Our nation does not have a military in the conventional sense; rather, the nation, composed as of now of several partially hollowed-out asteroids, is essentially a giant group of raiders, smugglers and various ne'er do-wells. Over time, however, the ratio has decreased to roughly 25% of citizens being capable of raiding or waging war (if they feel like it) at any given time.

At 12 years of age, at school, the first military lessons begin and 18 years of age, all men and women with minimal health problems, are recruited and serve the 18 to 30 years old in Latin Red Army , meanwhile continue to study, completed military service, each ex-soldier takes one rifle, any invasion is doomed to failure.
NOTE: The police was disbanded after the revolution, law and order is maintained by the population by armed militias.

About 40-50% of Eradium's population is currently registered as being in military service. Of which a fairly small percentage is on active duty in a combat zone, depending on the theatre troops spend a 2 - 18 month tour. Many big corporations hire, train and equip their own militias to pay the tithe to the government and prevent key personal being selected for duty. Military train begins early on and continued till 35 when people are released from mandatory service. Most people in non-essential positions (or the poor) will spend at least 2 months in the military per year, (the less important the job, the longer the time, often). This also has the benefit of keeping jobs open and unemployment lower. For those away from the front this will most likely be spent on garrison duty (with working from 'home' where possible). A standing full-time military provides the elite and specialist troops.

Still casualty rates are high, so there is a diminished aged population. It's not a fair system (especially on the less well off), but Eradium has been at war throughout it's history, for it's own existence in many parts of the last 600 years, so it's a necessary system.

Due to the popularity of the Military as a method of obtaining citizenship the armed forces of Adria usually stand at about 4% of the Population, this doesn't include the further 3% in the Imperial Navy.
If need be the Empire can call upon up to 15% of it's Citizenship, who are listed in the Militia Reserve, and of course with nearly 60% of the population armed if invaded we could expect almost the entire population to fight back. A valuable deterrent.

Roughly 0.75-0.8% of our employees are trained mercenaries. Roughly 55-58% of this mercenary force serves in logistics (truckers, sappers, inventory specialists, finance, etc.).

Roughly %.03 of our population, 25 million souls, serve within the Saurean military in one of the fourteen Crusade Armies. Granted, not all of these military personnel are combatants, some of them are religious attachments, support staff and personnel, medical staff, aide workers, and so on.

All told, maybe about 1.6% are in the military. The military is split into 9 separate groups however, the Union is composed of 7 quasi-sovereign states each with their own militia (which typically have both a regular and reserve component) and the regular Union military which is approximately 800,000 strong. There is no reserve, as the militias of the various city-states (officially designated as Settlements) are required to serve in the national defence, and can be levied for overseas service as needed. The ninth force is smaller, and is the Faith Militant, the Church's army (some rotary wing air assets as well, but essentially all ground forces). The Church is responsible for governing many towns and cities across the country, and is essentially an eighth, smaller state in and of itself. Settlement militias are predominately reserves.

The main Union forces of 800,000 are primarily land forces, with a limited navy and air force.

Currently 23.66667% of the population are serving as Hooks or Hook variants.

The majority of our military is the Enforcers, which are robotic and therefore not a part of the population. Enforcers are closer to a massive omnipresent armed police force than a real army, though they serve as the last defence of Station 12 itself.

Around 250 million total personnel with a population of around 2 billion - but that measurement includes compulsory youth and reserve divisions.

Standard uniform can be anything from arctic camo, to urban, to jet black, to blue camo. Heavy troops have a nearly full-body set of armor that is powered by hydraulics and an on-board battery pack that can stay well within operational perameters for about 14 hours, but then requires recharging.

Every citizen in Kharsus is taken at birth and put through military training and serve several years in the armed forces before they are allowed to return to society if they wish at age 25. Typically they usually see several battles by age 18. A standard Kharsus citizen is about equal to a full-time soldier in terms of skill in battle.

And if the military fails, there is always the crimson police, my massive police force that is better trained than my military to fall back on.
