Hello humans. I am Sporekin, specifically a European Umber-Brown Puffball (or more formally, Lycoperdon umbrinum). Ask me anything.

It looks steampunk but it's not. Just a plain ol' degueldre.

After building on C-P's generous improvements, I've designed an upgrade to the Zr.64 which is still meant to be in service. I don't have any more than basic stats, but if anyone has the time to critique the image I would be very grateful :D

Alright, I took the time to try my hand at line arting. Uber rough image, I know, but I'm more worried about weapon proportions, So...

Is the sword long enough? I can't decide.

The sword's taper looks way to sharp, and I'm pretty sure that it's too long in regards to the hand axe (assuming that the smallest axe is a throwing axe). a picture of a hand axe and sword together. Here's the article that it's from. Lots of good info there. Also, the spear head looks too wide. Here's a look at what a hewing spear may have looked like, and I'm pretty sure that most spears would have been about that wide as well.

Depends what your going for, long, short, two handed, or hand and a half. looks about right for a mid sized sword, closer to a short sword than a long sword.

Ah okay, good good thank you both. It is spatha one handed type. Might need to go back and retaper Shorter blade. Spear is a bit wide, now does anyone know how width v.s. lengeth affect spear heads? Need to figure what the optimal size is.

I'd imagine that wider spear heads would have more trouble penetrating armour, while narrower ones would fair better against it. On the other hand, wide spear heads would probably be better at slashing than narrower heads. Here's 4 different kinds of spear heads, the smallest being 38cm long. It and the second from the top are probably the best at piercing armour, while the bottom two are more general purpose. Here's the article that its from. Again, a lot of good info there.

I don't however I do know it depends on what its going to be used for, stabbing or cutting? Cutting were generally longer, while stabbing usually meant thicker. However I'm certainly no expert in this mater.

Well the sword seems to be for thrusting past a shield altought they cut a great deal more then Romans, the Vikings hand many diffrent types of spears, some were for only thrusting and some were almost Naginatas in length.

Yeah, I was using that for the drawing. Maybe I should issue diffrent kinds?

If you plan on having a set standard for each weapon, then a single type of spearhead is probably a better idea, since it makes it easier for the smiths to fill your orders. On the other hand, if you don't havw a set standard, then you could have any of a dozen or more spearheads, each depending on what the user wanted and what the smith could produce.

Vingtor what type of armor are you planning of fighting up against? Because less armor means more hacking and slashing techniques, more armor leads to more thrust attacks with the point.

The spear looks better now, but I've just noticed that the grip seems a bit long for the type of sword you're aiming for. It should be just long enough for someone to grip it, and no longer.
