Sharia Law Banned In Hawaii

Postby The Sovereign Hawaiian Islands » Sat Oct 15, 2011 7:26 pm

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Washington Place

HONOLULU - Prime Minister Adam Makahanaloa announced today that he would sign SB144/HR339 entitled the "DEFENSE OF COMMON LAW ACT", passed earlier today by the Parliament, as soon as it arrived on his desk. The law, which has proven controversial among Muslims and civil rights supporters including members of the Hawaii Civil Liberties Union (HCLU), clearly states that Sharia Law will be banned in the Kingdom of Hawaii, citing the responsibility of the government to defend its common-law system.

"Our citizens cannot be subject to separate legal systems," Senator Dallas Henriques (NAT), the introducer of the bill. "It is irrelevant if Sharia law deals with moral and religious matters or not. The fact is, we have a legal system that applies to all people fairly. This cannot be disrupted by adherence to Sharia law or the establishment of Sharia courts. Hawaii's law is the law of the land, and it should remain so."

2,000 citizens have already protested the legislation, and are calling for the Supreme Court to chime in.

"Clearly, there will be citizens who will be upset," explained the Prime Minister. "But, this measure essentially is designed to protect the law of the land - our laws, and to make clear what court stands as the nation's sole legal and constitutional authority. That is the Supreme Court."

The signing of the bill will take place at Washington Place at 2:00 p.m.

TERRORIST ATTACK ON HONOLULU KILLS 700

Postby The Sovereign Hawaiian Islands » Mon Oct 17, 2011 1:17 am

Image
HONOLULU – Nearly 700 people have been killed and another 450 people injured when several large explosions tore through six of the eight government buildings in central Honolulu, including Honolulu Hale, where the Governor’s office is housed. Governor Kimberley Ramos was in Christchurch, Niu Aotearoa during the attack. Lt. Governor Alexandra Keyes was meeting with the President and was also away from the City Square. Two undetonated bombs were found in both buildings left standing, and the President officially declared it a terrorist attack.

In his speech to the nation from a undisclosed location, the President spoke of the events of the day from an unidentified location, saying, “At 7:55 a.m., a bomb was detonated tearing through the center of Honolulu Hale. Five minutes later, at 8:00 a.m., additional bombs were simultaneously detonated and six of the eight structures in Honolulu Square were destroyed. Two undetonated bombs found in Building 3 and Building 8 have led us to determine this as a premeditated terrorist attack on the city of Honolulu.”

“When I turned the corner, I saw an about twenty bodies on the side of the street,” said Alex Monahan, a freelance photographer who just left the Governor’s office. “And, about five minutes later, the explosions from the other buildings flew me across the street.”

“A car which had caught on fire, at first, seemed to be the cause of the incident,” said Police Chief James Marlowe. “But, of course, we immediately ruled that out when the other buildings exploded.” He continued, “We are actively seeking out more information from the public as to who may be responsible for this vicious murder of innocent people.”

Image
President Makahanaloa heard the blasts from Washington Place. Upon receiving information about the incident from the Honolulu Police Department, the Presidential Guard rushed the President and all those on the grounds of Washington Place to safe area. All members of Congress were immediately evacuated to the Capitol bunkers. Police were sent to schools which were put immediately on lock down. Hospitals were being prepared to both receive the wounded and evacuate patients in case of an emergency.

“Within fifteen minutes, the military had been placed into immediate action,” said Gen. Erick G. Lee, the Secretary of Defense. “The air force sent up fighter jets to watch the skies, the army were dispatched to priority areas, and the navy and coast guard were told to maintain seas.”

Visitors at the Pearl Harbor Memorial Center were also taken to safe locations in fear of an attack on Joint Base Pearl Harbor – Hickam, he added.

“It was like preparing for war,” said Col. Adam Leandro (HRN). “And, in reality, we may be soon preparing for some sort of conflict.”

Meanwhile, the City Square was in complete chaos as firefighters, police and other emergency responders rushed to the scene. People, many in a confused daze, were wandering around the City Square trying to do their best to get out of the way and help others in need.

“It was like the end of the world,” said Janis Letterman, a reporter who had just come from lunch with friends in a nearby restaurant. “We heard the first explosion and decided to go see. We heard more explosions and when we came closer, it was just mass destruction and hysteria.”

“I work in a building only a few buildings away,” said Ted Kahaleoumi, a maintenance worker for Pacific Records. “All the windows were just completely shattered by the second round of explosions. It’s just unbelievable to see what’s happened here.”

While others continued to sort through the devastation, the whole of the nation continued to search for answers, asking, “Why us? Why Hawai‘i?” The government is asking, “Who is responsible for this terrible act of cowardice?”

