The Title says it all, The Empire is quite interested in knowing what sort of Military technology are you aiming to have let's say in the next 10-15 years.

We are looking to have this:

But we'll have to stick with this:

Those treads look like easy targets. The exposed cockpit makes it all the more vulnerable. I'm assuming that it shoots .50 calibre bullets, right?

The Commonwealth aims to increase its abilities in several fields. (In a Post-MT sense)

We are searching for increases in the technological levels of our energy weapons. We hope to have a rudimentary energy weapon for scarce usage, but if the smallest we can produce to ensure effectiveness is vehicle-carried, then so be it. We at least want the ability to move about and not require toxic chemicals or a bulky power feed.

We are looking into mecha-based machinery. Gigantic walking Japanese robots are a bit farther than what we are looking for: compact infantry-supporting powered armor, an example being the Grypsios Infantry Powered Armor (will post link soon), a piece of powered armor capable of utilizing heavy weapons and maintaining the battlefield well-being of the individual soldier.

Most importantly, we are looking into the venture of space warfare. Gigantic space cruisers are too far from our goal: we want the ability to stirke anywhere in NationStates from high orbit, and we also want the ability to bring the battle to space if need be. We are looking into Kinetic Strike and Particle Weaponry at the moment but neither has gone farther than the drawing board (but that is not saying either project will fail)

Increased defence spending

Postby Sihelia » Sun Sep 13, 2009 10:15 pm

The Sihelian government recently made an announcement to increase it's military spending by 25% to procure new technologies and upgrade the current fleet of Surface Combat Vessels with Mini rails and Homer missiles developed by Hellstorm Arsenal.

The National Weapons Laboratory is currently developing a new series of sonic weapons called Scanning Resonance Emitter or affectionately known as the Howler. It is developed in conjunction with the Helian Defence Systems.

-An improved AIDS cannon.
-breast cancer bomb
-small-pox ray
-fur bomb
-improved heavy metal technology. We're still researching Led Zeppelin and Metallica and Iron Maiden look promising. Our Black Sabbath technology has already produced a variety of devestating bombs.
-mechs. Lots and lots of mechs.
-Bees. Don't underestimate the power of bees. The most horrifying swarms you'll ever see without the world ending. In fact, tehy just might make the world end. Death bees.
-Nuclear powered pies. Yeah, we're going to take military pies to frightening new extremes. Might toss in a few death bees with them for good measure.

((OOC: I Role play from Fantasy to FT, so.. I'll just do MT for now...))

Currently the Union is looking towards a tank that has more mobility but also has the ability to easily crush enemies and conserve shells. The suggested "Tank" will be used for straight forward attack operations once heavy fire on the enemy side has cut down. They cockpit will be rather exposed making it an easy target but the mobility will make up for that. It is predicted to be assembled on January 1st, 2025 and will be put into effect and approved on October 3rd 2034.

We don't really need to 'aim' for new military technology. We need shells, torpedoes and missiles that will penetrate enemy ships and we need bullets that will penetrate enemy soldiers. We have those.

We do hope that our (potential) enemies will continue to squander their efforts on shiny toys instead of learning to use what they have effectively.

Wll due to the overwhelming success of grenade launchers on conventional firearms, the government sponsered Follas-2 is working in cooperation with Dr. Dickford of Elbogenveloren to create some new terrifying weapons.

Number 1: Lazers capable of disintegrating enemies, what is more terrifying than knowing that people may fail to ever know your fate?
Number 2: Shrink/resize technology, to use on sharks, which shall be put inside of "shark cannons" (grenade launchers which fire sharks) and when these strike the enemy they resize.
Number 3: A lighter version of power armour which allows for protection, agility and strength, well at least moreso than given by kevlar.
Number 4: Hoyteca's ideas of bees are already in production. Bee shooters are the idea we have, 12 or so bees frozen into a ball, fired at a target. These will thaw as they are being fired out the end of the barrel of the bee shooter, which has a heated end.
Number 5: Fatatatutti, you may say you are trying to use what you have effectively, but you seem to be ignoring the important factor in war. Whoever has the more effective weapons wins. If you want to waste your time trying to get better results from modern guns, your enemies will be busy developing better weapons with even greater potential than the modern day guns.

We were thinking clones, but we're not completely certain on how to accelerate the aging process accurately.

CM is willing to release a few details about our experimental military technology, and what we hope to have in working condition in 10-15 years.

-Rail-gun equipped Naval Ships.

-Powered Exoskeletons

-Active Camouflage

We're sure that's what the Gauls were saying to themselves as the Romans improved their military equipment, and expanded their knowledge of engineering. Our memory is horrible, so you'll have to forgive us, as we can't quite seem to remember who won in the end...

We aim for military tech that when put in the wrong hands it could bring the human race to an end. Just the human race. my country doesn't believe in killing animals for no particular reason. we grew past that some years ago. The rest of our military tech is medieval with a twist. we use lazer charged swords and lightning arrows. All of our stuff looks really awesome. If you check out final fantisy than you know how our weapons look... except ours is like 32X cooler.

OOC - and BTW, Gauls and Romans are OOC: Allow me to refresh your memory and expand your horizons. The Germanic tribes were thinking the same thing - and the Romans never conquered them. So you might want to rethink the idea that fancy new technology is a sure winner.

OOC: Allow me to refresh your memory... The only reason that the Romans didn't conquer the Germans was because by the time they got around to them, Rome was ruled by an Emperor, and after a single military defeat because they were lead by an incompetent commander, said Emperor decided to spend the rest of his life slamming his head against the wall, and completely halt the invasion of Germany.

Should I move on to the Conquistadors vs. The Aztecs and Incans?

Edit: And not only that, but it'd be hard for CM to regard Rome as OOC, seeing as they're the descendants of Roman Exiles.

OOC: My point is that you don't need top-of-the-range. One of the most successful weapons in the history of the world is the AK-47 and it's far from top-of-the-range. Trading in your weapons every few years for the latest bells and whistles is a sales gimmick of the arms manufacturers, not a military necessity.

OOC: And yet, there's a reason that the AK-47 has been replaced in every country that isn't completely strapped for cash: Better weaponry emerged. The AK-47 is successful because it's cheap. Why do you think even the Soviet Union changed from the '47 to the '74?
