Education is valued greatly in Saurisia, as much as the Military and hard work. The average child usually learns to read at either three or four years of age. They typically start school at age five, beginning with Kindergarten, moving up one grade per year until they reach 12th Grad at age 17 from which they graduate from High School. Should they fare poorly in a Grade, however, they are to repeat that grade again upon hope that they fare better. If they do not, then they are to repeat said grade again and again and again until they finally fare well.

The grades are arranged in three different School types. Kindergarten to 5th Grade is Elementary School, 6th to 8th Grade is Middle Grade, and 9th to 12th Grade is High School.

Choice is a major part of the Saurisian School System. A student and his/her parents are free to choose between taking Private School, Public School, and Homeschooling, all with their own benefits and downsides. The choices are to be made between the end of a school year and the beginning of a new one. If no choice is made in that time, the student sticks with his/her current school.

It does cost money to enroll a student into a school, usually 150 to 175 Dino Dollars for public school. However, this is all part of a culture which encourages hard work and perseverance to earn a living. The harder one works, the more they earn. The schools are the same way: those who work hard to get good grades are rewarded while those who are lazy or slack off are scorned and encouraged to cease their destructive behavior.

Discipline is a key part of the school system and those who are disobedient, goof off instead of doing their work, or disrupt the class are sent to detention, where they are forced to do nothing but the schoolwork they were supposed to do. Those who exempt bad behaviors are typically punished by a good paddling in Elementary School, though this is punished by Suspension in Middle and High Schools. Overall, these ensure a good relatively well-behaved class who are encouraged to work hard to pass through school.

As for school hours, usually it lasts from 7 AM to 2 PM, though there are a few variations here and there.

School? Akaquak needs no school. At age 5, we go from house to house forcing children to count to 10 and say their abcs or else we shoot their heads off. At age 14, we go from house to house and make sure they know their multiplication tables. Then we shoot them whether they know them or not.

Natural born pupils are taught at thier sectors designated teaching facility. All clone students are educated after leaving thier cloning facility by joining natural born sector facilities.
Students live at these facilities during teaching, family visits are allowed twice a month. After teaching is completed, all students then begin mandated military training and specialization. Teaching starts at the age of 4, and consists of 16 hours per day.
A total of 20 years pass during this designated teaching period. If the student survives, DNA samples are taken for further sequencing at cloning facilities. Once completed, the pupil is released into the public to conduct a normal and healthy life.

The Nortoapocan School Year starts on the first Monday after Nortoapoco Day (August 23rd). There is a short break from Christmas Eve that ends the day after New Years. There are no other breaks during the school year, which usually ends in mid-June. If school days are postponed, school can go the rest of the month as well. Some private schools adopt a different school year, but the school year is standardized for all public schools. School is in session from Monday through Friday.

Elementary School starts with 1st Grade (6) and goes until Grade 5 (10). Middle School goes from 6th grade (11) until 9th grade (14). High School goes from 10th Grade (15) until 15th Grade (20). Those ages are the minimum age to be permitted to enter those grades, with the cutoff date being Nortoapoco Day. That means most high school graduates are 21 when they graduate. Students can also be held back. Immigrants to Nortoapoco are given tests to determine their academic skill level and placed in the appropriate grade, provided that they meet the age requirement. Public High School students must start at a Public High School in 10th Grade. Private schools also require all students to start in 10th Grade. Students who transfer from public to private schools or between different private schools are often required to start high school over again from the beginning. College education is free in Nortoapoco (for public colleges), but colleges tend to have high admissions standards.

School is compulsory from Elementary School through to High School graduation and homeschooling is outlawed. Pre-School exists, but is not compulsory.

As Nortoapoco and all Nortoapocan territories use a standardized time, the school hours differ in different regions. Elementary School starts fairly late in the morning (2 hours and 30 minutes before noon) and ends 5 hours past noon or somewhere approximate to those times. Middle School tends to start around 4 hours before noon and end around 5 hours past noon. High School starts early in the morning (6 hours before noon) and ends fairly early in the afternoon (3 and a half hours past noon). The reason for the early end for High School is so that the students can make it to their jobs. It is customary in our nation for High School students to work entry level jobs, although their wages usually usually go to the parents, either to be saved or as a payment to the parents (Nortoapocan parents disagree on which way to go). Actually, older Middle School students also have jobs, but they work fewer hours. Typically, the boys use their job to get work experience, while the girls use it as an opportunity to meet boys.

Our schools primarily emphasize academic subjects. Classes in Math, Science (including Creation Science), History, Economics, English, and other academic subjects are required. Girls are required to take a number of classes in homemaking skills, while a variety of vocational-related classes are available to boys. Classes in religion are required in public school, although appropriate classes are offered for students of all recognized religions. PE class is a requirement all year-round every school year. ROTC classes are offered for boys only, but are not required.

