The Human Development Index (HDI) is a measure of the average standard of living within a nation. (OOC, it's used by the UN IRL.) It combines life expectancy (indicator of health), education (indicator of knowledge) and GDP (indicator of prosperity).

It's purely statistical, so it's completely objective.
