Zwitterjiundians speak Neo-Zwitterjiundian which is identical to German. High ranking commisaars, royalty and a very small minority also speak Old-Noravinian, an archaic form of German which features constant rolling Rs and lots growls; it's very hard to learn and only used in traditional ceremonies.

It's estimated that around one billion Zwitterjiundians are fluent in English and or German. the next largest language is Japanese. Zwitterjiundians find it difficult to learn Japanese but it's estimated around one hundred thousand can speak it.

The Earth protectorate is currently phasing out many regional languages as official languages, instead designating regions as being English, German or Japanese.

As such, the two most popular secondary languages in the Imperium are Korean and Japanese.

- Perhaps as many as 2,000 languages are spoken in AU912. Most of those are spoken in immigrant communities, almost all of which are located in either major cities or small towns in more remote areas. The written languages are the same as the home country of the immigrant group.
- The official language of AU912 is English. Over 90% of the population speaks at least broken English. There are many dialects. Most of them are not difficult for a native speaker of American, British, Australian, or Canadian English to understand.
- English is is written as English is on Earth. The most common fonts are Arial and Times New Roman. Spelling is based on American English, with a few exceptions. For example: a "check" is an item on a list; a "checque" is a form of payment; a "metre" is a unit of measure; a "meter" is an electronic device.
