That all depends of the scale of the violence. Our police forces first classify the severity of the riot according to a scale and then deploy the measures called for in the description. The are summarised below.

D class situation

Examples;

Peaceful protest/demonstration with >200 attendees and/or large public events with >400 attendees.

Personnel and equipment;

Local police deployed with light armour and pepper spray

Objectives;

Prevent the outbreak of violence

Tactics;

Police officers are to moniter the crowd at all times for signs of violence or attempts to insight violence and subdue the perpetrators.

Class C situation

Examples:

Unruly crowds >300 people in size.

Personnel and equipment;

Local police in medium armour with small personal shields, armed with pepper spray, tear gas and tasers.

Objectives;

End the violence, disperse the crowd and arrest as many instigators as possible.

Tactics;

Use tear gas and loudspeakers to disperse the crowd and subdue troublemakers, using pepper spray and tasers if necessary


Class B Situaiton

Examples;

Violent crowds >400 people in size that pose an immediate danger to property and personal safty.

Personnel and equipment;

Local riot squads in full gear are deployed, armed with tear gas canisters and guns , mace guns, and tasers. The yare supported by armoured vehicals armed with water cannons

Objectives;

End the violence and disperse the crowd with as little loss of life as possible.

Tactics;

The riot squad forms a line two rows deep. The line advances with the front row banging their batons on their shields in unison, while the row behind them fires tear gas and mace canisters into the crowd. Violent people close to the line are subdued with tear gas and mace guns. Large groups may be dispersed with vehicle mounted water cannons.

Class A situation

Examples;

Violent crowds >600 people in size

Personnel and equipment;

Tactics;

The lines of riot police are increased to 3 rows deep with the middle row armed with shotguns loaded with rubber buck. Tactics remain the same as for Class B Situations.

Class X Situation

Examples;

widespread violence and civil unrest causing property destruction and loss of life.

Personel and equipment;

Riots of this scale require the deployment of the national civil violence pacification force (CVPF). They are armed with high cap. tear gas and mace guns, semi and full auto shot guns loaded with high density rubber buck, flash bangs, taser grenades, shock shields and batons.

The CVPF squads are backed up by CPV-67 heavy riot suppression vehicles (code name 'Crushers'), eight wheeled trucks armed with tear-gas and mace canister launchers and dispersal hoses, water cannons, loud speakers and a 5.56mm machine gun armed with rubber bullets.

Objectives;

End the violence by all means necessary.

Tactics;

*TACTICS USED BY THE CVPF DO NOT GARUNTEE THE SAFETY OF RIOTERS*

Two crushers advance slowly towards a violent crowd. Over the load speaker orders to disperse are given. If they are not followed, the crushers launch volleys of tear gas, mace and flash bang grenades into the crowd. They begin to advance into the crowd using their water cannons, tear gas and mace dispersers and machine guns (if required) to disperse the crowd by force.

A line of CVPF personnel four rows deep follows the crushers into the crowd. The first row bangs their shields in unison and use the shock feature on anyone who gets too close while the second row fire at distant rioters with their shot guns. The third row stay behind as the first too rows move through the crowd, pacifying any one left with tear gas and mace guns, leaving the forth row to detain them.

Here is what we do for the 4 different types of riots:

CLASS A RIOT:Small protest, only a few dozen to a few hundred people, and they're usally protesting, and not violent, and if they are, they do little acts of violence like throwing trash, but nothing else and the city police usally are called in, and they're in normal gear, and they usally disperse quickly.

CLASS B RIOT:Medium riot, involves a few thousand, a bit more violent then Class A ones, and this usally has to have the Police called in with their riot gear (riot shields, body armor, and M79 grenade launchers,for teargas,nightsticks, pepper spray, and teargas) They usally shoot blanks and tear gas into the crowds, they usally disperse quickly.

CLASS C RIOT:Large scale right, involves tens of thousands-a few million, they're very violent, and both the police in their riot gear along with the ANG (Andrew National Guard) is called in, and the ANG usally arrives on unarmed veichles such as troop transport trucks, and AHUMVEES. and they use tear gas, but insteand of blanks, they have real bullets, and they have authorization to open fire onto the rioters until they disperse

CLASS D RIOTS:Massive scale riot, hundreds of millions are rioting, and they're VERY violent, and dangerorous, and now the Riot Police, Andrew National police riot police, and ANG are called into action, and the ANG comes in with APCs with mountend weapons, AHUMVEEs with mounted weapons, and tanks and armed helicopters, and all of the police and military forces that are deployed are armed with real guns with real bullets, and have both full authority and authorization given personally by Emperor Andrew to open fire onto the crowds until they disperse.

Riot Police in TurtleShroom are famously unarmed, but they are surrounded by traditional police who provide the firepower for them. To do their job, they take their cross staff in their right hand and their shield in their left and beat the rioters with the crosses while the cops with guns wait to see if they are needed. If the beatings don't work, riot police will either use firehoses (the preferred method) or tear gas to disperse the riot by force.

TurtleShroomer Riot Police are unique in that they do not wear robes; they are one of the only police divisions that don't wear a robe or cloak-like garment.

The difference between normal and riot police in TurtleShroom are as follows:

• They do not wear robes, while normal police do.
• Normal police in TurtleShroom are equipped with shotguns. Riot police in TurtleShroom are equipped with tear gas grenade launchers and are not armed. (Normal police assist the riot police by bearing arms for them.)
• Obviously, riot police possess giant shields. These read "ROMANS 13:1-3" and are impenetrable by most types of guns, and all guns that a civillian can LEGALLY obtain.
  
• Riot police carry a special cross staff as a symbol of their authority. If you've ever seen a Crucifer Staff, you've seen this.

Riots are dealt with severely and swiftly. At first, the police have all rights to quell the rebellion in any non-lethal way. This means rubber bullets, tear gas, pepper spray, etc. Anything that does not directly kill can be employed. If the riot becomes too much for the police, the Overseers are brought in. They have their music boxes, which produce sounds said to originate from an Elder God, which can make anyone untrained to it become insane for a temporary period. All rioters are detained and sorted afterwards.

Overseers wear bulletproof armor beneath their clothes and bulletproof masks that strike fear in the rioters. They're trained to the same extent as a basic infantryman.

All National and Department Police troopers can double as riot troops, and are given proper training and equipment to suit this role. Riot police are outfitted with light, stab-proof ballistic vests, as well as helmets, gas masks, and light plastic shields. They are generally armed with wooden or metal side handle batons, mace, CS grenades, and service pistols, generally in either .380 ACP or 7.62mm Tokarev.

The use of non-lethal weapons is rare by police, both riot troops and patrol officers alike. In the even of a riot, troops are trained to assemble in force, and use first CS gas to disperse the crowd, followed by aggressive use of the baton if necessary. Officers are only authorized to fire if they feel their life, or the life of another, is in imminent danger. In extreme civil disturbances, additional troops may be called in, including local Basque People's Militia units and troops from the People's Commissariat of the Interior. These units are armed with a variety of small arms, particular CETME rifles and MG3 machine guns, as well as armored personnel carriers. They are used as support for local police units, and if necessary are authorized to use lethal force to restore the situation.

If a riot does occur, we can use a cavalry charge to put them to flight, or open up with artillery, or run them over with tanks, or just plain old mow them down with guns.

Disorderly and non-traditional behavior is not tolerated in the Vuzghul empire.

For an acceptable riot that has simply gone too far, we have people with whips and flails beat the rioters off.
