I'm pretty sure export T-72s have powered turrets (even comically 'overpowered'--there's footage of a Syrian T-72 right before being hit by a AT weapon turning its turret comically fast, way faster than handcranking could do). I thought Iraq's Lion tank had to make due because it was a deliberate attempt at indigenous production, rather than relying on full tanks from the USSR/CIS. Since the original T-72M had been used in the Iran-Iraq war, and not replaced, were Lion tanks more common by the Gulf War?
