OOC: Be more historically accurate to say "it could be argued that the only reason that the Romans didn't conquer the Germans was because by the time they got around to them, Rome was ruled by an Emperor, and after a single military defeat because they were lead by an incompetent commander, said Emperor decided to spend the rest of his life slamming his head against the wall, and completely halt the invasion of Germany." However this would be a better sentence if backed up by a quote from an eminent historian.

OOC: No, it's perfectly fine to hang Rome's failure to conquer Germany on him. Because after him came a paranoid, a few psychos and murderers, and after that, Rome's strength and stability waned, and conquering Germany after that was no longer feasible. So he was the deciding factor.

OOC: Don't tell me you've never heard of the Battle of Teutoburg Forest? You know, "Varius, Varius, give me back my Legions!"? And how afterwords Augustus advised Tiberius (Right before Augustus' death) to be content with the borders of Rome how they were?

Here are a few things: (PMT) We are an island nation:

1) An accurate assault rifle that can punch through modern body armor. Possibly rocket assisted ammunition.

2) A good automatic combat shotgun AA-12 or better.

3) A railgun that will fit on a patrol boat or gunboat. Also light railgun artillery. (The gunboats should have fast engines something fast preferably with
supercavitating engines).

4) A small submarine capable of carrying Seahorse style torpedo drones.

5) Small surveillance airships.

6) Coastal defense weapons. (Mobile Missile Batteries, Railguns)

7) An improved LAW (Light Antitank Weapon)

8) Body Armor (Possibly exoskeleton armor which can handle heavy weapons), not full mecha.

9) A VTOL Multi-role fighter.

10) A light tank that can cross water between islands.

My nations developing war technology...

Postby Banananano » Tue Sep 15, 2009 7:18 pm

My nation is currently experimenting with top notch under-the-radar warfare. We are currently in the process of constructing next-generation robots who we will use to reak havoc on unsuspecting countries. Attractive female robotic prostitutes carrying the AIDs virus, Cambodian orphan-bots who spit corrosive acid, keyboards for computers that will release an invisible posion gas into the air every time you press the "j" key, Robotic teens who spread anti-government messages through the young population and encourage drugs, robotic squirrels with explosive nuts, robotic dentists that implant tiny little land-mines in your teeth that are activated by a button I keep in my desk, small adorable robotic puppies whose waste conceals a uranium time-bomb, and evil robotic raccoons whose job is to waste a nations resources by sneaking into houses and turning all the lights and water on, eating as much food as possible and disposing of the trash in the street so it will end up in a whales blow hole, stealing as much money as possible and possibley robbing entire banks of their riches, setting fire to trees and oil rigs, and voting for pro-industry politicians. In addition, my nation's population is required to go through one year military service. Each and every one of them can go from "mild mannered citizen" to "beastmo man-slaughtering soldier" in a blink of an eye.

Even more future tech than we are already....of course, our continued economic reforms will help.

Our biggest investment over the next 5 - 10 years will be our anti-ballistic systems. Just saying.

OOC: I kinda think of my nation as having MT+ in the sense that weapons match the modern ones, except Araraukar doesn't have nor does intend to have nukes, but instead we haven't banned biological and chemical warfare research. That doesn't necessarily mean mustard gas - think more of a hallusinogenic that would make enemy troops attack each other.

IC: The Grand Duchy of Araraukar has no interest in invading any inferior countries, but neither will we surrender easily, if an enemy was to attack. With this in mind, most of our military research is on the defensive side.

1. We are interested in researching an effective EMP bomb without the need of a nuclear blast to generate it, and hope to have one within the next five to ten years. Longer time scale because we need to be able to scale the blast radius up and down for different uses.

2. Going hand in hand with the EMP bomb research is research on changing as much of our own electronics into optics instead, so we wouldn't fall victim to accidental detonations. Not the entire nation, of course, just the military and key governmental functions.

3. Quite a lot of our nation's untouched nature can be found near our borders, and we would like to remind that the dragon is a protected and proliferous species. They tend to be quite territorial and will defend their nesting sites ferociously. Enemy combatants be warned. If you thought a flying tank with a flamethrower is bad, wait 'til you face an angry mother dragon.

If they are ballistic missiles, they can be detonated in flight. If they are computer-guided, they're vulnerable to EMP attacks.

Just saying. :p

((OOC: No nuclear missile has "abort codes", nor can they be stopped once they've been launched, that's a Hollywood invention. (It's why we have "flexible response".) There are very blatant and obvious reasons why no nuclear missiles (or bombs) have such codes, and why everything is designed to prevent them from launching and detonating in the first place, like Permissive Action Link (PAL) codes and nuclear failsafe triggers.

Specifically:

What makes this second sentence so remarkable is that, in the ensuing decades, no capability to remotely divert or destroy a nuclear-armed missile resulting &from an unauthorized launch has been deployed by the US government.

We're sure to have something developed utilising our XM104 Small Arms Targeting and Fire Control System. We're not sure what it'll be, nor what it'll do, or even when we'll have, but it'll be something cool and look really futuristic and stuff, like XM25 futuristic.

as we are a small nation we have a small army.
To fix that we use advance robotics like the ones in terminator.
Hamtech is currently finding ways to create plasma canons
Our current millitary is sufficent however, to take down most threats.
1. Laser guns for all our guns to replace our aging m-16 and m-1
2. replace all vehciles with hybrids for efficency
3. Hover tanks
4. Nuclear rain=more nukes
5. Hypersonic planes with higher bomb loads and coilgun machine guns
as you can see our millitary is quite advanced. Our millitary is already equipped with rail guns, coil guns, efficent hybrid engine, ramjets. basic nano suits, and basic laser guns. Quite advanced milltary hardware

multipurpose tech which primarily serves peaceful civilian purposes but is quite robust and combat capable.

an example of this would be mining industry energy beam excavating tools mounded on window washers gravity sleds.

the staff of themnax, another, is at first glance a simple walking stick, with what appears to be something like a flashlight built into the top of it. this makes it an excelent quarters staff to begin with, which many have learned to fight with as a recreational hobby. the 'flashlight' however can project a number of energy fields and beams.

it is not unusual to for ordinary cameroi to have on or about their persons, while no conventional projectile weapons, unless they happen to be gun smithing hobbiests, a variety of the sorts of things "q" in the james bond movies was always equiping agents with.

cameroi is a peaceful and peace loving society, and very ecotopian, and a majority of cameroi also like to go camping, in well equiped but light weight convenience, and most also love all sorts of these odd little gadgets. few leave home without their sonic screw drivers or equivelant.
truth isn't what i say. isn't what you say. isn't what anybody says. truth is what is there, when no one is saying anything.
