....just curious. In our case, the Klingons, of course. Except that their women have rights. Ours don't even have names.

Wouldn't that make you more like the Ferengi? Or however you spell them? I believe it was considered indecent for a woman to wear clothing in their society :P

Anyway, I would be the isolationism of the Romulans, a repressive puritanism resembling the Baku, the diplomatic authority of the Vortal the value of culture and the defensive and guerrilla strength of the Bajorans... not to mention their lack of respect for authority.

It's hard to pick one.... I don't have a big military, so Romulans is not correct; I DO have technology, so I'm not quite as bad as the Baku, though I do limit trade and all my technology is based on self-reliance; The Vorta are pretty close, except that I don't really have command of a big military, again; The Bajorans are probably closest, especially since I lost my worlds long ago and took a big hit, now finally rejoining the galactic scene.

So, I guess my final answer would be Bajoran. Those people are just awesome anyway.

Is there a leftist/ secular humanist culture in Star Trek? I am not aware if there is or not. If so I think that would be my nation.

Betazed match that pretty well... Humanist because they're empaths, secular but traditionalist, and leftist... well, weddings are to be performed naked as a matter of compulsion :P

The Megarans have been artificially raised from an agrarian society to a technological one rather quickly by foreigners, they speak a strange language which even the universal translator a problem with has. They are ruled by a leader who unified the planet...

But Rejistania is democratic, so it does not quite fit. Also the mentality is not so much that of dissatisfaction but more 'carpe diem' like. So... a Megara after democratic reforms maybe.

I suppose the Ferengi are closest, only Ferengi foolishly want to "acquire" things rather than to create them. Perhaps they have a zero-sum view of wealth typical of strawman criticisms of capitalism.

If the Ferengi were to wise up and become self-actualizing creators of values, they would be like the people of our nation.
