with a simpler one with no performance detriments.

Its really not that complicated, its not any more likely to jam than a standard configuration firearm, and the jam that would be most likely (empty casing stuck due to bolt slamming forward early) is solved simply by pulling back the charging handle.

There is a chute that as the bolt pulls the empty shell back it drops the casing down the chute, then pushes forward chambering a new round.

I did actually. I loved several aspects of the gun that I placed into the one I made.

Again, it doesn't offer any advantage, and I would be willing to bet it would jam more often. Not to mention being more expensive.

Again, it doesn't offer any advantage, and I would be willing to bet it would jam more often. Not to mention being more expensive.

Makes it ambidextrous and doesn't throw brass anywhere, it just drops it straight down, so you don't have to worry about hitting someone else, or giving your position away, etc. And how would it jam more often?

I like my weapons to be realistic for today's modern world. A caseless rifle isn't feasible as a service weapon in modern times. Yes, they have them, but the technology is too new to be a frontline military issue weapon. I know this is NS and people are just like "omg its caseless who cares if it'd work" but I like to try and make my stuff feasible and realistic for today's world.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heckler_and_Koch_G11

The Heckler & Koch G11 is a non-production prototype assault rifle developed during the 1970s and 1980s [...] The rifle is noted for its use of caseless ammunition.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caseless_ammunition

Caseless ammunition, in the broad sense, is not a new concept.

During World War II, Germany began an intensive program to research and develop a practical caseless ammunition for military use, which was driven by the rising cost of metals used to make cartridge cases. The Germans had some success, but not sufficient to produce a caseless cartridge system during the war.

Yet no production rifle has ever utilized it, I wonder why?

I'm familiar with the history of caseless ammo, at least somewhat. The technology is still too new to make a reliable, affordable system.

Because the reunification of Germany and the dissolution of the Warsaw Pact eliminated the need for the Bundeswehr to adopt weaponry more advanced then that of their Eastern enemies and spend as much money on defence, leading them to cancel the G11. Eventually, the G36 was selected because it was cheaper. In the same way, nations like the US, UK or France are no longer engaged in a Cold War, thus eliminating the need to continually update frontline systems; after all, can you name a single attempt to update armaments in a large way that doesn't date from the Cold War? Without a military confrontation, there's no need to spend money on replacing weapons systems; hence the cancellation of projects like XM8, and the continued use of old rifles like the AR-15 family and FAMAS.

Besides, the action being proposed here is completely unreliable and incredibly complicated; if you're going to adopt a complicated mechanism, you might as well take a reliable caseless one (note that the G11 was praised for its reliability, contrary to your claims).

I said reliable, affordable system. Reliable the G11 was, the latter is was not.

Also, I've explained how the ejection system works, its not that complicated, it makes logical sense, and there is nothing that would suggest any less reliability than a conventional weapon system.

After setting up production lines, you'll find that the cost goes down.

As for the ejection system, the bullet could jam whilst transferring from the bolt to the chute. If it does, it would be a nightmare to remove.

Why don't you just stick an ejection port on the weapon?

Why? Telescopic sights are next to useless at close range. Surely it'd be better to issue a wide range of sights across your military?

And why a folding bipod? The same space could be used by, say, a forwards grip for increased stability in other firing positions, or small support weapons like UGLs.

Welcome to NS.

I'm not grasping where you're saying it would jam. The most likely jam I could think of that would be unique to this design is the bolt slamming forward early, crushing the empty casing up against the edge of the chute. But pulling back on the charging handle would cause the casing to drop, solving the problem. Care to explain what kind of malfunction you're talking about?

Valid points. The laser sight will become the new standard following military legislation. The bipod will remain, as a foregrip can (and will) be placed behind it, and 40mm grenades are being phased out in favor of high-caliber grenade rounds.

Cartridge: 6.5 Grendel
Action: Lever-delayed blowback
Rate of fire: 800 - 980 rounds per minute
Length: 30 inch (42 with bayonet)
Weight: 8.5 lb
Barrel Lenght: 24 in
Automatic/ Semi automatic.
Effective range: 600m
Maximum Range: 1100 yards
Magazine: 30 round

Pimping.^ Needs some rail space at the bottom. Also, the effective range would be a bit larger since the M16 has a 20 inch barrel and can acheive effective range of 600 meters.

would that effect the Maximum range? 800 be good for effective?

Way too high. I thought the effective range of the M-16 was 550m, if it is than 600 meters should be good, if it is 600, than make it 650 or something.

^Nevermind. I mixed up 600yd with meters so your originasl estimate is correct.

lol, it doesnt help when i also mix up yards and meters. so i will keep it at 600m. anything else needed chance on stats? im going to putting railings on rifle soon

Put the scope in the middle of the rail space so it wouldn't block the usage of the rear sight.

To weigh in on the caseless thingy, caseless ammo (or near enough) has been around since the Dreyse Needle Gun. Paper cartridges burn up in the breech=no need to eject them.
