Name- The Empire of Egalitarian Akros
Population- 116 million
Language- Akrosian, of course.
Ethnic Groups- there are no ethnic groups, but one nationality...Akrosian.
Religion- Equalism...the worship of the Duality of Equals is the overwhelming majority faith. However, the new Emperor Aldenar is an avowed atheist and has declared Egalitarian Akros a secular state.
Government- Benevolent Despotism....the Emperor or Empress rules for life, being chosen a predecessor who must be of the opposite sex. All other officers of state are appointed by the Empress and her subordinates. All dissent is considered sedition.
Diplomacy- Isolationist until recently, with the first ever diplomatic corps created and the first ever embassies permitted in Akrosian history.
Economics- corporate state model, with private enterprise for the most part, but directed, regulated, and planned for the good of society by the government. Some industries, such as abortion and armaments, are under public ownership.
Social Taboos/Mores: strict equality and serial monogamy are ruthlessly enforced. Marriage can be heterosexual or homosexual, but is only for a non-renewable term of 5 years, officially ending with the Expiration instead of divorce (which doesn't exist on Akros). Interracial sex is punishable by death. Adultery is punishable by imprisonment. So is incest. Masturbation, while technically legal, is very much discouraged as wasteful. Dildos are illegal. Joint-custody of children is automatic upon the Expiration, though much of child-rearing is done by the State, anyway. Public nudity is a serious crime.
Update...the sex laws, among other such rules and regulations, are presently under review by the newly installed Emperor, Aldenar, victor in the recent civil war.
