Christmas is celebrated in Central Lothian in much the same way as in the United Kingdom - even down to the monarch making a 10min speech to the nation at 3pm (Edinburgh time).
Please note: Central Lothian is the direct successor to Mid Lothian*. As a result, I am still called Rebecca, I am still a Grammar Nazi and most information pertaining to ML also applies to CL (although I will be taking this time to change a few things).

* - And I may refer to the country as Mid Lothian. If I do, assume that I mean Central Lothian. (And not to be confused with "Midlothian" - I'm using that as a fascist version of CL.)

Christmas is a beloved and very large holiday here, notable for the decorating of christmas trees, large family gatherings, and exchanging of gifts. It is also the second most holy day on the Catholic Calendar, and being a country with a 65% Catholic Population, this means that churches are filled to capacity in the late morning and early afternoon on Christmas Day.

Jesus was not born in December, so we do not celebrate his birth in December, we celebrate his birth and death on Easter. However, we celebrate Winter Solstice and New Years around that time.

\We too recognize this, but feel that it is too much hassle to change the date of the holiday, and it is so associated in our culture with the early winter snows (usually starting between Dec. 1 and Dec. 15)

Zearing the same. It is one of the nation's favorite and most widespread holidays. Celebrations take place nationwide, and the Christmas Day Parade in Blaire is really quite impressive.

However, there are also local equivalents of the holiday here as well. In Saurisia proper, it's known as Giving Day, among the Dragons it's called Sharan Tad, or Day of Sharing, among the Khalkans it's called Rhanesna, or Family Day, while the Serpens call it Ak'an Fo, or Holy Night.

I like Ak'an Fo best out of the lot of them, to be honest.

We don't really celebrate Christmas here we allow Religious people days off on their "Holy Days" but thats all. Its to remain neutral when it comes to religion. Every "Holy Day" is a national day off only for people of that religion. Its in order to keep every thing still going.

Christmas is somewhat popular to celebrate, even though 7% of the population are Christians, around 25% actually celebrate Christmas as a old custom from when the nation was dominantly Christian. An estimate of 50% actually trade gifts.

Christians celebrates Christmas by attending mass and exchanging gifts and carrying in a tree inside, rather strange but they do seem to like it.

Followers of the holy chronicles on the other hand celebrates midvinter as one of the holier days according to the holy chronicles by a animal sacrifice and ritualistic prayer followed by a large feast.

In the Militaristic Federation of the Sheika, Christmas is celebrated on the 25th of December, with festivities all throughout the month of December. With most citizens within the Federation being Agnostic, most festivities that are held throughout the Month are non-denominational, although all faiths are more than welcome to hold services both public and private. Starting on the 1st of December, the values of peace of Earth and Goodwill towards men, women, and children are taught in public service announcements brought to the citizens by the AdCouncil and the Foundation for a Better Life. Non-denominational specials are aired on television, with "The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus" being one of the more popular along with "Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer".
During the month of December, the National Military runs a program taking donations of toys for children and making food baskets for those who are less than fortunate. Also during this time, it is common for service members to volunteer for Christmas Parades, lighting festivals, and even pose as Santa Claus himself. On the 25th of December, families and friends come together to exchange gifts and stories of their time throughout the year; it is not uncommon for alcohol to be present at any of these gatherings. Flag and Field Officers of the National Military take the time to invite subordinates, who have no homes to go to or are too far away from home, to dinner with their families and friends; in some instances, said officers can be found in the dining facilities serving their troops as an opportunity to boost morale.
At one point, the controversy of saying either "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays" was the talk of the people, but after some debate, as well as the thinkers of the Federation's Universities coming together to help decide the best course of action, it was decided that both greetings were appropriate and getting upset over such a trifle matter during the holidays was a moot point.

In Ruskarkand, Christmas isn't referred to as Christmas. It's referred to as "The Peak of the Summit."
It's basically a small week where whole families get together over a large feast over the course of a week, starting from the 25th and progressing through to the 31st. Within the week, the families share stories from the year and exchange presents and all sorts in that sort of manner. Everyone who is a Dragonkinian pretty much participates, be they Dragon or Dragoon.. Even some Archimedes Dragon's tend to celebrate it as well though, with families and members of their bloodline alike.

It's a time where the families and bloodlines reflect upon their success throughout the year, and relish in celebration of their own and the success of other's success. It's traditionally done with the family, but there have been many occurrences where there have been two unmarried members, both of which are in love of course, from two separate bloodlines spending the week together, or parts of it anyway. These acts are not frowned upon, most parents endorse their offspring's decision to spend time with their lover, especially on the Peak of the Summit. More traditional Dragonkinian, however, will forbid their children from going out during the week, as it is a family orientated celebration after all.

Those who find themselves without a bloodline or family often go into the forests and join the Archimedes Dragons and their celebration, it's the same thing, but they welcome other Dragonkinians to their small ring.. considering they usually feast on huge masses of fish and sorts, there are usually a few whales on the stockpile as well. The majority of this is gathered by the expert hunters amongst the rings. Normal Dragonkinians will not be much of a strain on how much is consumed at one time, since they are a tiny fraction of the size of an Archimedes Dragon. The Archimedes Dragons usually don't talk about their successes during the year, there is not much on the agenda to talk about other than what they have hunted and the outcomes of mating have produced... nothing much to gloat about, so they just gather for the feast and the socializing.

During the Final Week, most industries close down, people flock to their homes to reunite with their families... Even the Military.
All in all though, a lot happens in this particular part of year for us, probably not explained it as well as I could of, but I digress.

Humans and their homo-sapien brothers did bring Christmas to the nation...

It is merely for the exchange of gifts, there is no religious connotation permitted...
It is well documented that nativity scenes built by human families are burnt to the ground, and families in mid prayer are dragged from their homes and fiercely interrogated...

We're a little paranoid about religion here, keep it on the down low and we're happy...

Christmas, or "Earth Winter Holiday", is promoted by the government of Lemonius - bringing further revenue to the nation is always on the agenda for us...
My factbook has been in disarray since Imageshack was subject to new management
Formerly Venezue, founded in June '09 now Lemonius, regularly 'inactive' since 2014
