About

In a small peninsula, in a lonely and forgotten coast surrounding a great range of mountains, lie the possessions of the Fariselian Dispossessed, the refuge of the Teleri elves. Long ago the great Dirnaith ships delivered to this coast, where they found security from their enemies and resources to exploit, and also great ruins left by their kin in ages past.

Now the ruins are agitated by commercial life, and from the top of the mountains to the rocky and turmoiled beaches the Teleri elves live again. Their prospectors extract gold iron and silver from the deths of the mountains, their traders and courtiers flourish in the rebuilt marvel of Farisel city, and their mariners sail again to all the world, delivering and acquiring trading goods for their profit.

The land of Farisel is savage, and yet stricken by an untamed beauty. On its rocky coasts the ocean rage, its black waters rising as wave after wave pummel the coast with the exception of the elven well guarded ports. The proud and tall mountains are cold, and their gorgues treacherous. The cultivated land is scarce, and most of it is filled with the marshy rice fields of the fariselians, their principal food source. The climate is also harsh, extremely cold in the snowed peaks of the mountains, and eternal mist fog and rain covers most of the landscape. The sky is usually grey, and the humidity can easily freeze a man to the bone.

Between the wild sea and the aloof mountains stands Farisel, the Stone City, only partly rebuilt, the many piers of their vast port still half empty. It is ruled by Queen Daeris, believed to be last descendant of the Teleri Kings. Her ensorcelled palace stands proud, the magespire in its center a marvel of white marble and grey granite in the midst of the palaces of her kin. The fariselians are still few, and their resources scarce, yet their determination is strong, as it is their confidence in their arts and skills. Each and every Teleri elf in Farisel is willing to try their best on their Queen's intent of rebuilding a properous Kingdom or perishing in trying.

For every empty granary and warehouse there is one filled with goods from many far away lands and civilizations. For every ruined house there is one filled with a growing family. For every empty rampart there is another occupied by a determined guard. The ships still sail, the dragons still fly, and the elves still breath. While Farisel stands, the Teleri will remain.

History

The arrival of the fariselians to their current location was not a random event. In their charts the peninsula appeared as a haven, a Falas, a place where they kin once did live and prosper. Isel, once a proud and thriving Teleri community in the far reaches of the world. A legend on itself, a place where great mansions of rock were built with the cooperation of the bearded kin, where ships still sailed to wage war and trade around the coasts.

The fleet took wing, abandoning their former lands to the depredations of orc and human alike, just to find the refuge Isel promised. Their former colony was doomed, and it was just a matter of time before the invaders plunged into their lands and rravaged what little was left. Princess Daeris consulted her divinations and predictions, as the last from the lineage of the Teleri wizards, and decided to leave.

The last Teleri Admiral guided the fleet of refugees across the oceans, meanwhile the last Great Wyrm flew over them with the last heir of the Teleri royalty riding on its back. The trip was long and eventful, and many ships were lost due the storms, the pirates or even worse. The crews of the remaining ships dwindled from hunger and disease, and barely more than half of those who started the epic travel reached alive to their destination.

And yet fate did weave another cruel joke of the survivors, for there were no Haven, no standing refuge. They faced the worst of what the tides had to offer just to find a city in ruins, an empty port, and just a shadow of what Isel once was. Not even corpses, no recent clues of what happened to the previous settlers. It was once a great city indeed, a walled city of stone, with a port large enough as to be filled with a navy as long as the largest one in Teleri history. Yet everything was empty and in ruins. Roads led to abandoned mines and smelters in the mountains. The stone piers were filled with lichen and seaweed from abandon. There was nothing to find in Isel but the shade of a once great city.

And yet there was hope. The Queen did not abandoned her intentions. There was no kin to help, and yet there were resources to be exploited, and a protected location for ships and refugees alike. The elves did devote themselves to rebuild what once was a great elven city. Mines were purged of invaders, mountains cleaned of bandits. Walls were refilled, houses rebuilt, palaces inhabited once more. Roads were cleaned, the port restaured. Lighthouses were placed, and fortresses in the mountains restored. Trade once more flourished, and fishers once more created their fish farms in the outskirt of the coast. Farmers ploughed their rice fields, the climate wet enough and the rain abundant enough as to give them abundant crops in the scarce arable land.

The elves worked for an entire decade to restore some of the former glory of Isel, and their work now is far from complete. The Teleri are still too few to fill the great halls and their ships are too few to fill the vast piers of the ancient ports of Falasanor and Falasithil, yet time it is not an issue. They are bent to follow the way of greatness in their new colony, now Farisel, the New Isel. Isel Reborn.

