National infrastructure? Good luck with that.

Most of the major highways and freeways in Gawdzendia are ten plus lanes across already, and never sit above the ground for a combination of 'nothing to get in the way' and a really old political argument.

I'm having trouble however, of finding out the weight displacement of just the crawler alone, or even the total area of the tracks. Mulching up the highways would not be an ideal end result of moving this thing.

This is very much a work in progress, but I present to you the MkIXMdlH "Constance" Main Battle Tank

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/29218112/MKIXMdlH.png

For a sense of scale, the woman standing next to it is 170cm tall

Stats:
Length of hull: 7.95 meters
Length w/ turret forward: 10.6 meters
Height to commander's turret: 2.6 meters
Width w/ skirts: 3.75 meters
Weight: 63 tonnes
Crew: 4 - Commander, Driver, Gunner, Loader

Main gun: 120mm smoothbore
Coaxial: 7.62mm machine gun
Commander Turret: 50cal machine gun
Loader Turret: Soon to be 7.62mm machine gun

Questions, comments, statements of outrage are all appreciated.

O_o Did you model that running gear by yourself? If so, how long did it take?
The turret reminds me of a Leo 1 combined with a T-34 and... something else I can't identify for sure. Seems to be a bit narrow, however.

Other than that - welcome to the forum, I guess. :-)

Yep, every bit of this tank was made by me, from the turret to the pins in the tracks. The running gear took about a day of researching and planning and a few other days modeling it, so I would say around 4 days I suppose. Give or take a day or two. To be honest, it still needs a lot of work and I'll probably end up redoing the damn thing.

And good guess actually. I really like the the look of the Leo 1 so I tried to give it the same sort of feel, but I wasn't thinking about the T-34 when planning this. Now that I look at the two, though, I do kinda see the resemblance...

As for the turret, I thought the same thing, but have been reluctant to change it. Sadly I'm more of an aesthetic kinda guy than I am practical. But if consensus says I should change it, then change it shall.

Also, two more pics:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/29218112/MkIXMdlH_Front.png
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/29218112/MkIXMdlH_Top.png

Fun fact: "MkIXMdlH" isn't just a bunch of numbers and letters thrown together. It actually represents the number of tank models I've been through up to this current one (IX or 9) and the version of this particular model (H referring to 8.)

Probably 'Model', similar to Germany's 'Ausf' designation.

I think I might not have made this as clear as I could have.

So, "Mk IX" means that there has been 8 other different tank models I made before this current one, example:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/29218112/MATankLine.png
So each one of those tank models have gone some major change, some of which more obvious than others. The tank on the far right being my very first model and the one on the far left being my newest, so you can see the progression of changes.

Yeah, "Mdl" is just my way of shortening "Model" which refers to the particular variation of a tank, like there is the M1 Abrams and then the M1A1, M1A2, etc.

That make sense?

You haven't seen shit until you've seen 6 AMX 13/90s on the enemy's side.

Did French tanks had such autoloaders as seen in game or was it just added for the game to make frog tanks different?

No, the French oscillating turret designs mounted the revolver-type magazines.
That included the AMX 13, AMX 50, and the in-game Lorraine 40t and BatChatillion 25t.

well that too is bad, but the fact that chaffees are just as strong as tier 5 mediums and such at that level it's just scary...but yes the amx tanks are uuughh too.

reminds me of how people felt when they saw the type 59 at tier 8. soon people realized that it was just a smaller T-54 / slightly up-armored T-44.

i guess people will adapt to the french line once it's used to similar to the type 59's first introduction.

BTW: do you remember what heavier tanks your team had? because the i thought the 90mm gun had a certain penetration level, plus the enemy higher tier tanks come in to play to support the amx-90s too.

Radictistan wrote:Just one question: Why eighty tonnes?

Because it's built on a heavy base hull design (which is both bigger and heavier in terms of materials used than most conventional mainline battle tanks). The turret itself is relatively weighty due to the armour layout there; it's a tank family designed for high intensity NS warfare, after all.

I understand that it's built on a superheavy tank chassis, it just seems odd to have a SPAAG/TELAR that can't be air transported except one per An-124. I hope you have something lighter for when you need rapid deployment.

Not in particular, considering the fact that the Anemonian Armoured Forces are geared towards open terrain warfare on the mainland rather than field deployments worldwide. If I want rapid deployment, I send in the paratroops and Mechanised with the MA9A2.
