For instance, it is estimated that the rate of STD contraction in non-military brothels hovers dangerously close to 95% for each sexual encounter.

Women can serve in any capacity that a man can serve in in each of the five active and seven reserve branches of the overall armed forces, though the physical requirements of the Special Forces units result in a much lower percentage of women in those units than in the armed forces. Additional restrictions are on attack submarines where there is little space and it is too cost prohibitive to enlarge the ship to add extra berthing spaces, resulting in maximum allowable number of female crew members at nine enlisted plus female chiefs and officers (max size of the female berthing space), so most of the female submariners serve in the Guided Missile and Ballistic Missile Submarine fleets.

Of course they can, the Stormtrooper Corps and the Imperial Navy both accept female and alien recruits. Although, this is mainly the Aeten divisions specific to our system. Otherwise the other areas of the Empire is racist towards xeno's and females are only commonly seen in the Navy, especially the officers.
