Censorship is not practiced in Alsegra; though this is more due to the fact that the leader declines to do so than it being specifically illegal. Ferris has stated that she regards widespread censorship as "impossible to enforce, so it'd be stupid to try".

Only materials supporting banned ideologies (Communism, National Socialism, and Human Supremacism) as well as Anarchism are censored. Everything else is perfectly legal... not that all political material that's legal is popular in our nation.

Free speech is only regulated in two cases:

1) Public Safety (You can't shout "Fire!" in a crowded theatre)
2) Slander/Libel (You can't go around telling lies about people)

Censorship is unconstitutional in Tsvarchi. As in, you may have the right to say anything you want, but you certainly can be held accountable for those words because slander and libel still applies regardless. Censorship of media is barred completely.

Slander and libel are civil offences; they are not police matters, and while victims may sue for damages, the perpetrator has committed no crime and receives no criminal record if found liable.

The Public Order Act makes several forms of speech and expression illegal; there have been a number of Supreme Court cases challenging the law, but the court has persistently ruled that the Bill of Rights' guarantee that every person should feel safe and secure is a balance to the protection of free speech.

Public Order Act 2006
Section 4 - Causing fear of violence - A person commits an offence if he uses towards another person threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour, or distributes or displays to another person any writing, sign or visual representation which is of a threatening, abusive or insulting nature, with the intent to cause any person to believe that an immediate unlawful violence is to be used towards him or another by any person, or to provoke the immediate use of unlawful violence by that person or another.
Section 4a - Causing intentional distress - A person commits an offence if he uses towards another person threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour, or displays any writing, sign or visible representation which is threatening, abusive or insulting, with the intent to cause any person alarm or distress.
Section 5 - Causing distress - A person commits an offence if he uses threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour, or displays any writing, sign or visible representation which is threatening, abusive or insulting, within the sight or hearing of a person who is likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress thereby.

Section 4 - maximum sentence is six months' rehabilitative custody and a S. 5,000 fine
Section 4a - maximum sentence is three months' rehabilitative custody and a S. 5,000 fine
Section 5 - maximum sentence is one months' rehabilitative custody and a S. 2,500 fine. Section 5 can be dealt with on the street by police officers without an arrest being made; if the person does not wish to contest the allegation and police believe that an arrest is inappropriate, they can charge an on-the-spot S. 80 fine.

It depends on what is being censored. Basic things like nudity and profanity are not censored.

Nothing is censored in Lerasia. You make your own choice though. If you act out what the media shows you you face consequences. In the case of non state-santioned ideology or religious practices you can be jailed/lose citizenship/ be executed in extreme cases. Then there's always common sense wrt what is portrayed on tv etc etc.

Only two things are censored:

1 - You can't say things like s***, f*** or c*** before 9pm on the TV or radio.
2 - You can't go around saying lies about people or companies.
Please note: Central Lothian is the direct successor to Mid Lothian*. As a result, I am still called Rebecca, I am still a Grammar Nazi and most information pertaining to ML also applies to CL (although I will be taking this time to change a few things).

* - And I may refer to the country as Mid Lothian. If I do, assume that I mean Central Lothian. (And not to be confused with "Midlothian" - I'm using that as a fascist version of CL.)

We barely have censorship. It is more of a temporal censorship such as if porn is on cable between two (when kids get out of school) and five in the afternoon.

It is not practice unless it breaks public safety or causes defamation. Then the person is capable of filing a law suit. Also slander is disallowed.
