iirc they made the Type 10 light for that reason with allot of soft-ground and old bridges.

This is true :<

I'm pretty sure export T-72s have powered turrets (even comically 'overpowered'--there's footage of a Syrian T-72 right before being hit by a AT weapon turning its turret comically fast, way faster than handcranking could do). I thought Iraq's Lion tank had to make due because it was a deliberate attempt at indigenous production, rather than relying on full tanks from the USSR/CIS. Since the original T-72M had been used in the Iran-Iraq war, and not replaced, were Lion tanks more common by the Gulf War?

There is not much point in a conventional gun armed TD. LOSATs, CKEMs and XRODs hit harder than a gun could ever dream.

140mm ETC is already over the hump of diminishing returns.

Flexibility. A gun armed TD doubles as a good assault gun and stuff. A missile tank is just a one trick pony.
Also, at least in my case the TD's gun fires ATGM's for tank hunting (among other things). There are few things as scary as a 22cm top attack missile fired at the pace of a decent autoloader.
Purpelia does not reflect my actual world views. In fact, the vast majority of Purpelian cannon is meant to shock and thus deliberately insane. I just like playing with the idea of a country of madmen utterly convinced that everyone else are the barbarians. So play along or not but don't ever think it's for real.

Was Pz.Kpfw. IV EVER classified as heavy tank? Because there are couple guys who argue against me that it was classified as such at one point.

AFAIK, it never was. That was reserved for tanks in the Tiger's weight class, and even the much heavier Panther was only in the blurred zone between the two. The much, much lighter Panzer IV was not even close to a heavy tank in armament, armor, mass, or performance.

I think that's a T-80BV with the side skirts and turret ERA removed. Perhaps going to be scrapped for the CFE Treaty? T-80 tanks are famous for this sort of thing. Not very useful, perhaps, but cool all the same.

I would say, "a really big ATGM." If they can build a tank and have it move, they sure as hell can build an ATGM that can kill it.

You belong to an elite syndicate of Street Tankers, who break the law everynight to put their metal where there mouth is in tank-racing circuits. Tanks, from world-war-one to the modern day, are ticked out like sports cars, given elaborate, custom paintjobs, and after-market parts, including nitrous-burning turbines, jet-thrusters on the ottom to give tanks 'jumping' ability, new armors, laser designators, etc. Street Tankers compete for valuable prizes, including new guns and other parts to upgrade their tanks in whatever ways they see fit.

Instead of police chasing you, its Tank Destroyers, and instead of Heliocpters just keeping an eye on you, they shoot missiles at you too. Instead of Spike Strips, its AT mines, and hitting cars is even more like a speed bump than before.

Are you a bad enough dude to win the Patton Circuit and take home the gold?
