It's fairly easy to climb onto something smaller than your own height, especially with all the hand and footholds a tank's running gear will provide.

I am starting a Kit sheet for a PMC member defending one of my overseas facilities.
Image
So far I have drawn:
-7.62mm NATO Rifle (Primary weapon varies from member to member)
-160 7.62mm NATO rounds (8x20) (Ammo varies from member to member depending on weapon)
-Folding multi-tool (pilers, 75mm blade, screw driver, can/bottle opener, etc...)
-3 Grenades (smoke, frag, flash, incendiary)
-ID Tags (Dog tags)
-Notebook and Pen
-Cable ties
-Collapsible baton

Very nice, but:
1) needs moar ammo! AFAIK soldiers don't just carry magazines of ammo, they'll have extra ammo in boxes to bomb-up in the field.
2) Bungie cords!

Went to the gun show yesterday. It was not the best thing ever. I saw only Century-made AK variants. One guy let me look at a (slightly over-priced) AMD-65 AK. The button for the folding stuck was located under the receiver behind the pistol grip (and you thought AK ergonomics couldn't get any worse!) and had a pretty stout spring. I had some difficulty with it, but decided "screw it, let's just look at the sights now that the stock's unfolded." I checked for sight cant. Front sights being crooked is repairable. The entire rear sight trunnion on this rifle was crooked: that is irreparable. He asked if I was interested in it, and I just did a "Nope." and put it back in its box.

At the same table, I was looking at a nice Romanian PSL. I was tempted to buy it, but I'd have to haggle the price some since it was $700 and I had a bit over $650 on me. Another fellow came up and asked if I was looking at it (fellow gun show attendee). I said, "Yeah, but feel free to go ahead and look it over if you like. I'm just kind of looking over it." He proceeds to pick it up, handles it, says, "This is exactly what I've been looking for!" and purchases it all within eight seconds. :(

So off I go to another table: I was looking for 30-round or 20-round AK-47 magazines. I got to a table that had three smoothback Chinese mags rubber-banded together with a price tag that said $25.00. I looked them over, picked 'em up, and the booth owner walked over and said, "Yep, those are some nice ChiCom AK magazines. Very good stuff." I'm thinking, they're only the most common magazine you'll ever ecounter... So I started pushing the followers down into the magazine body with my finger to test the springs and he said that, if a spring was bad, go to (website I forget) and you can order some new ones. I was thinking it was odd that he'd even hint he could have defective springs. I know how to repair a snagging follower, though, so I wasn't concerned with replacement parts. Either way, I said, "Alright, I'll buy all three of these for $25.00." He looked at me and said, "No. It's $25.00 per magazine." I said, "Well, you have fun with that" and left. :lol2:

One of the guys who came with us to the show (the driver, actually) bought some nice stuff. He got himself a few Chinese SKS bayonets and two Chinese SKSs to put them on. One of the guys he bought an SKS off of was showing him his gunshot wound. My father was there and asked, "Well, how the heck did you get shot?" The guy put his hand on the grip of the GLOCK he was open-carrying and said, "Drawin' this thing out of the holster while teaching a weapons handling class." Great GLOCK advertisement right there (and some legit "I'm the only one professional enough" referencing with his actions?).

Anyway, my friend (driver) also bought a USMC-model ACOG for the 14.5" M4 to put on his 16.1" Colt SP6920. The difference in velocity between those two barrel lengths is quite minimal, so he's not too worried about it. If it presents a problem, he can just cut his 16" barrel down to 14.5" and permanently attach his flash hider to it making it a 16" barrel in the eyes of the Almighty BATFE.

What did I purchase, anyway? Well, I got a P38 magazine that I've been needing for my holster for quite a while, and I bought a reproduction Hitler Youth knife. It was $19 and came with a scabbard, and my original HY knife is missing its' scabbard... Sounded decent enough to me. Aside from that, I remembered New Corda's infamous words; ChiCom SKSs are the suckzors hard lawl wut." -- Paraphrased.

That being said, expect a new review eventually...
Image

Also, for the lawls, here is my AK-103 clone's current "before and after" set-up.

FAKE EDIT: So why this massive-ass post that doesn't pertain to much in this thread? I'll tell you, by God. Now that I have some real-world military... things that are somewhat commonly chosen, I can give a legit opinion on. SKSs, ACOGs, set-ups for AK variants, and things like that. Through my near-orgasmic time shooting and using all of these things testing these items, we will all learn something valuable that can be applied to our epic linearts. 8)

Bang bang.

The rifle grenade is meant to be fired from the shoulder, despite being somewhere around a kilogram in weight. Just means you need to keep a stiff upper lip as your arm pops out of the socket.

Is it clip loading? (looking at the second from bottom)

It appears to be like the Vz-58: magazine-fed, but able to load magazines via stripper-clips when inserted into the weapon. Interestingly enough, if the M1 Carbine had stripper clip guides (and an automatic hold-open), it, too, could exercise this ability. Since it does not, though, you have to manually lock the bolt back and then you can load a magazine one round at a time. Still nice to do if you don't have but one magazine for your M1 Carbine.

It can be. Miltiamen carry two magazines and 32 5-round chargers on their ILBE. SAW assistants carry 40 5-round chargers tho.

You're welcome to carry 8 >100mm wide magazines.

Just know that it emasculates you.

I don't like that it tapers at the bottom, cause I've never had a knife like that. At least, not one that was comfortable.