We don't use letter grades. A failing grade is considered to be anything below 80%. That works pretty well.

Virtually every school in Nortoapoco has very strict restrictions for its students. Schools almost all have uniforms and also ban facial hair (facial hair is a symbol of class in our nation and this informal policy is enforced by schools and employers). Our anti-crossdressing laws would apply to boys who grow their hair like girls or to girls who wear male clothing, so schools don't even have to ban that. It is also very common for schools to have policies restricting the behavior of their students outside of school, most of which would probably seem outrageous to a foreigner.

Schools have a myriad of activities that take place outside of school hours. In Middle and High School, activities of some sort are usually required from all students. Of all the activities, sports draw the most attention, especially the big 3 of baseball, football and soccer. Cheerleaders are common at sports events and it is our custom for the players from the winning team to celebrate after a game at the expense of the losing team's cheerleaders. The nature of the celebration provides the cheerleaders with all the incentive they need to perform at their best every game.

One of the customs that has been adopted by our High Schools fairly recently has been the "house" system that was first popularized in one of our colonies and has now spread. Most High Schools now have 4 "houses" that compete against each other academically and in sports events, although the best athletes represent the entire school instead of their "house" in athletic competitions. We've also long had the system of "prefects" at our High Schools as well, meaning certain older students who are granted the authority to help enforce the school's rules.

We don't have any form of "school choice" in Nortoapoco. Students are assigned to a Public School based upon where they live (although exceptions can be made at the High School level in some cases). Their parents also have the option of sending their kids to private schools. Private schools are regulated by the government to ensure compliance with standards. We have repeatedly thwarted certain extremist groups that wish to indoctrinate children via private schools. But, we mostly allow private schools to operate as they wish.

Children begin education at age 1 in creches where basic socialization and other skills are taught in a learn in a "learn through play" environment.

Primary School is the next phase of education and has 7 year levels. Literacy and numeracy are taught and the students are introduced to classes that cover all the other fields of study such as science and the arts.

Secondary School comes next and covers year 8 through to year 12, in this phase of their education the knowledge they gained in primary school is expanded on and they are given the chance to begin specializing into areas that they show talent in by introducing core and elective subjects, career councilors assist students in making these choices.

Latin, Mathematics, Civics & Physical education are the core subjects of secondary school and the electives include various sciences, the arts (various forms of performing arts and visual arts), All the basic engineering subjects, training in a trade , business subjects & various humanity subjects such as law or philosophy.

Then students can elect to attend university or a trade college to either obtain a diploma or a degree. All students must attend college or trade school.

Students may also be skipped ahead a grade by completing and passing the exams of their current grade level.
Private schools are a rarity and must adhere to the same degree of excellence as our public system.
Church run schools may not have religious education as a core subject, but they are allowed to offer it as an elective.
We have one university in our nation, Niciae University. But it has many colleges and campuses throughout the republic and has a campus in every city and an office in every town to allow exams to be taken and tutors/lecturers to be contacted via the net for external students.

Education is completely free throughout Kinitaria, including at university level. Private schools are technically legal, but carry a great deal of negative social stigma due to the pervasive socialist culture within Kinitaria. The state schools offer a wide variety of subjects, with the aim of catering to the needs of most if not all students.
The school day must include six one-hour lessons, one hour for lunch and a 15-30 minute break, although the exact placing of these (and the time the school day starts/ends) falls under the jurisdiction of the local authorities. In addition, one hour out of every week (two, in some regions) must be given over to physical education.
Uniform standards also vary from region to region (and sometimes from school to school), although all schools do require a uniform of some sort.
While there is no formal procedure in place for repeating a year (a student can technically pass through the school getting a zero on every exam and still leave the 14th year at 18), most students will choose to repeat their U6 or U7 if their grades are particularly low.
Grades in most subjects come from a mixture of end-of-year exams and either one or two pieces of coursework, although some are based solely on the end-of-year exams. A student's grades will be determined not by the teachers, but by the external state examination board, who set, mark and grade exams and coursework. The grading system they use is as follows:

Other letters which can appear on a student's report card are:

Schooling in Constarus is both compulsory and quite expensive. Not really a good situation for parents who don't have a lot of money, but it does mean that not much government money has to go into the schools. The parents are also required to provide any school items that their children may need, mainly a laptop and a briefcase. Students are not required to wear uniforms, however they are required to wear some sort of business suit to school every day.

Students must study English, Russian, social studies, math, and business until they reach age 13. At age 13 they switch to just taking business-related classes. By that age they should already be able to do math and speak fluently in both languages, so those classes are no longer necessary.

School hours are from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, every day of the week, to correspond with the typical Constarusian workday so the parents are able to pick their children up right after work. Students also get a brief lunch break from 12:00 to 12:30.

The lowest passing grade is 80%, and students who don't have an 80% average or higher by the time they should graduate face some unappealing consequences.
