Threat Level Midnight : Cataclysmic Nuclear Event Occuring. Please Remain in your Homes.
Threat Level Lock : Imminent or Ongoing Threat. Martial Law is declared. Foreign Legion Deployed.
Threat Level Sword : All Verlorenen radio call-signs are switched to wartime classification. Foreign Legion on 10-Minute Alert.
Threat Level Omega : All Police are to remain extra watchful for suspicious activities and patterns in the community. Foreign Legion on 24-Hour Alert.
Threat Level Shield : All Police to remain at appropriate vigilance. Foreign Legion on 48-Hour Alert.

AP has a few different warning systems that are used for Military Alertness and Civil Defense Alertness.

Military:

Green - No threats
Guarded - Attack from terror or foreign entity is potential
Elevated - Attacks from terror or other foreign entity is likely
Severe - Attacks considered eminent be on alert.

Civil

Civil Defense Alertness applies only to catastrophe. In the past it applied to both terrorism as well as military threats while the Military scale was used purely at the political level. Today to avoid confusion it's limited.

Failure- Power failure or overload of the system is likely. (Often during peak activity in the summer months) . It also applies to a failing in a nuclear facility though at present it's never happened.

Storm Watch - Conditions are favorable for a violent storm and/or typhoon.

Storm Warning - A storm is eminent, take shelter or prepare to evacuate

Storm Emergency - A fast moving storm is likely to occur within a short period.

Monster Attack - This is a joke warning that sometimes appears on alert charts for laughs. It would tell that a Godzilla or other creature will attack. It appears in various simulator games played by children.

National Defence Readiness Levels

NDRL 1 - Wartime readiness, but we won't need that will we? (nervous twitch)
NDRL 2 - Prepared for nationwide mobilization, large peacekeeping operation
NDRL 3 - Prepared/preparing for regional/national mobilization, small peacekeeping operation
NDRL 4 - Domestic disturbance level
NDRL 5 - Peacetime

The Bretonian Threat Level system is largely typical of those in use across the galaxy, and they are regularly broadcast to commercial news networks to help raise civilian awareness levels. It is a unified system, dealing with both domestic and foreign threats, of both a civilian (i.e. terrorism, piracy) and martial (i.e. aggressive foreign governments) nature. Citizens are advised to keep up-to-date with the present Threat Level.

• Threat Level 1 - Low: There are no significant threats against Bretonian interests, and security levels are nominal.
• Threat Level 2 - Moderate: The Bretonian government is aware of a potential threat against Bretonia, but the risk of an attack is considered to be low. Security levels are heightened, but otherwise normal.
• Threat Level 3 - Substantial: The risk of attack is considered to be moderate to high. Security checks will be in effect at all jump gates - particularly the Alpha-Epsilon Jump Gate.
• Threat Level 4 - Severe: Risk of attack is considered to be extremely likely. Military assets will be mobilised, at least on a limited scale, and the jump gate and tradelane networks will be either locked down to civilian traffic entirely or subjected to extremely heavy security. BRAF patrols may become significant around key strategic interests.
• Threat Level 5 - Critical: An attack upon Bretonia is imminent. Civilians will be advised to take shelter as the government engages the emergency subspace broadcast system. All jump gates and trade lanes will be locked down and reserved for military use, and special dispensation will be needed in order for a civilian to use them. Naval forces shall be mobilised ready for engagement, individual warships shall sound general quarters, and planetary defences shall be active.

At present, the Bretonian Threat Level is pegged at Level 2 - Moderate, due to possible tensions in the galaxy surrounding the IRON alliance, and due to Corsair pirate activity.