Culture and Religion

Fariselians are long lived people. So long lived that if no blade cut them down and no magical plague destroy their visages, their lives can go on for centuries, or evenn for millenia, if the World's Weariness does not take them away. That makes them a conservative people, their age old customs premeating every aspect of their society, their values so so engraved in their minds that no further reinforcement more than social pressure is needed for individuals to comply to them.

Fariselian families are few, the reproductive cycle of the elves long and scarce, and the companionship of the couple usually only last until the children can take care of themselves. More than husband and wife, the elves are parents, and so couples tend to dissapppear when their role as parents passes away. However, there are exceptions to this rule, and there are Teleri couple that remain together even in the abscence of progeny.

Once a couple dissolves, their members are welcomed to form new ones without any animosity, or to remain lone members of society. Regarding genders, there is a matriarchal tendency in the fariselian elves. Females are respected and participate in every aspect of fariselian civilization. They are farmers, soldiers, fisherwomen, and miners. Even they are ruled by a female, the former Princess and now Queen Daeris, a powerful, wise, and extraordinary spellcaster all by herself.

There is no caste system in the Teleri hierarchy. The errors of hereditary rule was what plagued them in the first place and forced them to abandon their former lands. They obey the Princess because of her own merits, and not for the blood running on her veins. Their commanders have earned their place due to knowledge, merits, or experience. Their nobles are nobles for the same reasons, and social mobility is high and easily achieved. Noble families descend to serfdom within a generation, and capable apprentices and farmers can rise from misery to greatness with the required effort. The Queen herself enforces this custom by imposing a extremely severe inheritance tax.

Fariselians are a reclused people to an extent. They are usually open to first contact with foreigners, as long as there is a clear reason for it. that is why their trade flourish. They have no qualm to deal with any other culture or civilization as long as profit is expected. They are courteous, educated and sensible to the sensivities or others at first, and this attitude is used in any of their interactions with foreigners.
Yet past that barriers, Teleri elves are really insular. They don't open themselves personally to foreigners, and they bar the doors of treatment once a fine line has been crossed. They refuse to deal with foreigners once their usefulness expires, and they do not chat or small talk with them. They do not show their emotions and feelings to anyone who is not an elf, and even to non Teleri elves they reserve themselves. They allow foreigners to visit their port and city, yet confined to special neighbourhoods and zones. Further contact is shunned and forbidden.

Teleri elves love whatever work they do and tend to try to refine it as an art, devoting themselves to train into perfection and complexity. Farmers tend to harvest their crops in elaborate patterns that however do not interfere with their productivity. Masons construct houses with big spires and carefully placed vaults. Martial Artists develop their techniques as dances, with elaborate flourishes, feints and complicate movements. They love to create and admire beauty, in everything they do, and most of their goods, from houses and furniture to weapons and dances, are perhaps extremely ornated and decorated in comparison with other cultures. Their white crafted furniture is famous, as it is their talent for creating delicate jewelry and tailor the most exquisite clothing. Music and poetry is extremely valued, and artists and artisans enjoy great status inside the Farisel society.

Religion for Fariselians is a relative thing, taken personally. There are a few scattered altars to the Valar, the main belief of the elves, yet worship is not organized into formalized religion. Donations and prayers are individually made and taken, and there are no social rites. Prayer is mostly undertaken as personal insight and meditation. There is no clergy to the Valar. Surprisingly, most of the population, almost without no exception, remains following the simple worshipping of their ancestors.

Territories

The Domain of Farisel is a territory enclosed in the westernmost Peninsula of the greatest central continent of Ceaden. It is hardly 100 miles long by around 95 miles in its widest point, as the peninsula narrows itself towards its tip. The center of the peninsula is occupied by a large and towering mountain range with tall peaks, and the rest forms a long coastal area. There are three different areas in which Farisel is divided.

-The Mountain ranges, with its tunneled mines where the Fariselians get most of their metal, guarded by the Thangaiesgar Fortress to the East and reaching almost the West Lighthouse to the West.

The Mines and Thangailesgar: In the mountain there are only the mines of Craulnughod of Caerithrid, big tunnelled complexes that descend by stone roads towards the ports, and that support a small population of their own. From these mines Farisel extracts a considerable revenue, and are well guarded by Passguards. To the east, sitting between the mountain range and the coast there is the great fortress of Thangailesgar, the Shield of the Coast, a castle from ages past rebuilt and manned by a relatively large number of the Farisel Guard, and that defend its eastern land frontier.

Improvements:
Mine: Craulnughod. 3000 Wood
Mine: Caerithrid. 3000 Wood
Extra Large Stone Fortress (Thangailesgar): 300 Stone

-The Gilorodrim plain, where foodstuff is farm and harvested, and the second Fariselian settlement was created. It is located to the Southeast, near the port of Falasanor.

