F.A.T(Fast Attack Tank)
(Image)
Nick Name: "Fatty"
Crew: 3 (Gunner, Loader, Commander)
Armaments: 144mm Cannon and a 50 Cal. Machine Gun
Top Speed: 64 MPH on road and 56 MPH off road
Classification: Tank Destroyer or MBT
Weight: 40 Tons
Length: 7 meters
Horsepower: 1,500 HP.(Can be fitted with a 1,800 HP engine for an even greater amount of speed)

Leopard 2
(Image)
Nick Name: "Leopard"
Crew: 4(Gunner, Loader, Driver, Commander)
Armaments: 120mm Cannon and a fold down 50 Cal. Machine Gun
Top Speed: 45 MPH on road 35 MPH off road
Classification: MBT
Weight: 60 Tons
Length: 10 Meters
Horsepower: 1,500 Horsepower

The F.A.T beats the Leopard 2 in everything. A smaller crew size, a smaller tank, a bigger gun, its faster, and it weights less.

Ive done a ton of dissections today...Here is another.

Of for the TD.

This is In the Modern battlefield right?
If so its already redundant.
The cannon is so damn big that you could fit maybe 2 rounds in the whole tank with no consideration for the crew.

Next the Leopard 2
What is a Fold down .50 Cal.
As fr speed... Wow... This is a Putter compared to other modern tanks.

If its 35 ft long why dose it weigh so little? The turret should be about 20 tons alone. That leaves 40 tons for armor engine, ammo...Not much.

If this thing fired its gun, it'd probably do a backflip. That, and the dimensions are ridiculous, even if your armour is made out of millimetre-thick aluminium foil and your engine is the size of my fingernail.

Dude the stuff on the Leopard 2 is just a simplification of the actual RL Leopard 2 stats (although he has forgotten the coaxial MG3/FN MAG) and by fold down i assume he means the .50cal is pintle mounted on the commander's turret (although all the RL leopards have a 7.62mm MG in that position).

Right click on the image, select "Copy Image URL" and then paste into [img] brackets. As long as the image smaller than 900x900 pixels you'll have no problem.

If it's bigger (shrunk by DA) you need to zoom it to max size before you copy the url, otherwise it bizarrely displays the shrunk version.

It fills in for a MBT too its just classified as a TD for its large caliber and puncturing ability.

The tank can carry 30 rounds. 15 in the turret's ammo rack and then an extra 15 down in the base of the tank for storage.

Its what Crookfur said "Pintle"

Putter? What ever you say then.

It weighs at 40 tons because I wasn't sure I wanted to get rounded out singular numbers. It was going to be within the 40-55 Tons range.

The M1A2 is so much larger than this and uses 120mm Cannon. It can hold 40 rounds and one loaded... This is Nowhere near as big as the M1A2 and has larger rounds...
Less Space + Bigger rounds = Small decrease in ammo cap... ... ...
Putter. Most MBT's can hit 50+ The M1A2 can hit what? 60 70mph Absoutly maxed out i think./

Also The Gun. A 140 odd mm. Its a Super Light tank in terms. The 120mm of the M1A2 lifts the tank a few inches off the ground. And hell. This isn't a TD. Its Direct fire Heavy Artillery.

The Main Problem with this is the Age of Tank Destroyers are done. They were used in WW2 because a lot of the tanks were so blanty outclassed by Germans... And The Germans wanted the extra Kill power. But Now? Now tanks are pretty much their own greatest enemies. With the Silver Dart rounds and HEAT ammo's. NO Specialized Tank Killer is needed

Wrong. 152mm, as mounted on the M551.
Also, have you ever seen a video of the Sheridan firing conventional HEAT rounds? The first three roadwheels come off the ground.
Secondly, have you ever seen the inside of a modern MBT? They're damn cramped as it is. Shrinking the hull and turret will mean that every one of your tankers will have to be a midget.

It fills in for a MBT too its just classified as a TD for its large caliber and puncturing ability.

Putter. Most MBT's can hit 50+ The M1A2 can hit what? 60 70mph Absoutly maxed out i think./

But it holds all of its rounds in its turret rack. The F.A.T as explained holds only 15 in the turret and then in the base of the tank(Down where the commander is) there is another 15 rounds packed away for later use if the 15 up in the turret have all been fired.

They can only hit 50+ because the terrain was most likely a road and it was downhill. I will agree that the Abrams M1A2 can go that fast but without a road and on a flat plain it will only go about 40MPH.

Please link the tank with a 150mm gun with a lower mass than 40 tonnes.

Also, your tank cannot have armor as heavy as a Leo2's, cannot fit a 1500hp power pack, and most certainly cannot cram in a 144mm gun and 30 rounds of ammunition for it (for that matter, it couldn't fit a 120mm and 30 rounds of ammunition).

Ok... My Math shkills blow hard. But I know smaller space, Plus bigger ammo means you can hold 10 max rounds.

That This Tank WILL flip when fired because its so damn light. The Stryker (Why they put a 105 on it...) Will flip without it's stabazling supports lowered and it weighs 30*40 tons its self... Much smaller gun.

The Engine in this thing is...Well ist the same engine used in teh Challenger 2 and Other tanks...And Weighs nearly 5 tons on its own i think.

Hummel. WW2 tech.

149mm. Still larger then my gun still.
24 Tons. Less then the F.A.T
10-20 rounds. This is the only thing that gets me. So I'll take into and lower my Ammo rack from 30 rounds to maybe around 18 rounds.
20-30MPH. I'm comparing to WW2 tech so this doesn't really matter.

See the above.

Seriously if I can compare my tank to a tank or SPG from World War freaking 2! Then most of the problems I'm getting is the ammo capacity. And I'll gladly lower that to 15 or 18 rounds.

No that doesn't come till later. GR tanks don't convert crews to drone till about 2020.

Im confused. This is a MTK right? Then why is it your comparing it it WW2 tanks? Cause The shot was Much less powerful back then.

Hummel =/= tank.

Now, find a tank using a 150mm gun.
Here's a handy list

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_tank_main_guns

Covers from WW2 to the present? Note the lack of 150 mm guns.

Yeah, some large tanks may have had them, like the E-100 or the Maus, but they also weighed a metric fuckton more than whatever your're talking about. Some assualt guns had large guns like that, but, an assault gun still =/= a tank.

...yeahwutno.
Firstly, you do realize how much armor the Hummel had, right?
In case you don't, allow me to enlighten you. Maximum armor was 30mm.
That's nowhere near what the Leo 2 has.

Therefore, your argument is invalid. Please try again.

Hummel fired 150mm short casing HE shells in a fashion that lobbed them upwards towards targets with minimal focus on muzzle velocity. Quite clearly, your gun isn't designed for a howitzer trajectory, nor does the long barrel seem optimised for low muzzle velocity rounds; does it just lob fat, slow HEAT shells? If that's the case, the recoil might just be manageable. But to be honest, I'd rather pick a Leopard II with its 120mm high velocity APFSDS rather than a vehicle hurling 150mm HEAT at the frontal armour of any modern armoured vehicle, for reasons obvious to anybody who's done their homework.
