Many dissidents claim our police are brutal and randomly beat citizens for no reason, but, our police are actually prohibited harming a citizen (or even a non-citizen) by our laws.

The police are seen as helpful and friendly, as people you could rely on to take out the rubbish if you were feeling under the weather. To criminals, though, it's a different story. The police don't take to kindly to criminals.

In prisons, criminals are often subject to brutal beating that leave many hospitalised, cattle prods, tasers, whips, all are common in prisons. No wonder that we have a virtually zero crime rate and a loving, loyal population.

The RHC or Rhyfelwyr Heddwch Cadw (Peace Keeping Warriors) are a Police/Militant force in The Rhyce Legacy. Our counties RHC are famously known in over 15 regions. "bravest warriors I have ever seen", "I couldn't have won that war without the help of They Rhyces RHC". The people adore them, and are our heroes and are treated as such. They will help any nation in need, friendly, or hostile nations alike show respect for the RHC. If you need help, we can give it to you.

Depends on which police branch. The Imperial Enforcer Corps are often seen as doughnut-chomping, cigar-smoking, gritty semi-military types who always turn a blind eye to traffic violations and often wind up committing them themselves. The Imperial Inquisition are seen as shady, ruthless dark-suited thugs.

The police are seen as pushovers whom can't get anything done. The problem is that crime is at an all time high and the police suffer from low funding and are overworked and stressed. Recently the government has been increasing police numbers to combat this, so now there are a bunch of inexperienced 20 some year old officers on the streets.

Our law enforcement agency is organized by the Bureau of Domestic Intelligence with regards to the hiring, inspection, and promotion of plain-clothes agents. By being under the command of the planetary government, law enforcers are expected to maintain military-grade discipline by refraining from indulgence, profanity, and force when possible. On the other hand, though, law enforcers are expected to maintain peak physical endurance along with a sharp, acute mind honed from reading holo-books and other manuscripts. And as per standard protocol, most of our citizenry hold respect for the duties of law enforcers, though there is always a tiny fraction of people whom desecrate the government via illegal methods.

In short, law enforcement is just one of many jobs requiring a triad of self-restraint, physical discipline, and public speaking.

Given that the job of our police a.k.a vigils is to prevent crime rather than to solve, they are prone to using force. A lot of force. Public floggings and beatings are daily occurrences, extrajudicial killings are equally common. They also have a reputation for corruption.
Example: A young thief is captured by the vigils. The victim doesn't wish to prosecute (Too long too costly). The vigils with their strong sense of duty and justice, use the butts of their AKs to beat the man to a bloody pulp. Realising they've taken it to far, they dump the mans body in a ravine.

That they're all ex-criminals (they are). Citizens often joke with officers about what they got busted for. That joke is usually answered with a size 13 combat boot to the jaw.

Given the amount that is invested into the Police and justice systems and social education, your average Britinthian plod is considered to be a protector of the innocent and upholder of the law, someone who is fair and competent. This is helped by the fact out Police are unarmed, meaning your average constable is 'user-friendly' has to rely upon training and his own courage to bring criminals to justice.

Of course their are always corrupt officers, as there are in any organisation, and different social classes will view them differently. The "chavs" of Britinthia have a well known hatred of the Police Force.

Now if PTAR (Police Tactical and Armed Response) are involved, then you have been a really bad boy. PTAR are called in when all possible peaceful avenues have been exhausted OR if the offender is an imminent danger to the public. PTAR are Special Forces. They have to pass the same training and selection regime as the SAS and SES. The only difference is specialisation, whether you want to save lives or sabotage missiles.

When PTAR are involved your chances of surviving the encounter are slim. Unless you surrender immediately they will treat you like any other terrorist, which means once they move in you will be killed on sight in order to protect the public.
I set out to create a nation based on few laws, and common sense. Then I realised people are half wits who will use any excuse to test the boundries, and no boundries would be anarchy. Britinthia now has red tape on a scale never before seen outside of the U.K.

Similar to what they actually are. Murderers and theives in police uniform, many would list them among the many gangs that prowl the streets of Undertown, however performing cruel activities for the government and their own enjoyment of violence and the simple desires of people.

The public tends to think they just sit around in their cars and hand out speeding tickets. Of course they do much more. They can be counted on to be friendly and professional most of the time, but have been labeled as too "trigger-happy" by the local newspaper.

There's virtually no difference between them and the military. They're usually seen as being cold, terrifying defenders of the law.

Well, people view MJC's soldiers, the force in Cruciland that acts both as it's military and police force, as very "stoic". You can take pictures of them, let your children play on them, and even kick them between the legs. THEY WILL STAY MOTIONLESS IN THEIR POWER ARMOR. If there's a problem, they look at you and walk over to help out, then wordlessly return to their posts. Overall, they're viewed as silent sentinels watching carefully over the city for any crime...

...and when they find a criminal, "HOLY SHIIIIIIIT! EVERYBODY, GET THE FUCK OUTTA HERE! THESE GUYS ARE EVIL! PURE FUCKING EVIIIILL! AAAAAAAH!"

...they're total sadistic monsters.

From a troublemaker's point of view: "Nationalist pig-dogs that mindlessly serve an insane leader."

Since Heradorian Military Police also work civil policing roles, there is a fairly common stereotype outside of Herador that Herador is a violent police state with hordes of faceless brutal police. Which is the farthest thing from the truth of course, most Heradorians think of the police as civil and professional.
