The slice (symbol: ¥Ą) is the official currency of the Nomadic Peoples of YellowApple, and is generally fixed at an exchange rate of ¥Ą1 = N$2. The slice is a fully-electronic currency, with physical currency being reserved solely for use in international trade. YellowApple backs its currency with platinum, and physical currency - as rare as it is - contains its value in platinum.

The Lyranian currency is called peri, a word that also means 'labrys'. Its symbol, Ŧ, is a stylized letter "pe" which resembles a labrys, or double-bitted axe. 1 peri = 100 hakurini.
Coins: 1, 5, 10, 25 and 50 hakurini (aluminium) and Ŧ1 (brass).
Notes: Ŧ5, Ŧ10, Ŧ25, Ŧ50 and Ŧ100 (printed on polypropylene polymer).

When discussing currency, I like to use the Chocolate Bar Index: how many units of a given currency it would take to purchase a simple chocolate bar at your average corner store in the area I happen to live.

Right up until market open on January 25, 2012, the currency of the Archipelago was the Kane (Kahn-ay, both plural and singular). The kane had a value of about 420 or so to the chocolate bar. Coins were available in 1, 5, 25, 100, and 200-kane denominations, with paper banknotes for larger denominations: 500, 1000, 5000, and 100,000. Treasury Transfer Bonds were bearer-bonds in even larger denominations to transfer value between banks, though this practice had deteriorated with the creation of the national reserve in the mid 80s.

Faced with growing pressure to adopt a currency with an actual commodity behind it, the government introduced the New Dollar (N$), the current standard. For the next 12 months, the value of the new dollar will be locked in at 1:100 with the Kane (Or about N$1.30 to the chocolate bar, a slight devaluation). After that, the value will be tied to a function of the number of physical New Dollar notes and coins in circulation against the combined value of the National Solid Value Reserve, a physical vault of precious metals and other commodities protected at Fort Minor. Having a solid reserve is expected to stabilize the fluctuating value of the kane on the forex market, though interestingly, the new dollar coins will be minted from high-durability, low-monetary-value metals. The new banknotes are to be state-of-the-art polymer notes.

Well, in xeno languages it's called a "favor".

[Mama adds: I keep track of all of the work my Children do, both for me and for each other. Each Child has a tally of "favors" they can redeem for goods and services above and beyond what they're normally entitled to. It's a useful way to encourage productivity. The "favors" are just numbers in my memory; my Children have long passed the need for some kind of physical "medium of exchange".]

Drachma notes, pre-spelling reform. Circa 2009.

The new banknotes, since June 19 2010.

The currency of Grandais is the drachma (represented by Đ in the Latin alphabet, Драх ('drakh') in shorthand Cyrillic and ₯ in both Latin and Cyrillic). A drachma is divided into 100 kopecks. At current approximately 2.6 drachmas are equal to one Universal Standard Dollar. In times of economic crisis the exchange rate was known to be in the hundreds.

During the dark early days of independence following the revolution, money was expensive to create and kopecks and 1 and 5 drachmas were minted as cheap aluminium alloy coins. Thankfully this period did not last long and the economy was soon back up on its feet. Shortly after the paper note was introduced, people were encouraged to trade in their drachma coins for notes, as due to security reasons (people can easily forge their own cheap aluminium coins with the right materials) it was not considered viable to keep the old coins as legal tender. Despite their relative worthlessness, the old coins are highly sought after as collectors' items.

The Emerald Legions use the Bezant. Which they adopted during a period of high trade with the Byzantine Empire.

Currently it is an entirely digital form of currency.
