Vbinvani soldiers wear a heavy, hooded cloak with a desert camo pattern. Other than this, and a variety of pouches to store their gear, a vbingvani soldier wears nothing. Due to their carapaces, they rarely need clothing for protection, and they have no social taboos against nudity. Human soldiers in the Vbingvani Army, however, typically wear a khaki-colored uniform, black combat boots, and a helmet with a face shield.

Most standard infantry, vbingvani or otherwise, use a heavy-duty crossbow as their main weapon. Using a mechanical loading device, the vbingvani crossbow is capable of exerting enough force on the launched bolt to penetrate an inch of steel. The bolts themselves are usually steel, though wooden bolts are occasionally used when there are logistics issues. The bolts used in vbingvani crossbows are designed with a "blood channel" down the center and a wickedly barbed tip, which makes it extremely difficult to remove yet doesn't prevent the target from bleeding.

Due to the Vbinvani Chamber of Protection and Invasion (CHoPaI) being underfunded, only those soldiers who prove themselves to be extremely accurate are given firearms. Even then, the firearm designs used in Vbingvan are at least forty years old. For example, the VR-7, Vbingvan's main assault rifle, is based heavily off the design of the M-16. Sidearms are, almost without exception, primitive revolvers.

Officers are identified by their cloak, which wraps around the front of the body and has sleeves. Non-vbinvani are not currently permitted to become officers, but legislation is currently pending to change this. Officers usually carry pump-action shotguns, such as the VS-12. The VS-12 is heavy, loud, relatively inaccurate, and slow to reload. Officers also carry a traditional vbingvani axsword on them, and know how to use it, but rarely do for obvious reasons.

The Night Watch, Vbingvan's special forces division, wear similar cloaks to those of the standard infantry, except black. In addition, they tend to wear black fabric over as much of their body as possibly to help them blend in to the shadows. Non-vbingvani aren't currently allowed to join the Night Watch, and there's no plans to change this. Night Watchers are given firearms by default, either the VR-7 Assault Rifle or the VSP-1, a sub-machine gun which is basically a scaled-down VR-7.

I think there are plenty of Stormtrooper-deploying nations on NationStates. A spin-off of the Trade Federation would be cool, though; those battle droids were freaking awesome-looking.

Totenkorper Sketches
The Totenkorp is a new branch of the Krakkian military, and the most controversial. Using deceased soldiers from both sides of a conflict, the Totenkorp uses clockwork and steam power to "recycle" the dead soldiers back into fighting condition. This can almost triple the manpower Krakke has in any war of attrition, with even dead Todsoldaten being recycled into even more meat for the grinder.

Novan military units are trying to phase in the WOLF combat system (Weapon, Objective, Lifesign and Fireteam) - Upgrading armour, optics and gear that is up to this standard has taken time, a total 30% of active ground Infantry have the system.

HUD-display helmets with heavy duty ballistic protection have proved heavy and cumbersome, some units have had engineers assist in transferring the electronics to lighter helmet designs.
