The Commonwealth of Galactian Nations

Introduction

The Commowealth of Galactian Nations, or just the Galactian Nations, is located in three star systems just over 15 000 light years from the Sun (our RL solar system): the Rillia, the Marggo and the Terretheun systems. In each of the systems, three of the planets are inhabited and there are a number of space stations between the systems and the planets. Originally the planet Galactia (Terretheun system) had been colonised by humans from Earth while the planets Margia and Rillio (Marggo and Rillia systems respectively) had been colonised by aliens from a different galaxy (more on them later).

After a few centuries, three planets had been colonised in each of the systems (the other planets in the systems are suitable for colonisation and are only used for research, disposal and testing) and the three nations (Galactia, Margia and Yunrlaeok) were looking beyond their respective systems. Galactia was the first to travel out of their star system when they sent two missions to the closest stars (the Marggo and Rillia systems). Upon finding intelligent life, the three nations established diplomatic relations and eventually united as the Commonwealth of Galactian Nations (which started originally as loose union and gradually became more united).

Origin of Species

The three systems are predominantly inhabited by the descendents of the original colonists all though some movement of people has occurred. The Galactian system is inhabited by humans, native aliens known as Plathyians that greatly resemble fish, and various species of lesser intelligence.

History Part 1

Two years after unification of the three countries, the first high king of the Commonwealth, Paul Fruscon, reorganised the governments of the three systems to increase the efficiency of the Commonwealth. He started the construction of interplanetary space stations, an intersystem space station and special antennae and satellites for enabling constant communication between the different planets of the Commonwealth...

Military

The military of the Galactian Nations is of course mainly space based, with only police forces on the planets themselves. Most of the troops are on the large space ship troop carriers, the space stations or on one of the three colonised asteroids (converted into space stations). The largest space ships are the interstellar troop carriers which can easily carry 1 army group (500 000 men) with equipment, landing craft, vehicles and supplies. The troop carriers are fairly well protected with a shield generator and numerous turrets. They are also some of the fastest ships in the Galactian fleet and can travel up to speeds of 512 times the speed of light using warp drive. Generally they are used for exploration and have been used for the colonisation of the planet Loska, and the failed colonisation of the M-10012 system which resulted in the loss of 10 000 men and the improvement of defensive systems on the spacecraft. The Galactian fleet currently operates 4 interstellar troop carriers and is currently building a fifth with new technology. The carriers are: CSC Megas (the largest), CSC Mpikran, CSC Millirg and CSC Mighty.

Planets

Terretheun System

The Terretheun system is composed of 7 terrestrial planets: Athena, Hermes Delta, Dionysus Alpha, Folngo, Galactia, Huguenon and New Earth of which the first 4 are too far or too close to their star to be inhabitable and the other 3 are inhabited. There are also 4 gaseous planets, Ferengo, Svaltan and Apollo; twice, half and one quarter the size of Jupiter respectively.

The largest inhabitable planet in the commonwealth is the Galactia planet in the Terretheun system, it largely resembles Earth in climate and distance from its star but is nearly twice its size. Most of the liquid water on the planet is in one of the many small seas that cover the planet. There are no major oceans, although the largest sea is nearly the size of the Indian Ocean. The atmosphere of Galactia is very similar to that of the Earth largely due to atmospheric improvement by the earliest colonists. The planet is orbited by 2 moons both smaller than Earth's Moon

The orbit of Huguenon is similar to that of Mars in Earth's solar system, but closer in size and composition of the atmosphere (also due to atmospheric improvement) to Earth. Due to the surface of the planet being nearly two thirds water, most of the habitations are on or under the water. Most of the dry land forms one continent where all the government and interplanetary facilities are. Huguenon is orbited by a space station and one moon.

The only other inhabited planet, New Earth is the smallest inhabited planet in the Commonwealth and is slightly bigger than Mars. New Earth has, to counteract its weak gravitational field, special generators inserted in the planets core. The atmosphere is again improved by the same process as the other two planets. New Earth was the first planet to be colonised but gradually lost importance as Galactia's population grew. New Earth has very few bodies of water on the surface and most of the water is underground or in rivers and small lakes. 50% of the planet is urban. New Earth is orbited by one moon.
