Absolutely true. It's really the way this Sidh said it, his patent lack of patriotic enthusiasm while making the statement, that got him sentenced to a harsh prison term. Most probably wasn't his first and only offense of a political nature too, 25 years being a term typically dispensed to hardened dissidents.

In any case, the Imperial armed forces are open to all Sidhae - both because it is not the Sidh way to be picky about who defends the interests of their empire, and because military service is the only way to earn full citizenship with political rights. Women make up around 40% of the armed forces, more preferring to serve in the Navy.

Seeing how the Imperium is constantly waging wars, the casualty rates among the troops are quite high at all times, hence the dissident's remark about troops being thrown in the grinder.

Psychotic Dictatorship

Postby Kaitjan » Thu Jan 28, 2016 6:59 am

Kaitjanese women are not conscripted into military service, and neither are they drafted in times of war or recruited as voluntary soldiers. Females are allowed into support units and rear echelons in roles such as a cooks, nurses and other, noncombatant support staff. There has been instances of women being armed and throw into combat, but those instances were a result of desperation during the many wars Kaitjan fought in the past century. Today there has been experimentation with allowing women into mitary aviation academies and officer education, but as of now there is no evidence that the military plans to change its policies.
The People's Republic of Kaitjan is a nation most glorious: a totalitarian communist dictatorship set against a backdrop of vast jungles, great rivers and a horribly tropical climate. Kaitjan is renowned for its all-encompassing militarism, rampant xenophobia, isolationist tendencies and a great love for tigers and tiger motifs.

Kovrukan women are not allowed to fight on the front lines, not because they are considered "weaker" or "lesser" than men, but because they have different purposes in our society, such as being the main pillar of our families. However, if a woman shows enough enthusiasm and wishes to serve the Empire on the glorious Art of War, then her capabilities are tested like with every recruit. If she passes the training, she will be assigned to the Urban Guard of her city, from where she will have to advance through the ranks like everyone.

Most women in the Kovrukan War Machine are high rank officers, where they truly shine thanks to their natural cunning, and they receive the same respect (maybe more, I have to admit) as their male counterparts.
All posts are made by the Kovrukan Ministry of External Inteligence. The Emperor will interact with other nations through the aforementioned organism.

Because of our auto-inscription, all women, and men, server 2 years in the branch of their choosing. Accept at war time, when they are assigned a branch based on the needs of the military.

In the regular military basic training, men and women train and sleep separately, though they eat and attend class together throughout BMT

They can opt for an all female unit, just as men can opt for an all male unit. Of course it all depends on whether their Stationing Officer grants their request.

All as long as they make the requirements they are allowed in special forces, but if they become a liability to their squad then they will be removed and given additional training (just as a male liability would).

Yes, they serve in the same units as men. However, most women that lack the physical strength needed most often serve on a desk or manufacturing job.

Women are not just allowed to serve, they are obligated to, as are all citizens of the Commonwealth of Noraika.

All citizens are required by law to, at turning 18-years-old, serve in the military. All must go through 15 weeks of basic training, serve one more full year in the military (amounting to a service of 77 weeks total), and remain in the reserves, with regular refresher exercises (40 - 100 days a year dependent upon rank), until the age of 50 or 60 (dependent upon rank).

There are no barriers to what areas or roles a citizen may take in the military. With that said, only in very exceptional cases of conscientious objectors can a conscript take a non-combative role in the military. By default, and by law, all citizens are expected and required to take some form of combat-role when serving in conscription. Soldiers are commissioned to units as determined by random lottery, so there is no segregation between soldiers of different types in terms of unit composition or service on the field.

Other fun facts:
1) The General of the Armies (the Premier), and the Minister for Defence, are both women (Lára Ingasdóttir & Emma Guðbjörgsdóttir respectively.)

The Deep Army and noble levies do not, and never have, discriminate based on anything but physical prowess- and perhaps sometimes bloodline. Each family, furthermore, is required to send one member, typically a son or daughter, as a levy when they come of age. This is reneged for certain families who require these children in order to support themselves.

Have been since long before the current nation was established in 1681. Culturally, anybody able to hold a sword was expected to be able to fight if need be. And if they were able to, it makes sense to have them on the front lines anyway. Thus, women have always been a large portion (as much as 40% sometimes) of the military force. Women are also required to apply for the draft as soon as they turn 18. This effectively doubles the manpower (ahem, womenpower) available to the Army in a major war.

In Augusticinia, Men and Women may serve in the military. Due to biological differences though they do serve in different divisions and there is slight variation in some of the tasks and training given to both genders. Women and men may serve in any branch as well.

Men, women and children are all required to fight for the glory of the Apocalypse at some point in their lives. But while both genders serve in combat roles, only men are allowed to become commandos.

Anyone who refuses military service soon finds themselves hauled off to the gallows like the filthy traitors they are.

The majority of military positions judge by specific criteria, of which physical sex is not a part. While this means there is no official ban on female soldiers, the top female applicants will generally be on par with the average male applicants assuming both are physically fit and so there will tend to be more men. The Ranger and Grenadier Regiments buck the trend, in opposite ways. Female Rangers are much more common percentage-wise than female General Infantry, due to the focus on marksmanship and intelligence gathering in Ranger training and a lesser focus on raw strength. Women tend to make good snipers, which is part of the whole point of the Rangers. By contrast, the very high physical standards of the Grenadier Regiments means that never in history has there been a female Grenadier. Even about 80% of men are not strong enough to become Grenadiers, and the remaining 20% tend to need steroid treatments even then.

The Naval, Air, and Intelligence Forces of the Imperial Army focus less on physical strength and therefore have a high percentage of women; especially the last of those three, where the general perception of women as less dangerous than men can be exploited.

Female officers are less rare, as planning military strategies is not dependent on physical strength. There are still more male officers though.
