How did it do it thou? And could something like that be done for modern rifles? Obviously omitting the oiling brush part. And what is a stripper cartrige...

EDIT: Wait a second. A stripper cartridge would not happen to be a stripper clip inserted into a fixed, non removable box? How would that.... even more driven crazy.

Purpelia does not reflect my actual world views. In fact, the vast majority of Purpelian cannon is meant to shock and thus deliberately insane. I just like playing with the idea of a country of madmen utterly convinced that everyone else are the barbarians. So play along or not but don't ever think it's for real.

The cartridges have to be oiled, if I read that thing right. There's a reason the system isn't used now; you could probably make a modern rifle with it, but it wouldn't be much good.

Does this stock look sufficiently beefy to handle a 14.5mm round?

From what I understand thou that was because the thing had no extractor. And besides at this point I am just going "WTH how did that thing even work?"

I'm honestly no sure how it was done. i suspect that the strip was not advanced on the opening stroke of the mechanism so the bolt travel probabaly just pulled the round straight back into place on the strip at which point the strip advances and the next round gets fed forwards into the chamber.

Strip feeding uses a long strip of metal like this:

http://static.flickr.com/3192/2644154777_66d34ec4a6.jpg

That gets advanced by the mechanism to bring the roudns into place. First appeared in the hotchkiss Mgs IIRC and spread amoungst nations with a perchant for oddness (i.e. the italians) or for ripping off hotchkiss guns (the japanese).

You could do it witha mdoern rifle if you prepared to put up with the hellishly fickle nature of strip feeds

Something tells me that this thing actually moves forward through the weapon and comes out the other side... And that sort of seems to undermine any benefit gained from not ejecting casings.

Tonight I decided to take a look at one of the gun magazines they have in the local super market near my house, after just getting home from a long trip.
Why does everything have to be rails and tacticlolness rather than reliability, cheap cost, and innovation? :(

I want just about any rifle that isn't a .22.
Although a tactic-bastardized American-made AK "pistol" was the main gun in the magazine...

Very likely, given that you're post-WWI. Air-cooled MGs have been primary armament for most non-tank ground vehicles for forever.

Then possible, but unlikely. Water-cooled was the name of the game in the Great War.

What you're viewing there is an AR-15 with an aftermarket piston kit.

I don't see much wrong with it, seeing as how it appears to add modularity while still maintaining performance.

I also shortened that link to look at the rest of the site. Accidentally clicked "last page," and saw this: http://www.gunslot.com/reviews/ak-47-review

What in the fuck? I don't even know what to say. Not just the review, but the comments. Holy Christ. My favourite was the guy stating "My WASR is awesome: it keyholes at 50m and gets 2MOA."

Please, baby Jesus, let this be sarcasm.
