Ministry of EducationFact time!
*SC's Historian takes a tobacco pipe*
''This time's topic - New Guinea, and its surrounding isles. There were plans by the Dutch to eventually give Western Guinea independence, and so had Australians. However, those plans never came to reality, because of the SC's arrival - it took longer to get there than the British Home Isles, but eventually New Guinea, and surrounding isles firmly came under SC's control. Of course, Papuan People were not okay with this, and waged partisan warfare in the jungles, and mountains. At first, only the eastern part of New Guinea was occupied by SC, but western part, which was previously owned by the Dutch, became a part of the disputed zone. However, later on, SC moved in, and occupied the Western New Guinea as well, establishing it as a part of the Pacific Frontier, in order to be closer proximity to Indonesian isles for naval operations in disputed zone.''
''Indigenous rights for the most part weren't the priority of the Pacific Frontier's government, as state companies often were given free hands in the region, to extract resources when needed, and government organized penal expeditions in the jungle against resistance, and Pacific Frontier even built some internment camps on some of the more remote isles. Those were often combined by the attempts of ''civilizing'' the Papuan tribes, and SC's missionaries took a large part in it. In result, various battle rituals, and other traditions were changed by SC's Christian missionaries, as native autonomies weren't a thing back then, and indigenous beliefs were slowly replaced by Christianity. However, most of them still retrained their languages, and other customs. In fact, Christianity there often has its own local, distinguishing elements. In either way, clarity about the New Guinea's future, and delegation of more powers to natives happened only in the 2030s - way after the reformist period, and long after the ''Native Governance Act'' in South America. Islands like New Britain, and New Ireland weren't included in the New Guinea region for a while, however, and were still directly administrated from Canberra - the capital of Pacific Frontier. (Now Australasian Confederation)''
''During the Scramble for the World, some Papuan divisions were recruited by SC's government to fight off partisans in Indonesian jungles, and islands, as SC was moving in the former disputed zone. However, they were mostly used as an assist troops, and their deployed numbers weren't high. Weapons, with which those soldiers were supplied with, usually weren't from the best quality either, and in some cases, local tribal leaders actively resisted the conscription of the jungle, and mountain tribes.''
''Despite the years of oppression by local SC's government, New Guinea still is one of the most ethnically, and linguistically diverse places in SC's world, and some of its tribes still haven't been fully contacted yet, despite SC's attempts of doing so, as New Guinea's jungles, and mountains are quite a maze - in fact, it is one of the most ecologically diverse places in the world as well, as a lot of the species in the world live only there, and SC's scientists haven't fully understood all the aspects of it yet. For those tribes, who SC already has contacted, however, it has tried to implement a regional system similar to other regions - some Papuan tribes already have adapted SC's autocratic oligarchy, while others have a strongman with lots of power in hands - those yet to have develop the bureaucratic system. In result, New Guinea has been turned into one of the most politically divided regions, due of the immense amount of regional autonomies in the system.''