The settlement of Gilorodrim and the Port of Falasithil: Gilorodrim is a safe community of farmers that dedicate themselves to tend the small yet productive rice fields around the plain that comprises all the arable land of Farisel. The port of Falasanor, nearby, does not receive the same amount of trade than its northern twin Falasithil, and as such remains mostly in ruins and only less than 20 per cent of its piers are functional. However, although there aren't many trading ships that reach Falasanor, it hosts a growing fleet of fishing boats, and the fishermen community is slowly growing.

Improvements:
Coastal Trade Post (Falasanor): 2,000 Wood
Small Wooden Walled Settlement (Gilorodrim): 100 Wood.

-The coast, with the twin ports of Falasanor and Falasithil covering both oceanic coasts, and the city of Farisel that stands as the metropolis of the colony.

The City of Farisel and the Port of Falasithil: The capital city of the Domain of Farisel sits on the shore of the Gulf of Farisel. It is home to the Queen Daeris, and also a trading hub of certain repute. The operations spawning from the great serving port of Falasithil reach this place, although it is not as bristling as the ports themselves. Falasithil is considered to be part of Farisel, although the foreigners cannot leave the port area and visit the city, where most elves live. The port of Falasanor receives a lot less trade than Falaithil and it is less populated.

Improvements:
Commercial Harbor (Falasithil): 3000 Wood
Medium Stone Walled Settlement (Farisel): 200 Stone

There are three outposts of guards inside Farisel, that serve as beacons of alarm in case of emergency, and as stop points for the patrols of the fariselian guard. the northernmost one is the North Lighthouse that watches over the ocean. Another tower is the gateway to the city of Farisel from the East, and another tower watches the entrance to the Gilorodrim Plain from the East.

Farisel Guard

A rather large part of the population of the Teleri refugees that came to Farisel were former soldiers of the Teleri navy. The remmanent of these forces is what now is known as the Fariselian Guard, a corps of warriors that have two main objectives. To man the fortifications located in the borders of their territory, mainly the castle of Baraduir, and serve in the Navy fleet as Mariners and sailors.

In Farisel, the guard is submitted to the Navy, that reigns as the supreme armed organization.

Provinces

Th Domain of Farisel is divided in provinces, each of them with particular characteristics, and often colorful specific details. Here you can find the list and data about each of the fariselian provinces, its rulers, the geography, the economy, and interesting facts about each of them:

Provinces of Farisel:

Falasithil, the Port of Stars

Falasithil:

Falasithil, sindarin for "Port of Stars", is the westernmost province of the Fariselian domain upon the peninsula of the eastern continent. it is known for its rather vast port placed upon the small bay in the inside of the horn, that gets the trade from the west on it. Falasithil is one of the two "axis" ports in the fariselian domain, and its location is economically vital for the interests of the empire. The entire population of the province lives in the port or in small villages inside its hinterland, although all of them work at the port employed by merchant clans or noble houses. The people in Falasithil enjoy a rather lavish livestyle, given that the revenue and profit from the port's activities is shared by the few inhabitants allowed to establish themselves there.

Lord of Falasithil: Caugirion the Sailor Prince, Warden of the Queen. His sigil has five argent stars upon sabre field, with an argent pile ordinary containing the fariselian symbol of wealth. The Sailor Prince's mount is Areth the Foamspirit, a turquoise female drake, Scion of Iregore.
Population: 900
Economical activities: Commercial Harbor. Naval base.
Improvements: Commercial Harbor, roads.

Falasanor:

Falasanor, sindarin for "Port of the Sun", is the main province located on the western continent of Ceaden. As its sister city Falasithil to the other side of the ocean, it holds one of the "axis" ports of the fariselian economy, although its population is larger than Falasithil, and lives in more villages located alongside the coast. The main port is located inside the bay protected by an island in the open sea, and it is the main harbor base for the fariselian navy at that side of the ocean. The population of Falasanor has always had a friendly rivalry with their eastern counterparts, and they also sport a large amount of income. While Falasithil represents tradition and ancient ancestry in Farisel, Falasanor represents evolution and change.

Lord of Falasanor: Ceredirchol the Gold Maker Prince, Warden of the Queen. His sigil has a tenne sun upon a per bend field sinister of gules and or. The Gold Maker Prince mount is Iyath the Dawn Horizon, a red male drake, Scion of Aghyath.
Population: 3,000
Economical activities: Commercial Harbor. Naval base. Fishing.
Improvements: Commercial Harbor, roads.
