It was only used once, in 1981, against a collaborator during the war from 1972-1980. His name was Vilhemo Franz (no relation to Prince Jozef I) and provided intelligence to the foe. The method used was execution by firing squad. Alongside him, in 1983, in absentia, the Supreme Court set the punishment of execution by firing squad for the dictator of Dainarén, Erán, for high treason against the Principality, but died nearly twenty years later without ever being caught.

Collaboration and High Treason against the Principality is the only crimes when the death penalty is used, but even then, we rarely use it. High treason is invasion, while treason is rebellion, punishable by life in prison.

Why was English adopted as an official language of Montogranda?

Due to our nation's proximity to Zaras (on a clear day, from Amikeco, one could see the island of Kaura), more and more locals were getting exposed to English, especially due to ZTV being broadcast here (in English and Esperanto), and thus, in 2002, to ease headaches in travel, Prince Jozef II named English an official language, alongside Esperanto.

Needless to say, the older generations of locals were not impressed, and often sarcastically call it "Zaras West."

Our King has reviewed your nation and with great disappointment, has declared it undemocratic, and a regime that violates the most basic human rights.

OOC: Aye.

Does your nation believe strongly in God?

Is your nation Christian? If so, then what Christian denomination does your nation belong to?

80% of us are Roman Catholic, but we have no official religion. 14% follow Lutheranism, 1% follow other denominations. The remainder is Buddhism, at 3%, Islam at 1.5% and Judaism at 0.5%. From 1968 to 1975, Roman Catholicism was an official religion, but by a decree by the Prince on September 26, 1975 (AMP 89), declared Montogranda a secular nation.

During the time Roman Catholicism was an official religion, it still tolerated other religions. So, in a nutshell: our government is not Christian, but most of our people are.

On the coast, it has a Mediterranean climate. As you go inland, it becomes continental, and then alpine. The high temperatures and low temperatures vary from Province to Province, but the most common form of precipitation is rain and snow.

Which version of Esperanto does Montogranda use? And what is its stance on attempts to reform Esperanto to address some of its criticisms?

Our form of Esperanto is officially what Zamenhof devised. However, since the 1980s, it has been borrowing loan words from English, due to Zaran influence. Our stance, according to the Academy of Standard Esperanto (Esperanto: Akademio de Normala Esperanto), a government body created in 1970, is that "it needs to evolve like a normal language, but at the same time, we don't need to worry about reformers. If they gain influence, we'll change. Otherwise, we don't."