In a phone conversation with Hawai‘i News Now, O‘ahu Governor Kimberley Ramos, who has been told to remain in Niu Aotearoa until further notice, said, “I am continuing to be kept informed by the President. I am trusting Lieutenant Governor Keyes with all of my duties and responsibilities until I am told that I may return to Hawai‘i.”

“Right now, we don’t know who is responsible,” said Lt. Governor Keyes in an interview with Sunrise KGMB9 anchor Steve Uyehara. “But, while I’m acting Governor, I will continue to meet with the President, his advisers, the Congressional leadership, and I will keep Governor Ramos informed of all new details and information.”

“While I cannot be sure,” said UH Professor Don Broyle, “it may be possible that Islamic extremists may be responsible for the attack due to the recent ban on Sharia law in the Kingdom.” He continued, “This may be a form of retaliation, and, it’s absolutely devastating.”

While 698 is the current official number of dead, the Honolulu Police Department stated that such a number is preliminary and may rise as the search and clean up continues.

“Right now, the number stands at 698 confirmed dead,” said Lt. Michael Harris, the official public affairs liaison for the department. “However, I will state that the number may rise depending on what happens over the next day or two. There may be others who were unaccounted for.”

The President’s Office has announced that President Makahanaloa will address a Joint Session of Congress tonight at a location that will not be disclosed until airtime. The message will be broadcast on all Hawaii-based and U.S.-based networks at 6:00 p.m. HST. The President’s location has yet to be verified.

PRESIDENT ADDRESSES CONGRESS

Postby The Sovereign Hawaiian Islands » Tue Oct 18, 2011 7:20 pm

Image
HONOLULU – Kawaiaha‘o National Church was the site of President Makahanaloa’s special address to a joint session of Congress as the Capitol Building was deemed unsafe for such a gathering of Hawai‘i’s senior political leaders and their families. And yet, as with other state addresses, cabinet member Allen Kuahu‘ia, the Secretary of Education, was transported to a safe location as required by the Continuity of Government Act.

“Tonight, we gather with heavy and sorrowful hearts,” the President said, speaking about the tragic events of the day. “Our city has been attacked by unknown forces of evil determined to destroy the unity and peace of our nation no matter what the cost may be.”

As earlier reported, the City Square where the O‘ahu Provincial Government stands was attacked when bombs were detonated destroying six of the eight buildings including Honolulu Hale. Two bombs meant to destroy buildings 3 and 7 failed to detonate successfully. 700 people were killed in the attacks and an additional 450 people were injured. In the devastation, all of Oahu’s top provincial leaders with the exception of the Governor and Lt. Governor who were not in the City Square were killed. 80 of the killed were first responders including police officers, firefighters and EMS officers.

“On behalf of my family and the entire nation, I wish to extend my sincere condolences all those who have lost loved ones in this horrible tragedy,” continued the President. “It is the pledge of this government, that all those responsible for this murderous attack will be brought to justice and punished to the fullest extent of the law.”

Towards the end of his speech, the President said, “The intent of these terrorists was to destroy the unity of our people, to fill us with fear, and to make us cower to them. And, in that sense, they have failed. For tonight, our people are united. Our people are courageous. And our people remain strong. We will never, ever, whimper to these cowards. Do what you wish, you cowards, but Hawai‘i and its people will prevail.”

At 7:55 p.m., exactly twelve hours after the first explosion in Honolulu Hale, a moment of silence was conducted while the bells of Kawaiaha‘o Church were tolled continuously until 8:00 p.m. Following the address, an interfaith prayer and worship service was conducted to honor those who had lost their lives. The royal family did not attend the service due to security concerns.

Following his speech, President Makahanaloa announced that he would order a week of mourning, all flags will fly at half-staff, and a special national memorial service will be conducted at St. Andrew’s National Cathedral.

“Over the next few days, this administration will do everything it can to find those responsible for this crime and bring them to justice,” he said. “Terrorism must never be tolerated and we will avenge those who lost their lives to this despicable act.”

“As Governor, I am ordering all additional offices closed,” said O‘ahu Governor Kimberley Ramos who was given the all-clear to return to Hawai‘i. “There will be no access to the City Square until the police, the Department of Defense and all other governmental law enforcement agencies complete their investigation.”

In other related news, the Superintendent of Education has ordered all students to return to school tomorrow. It is noted that military and police will be present at schools throughout the nation.

en route to Honolulu
Dr. Nick Carraway (Captain)
Head of Galonican Investigatory Force (GIF) team to Hawaii

"Alright, troops, first things first. We land, I don't know yet if we'll be greeted or not. If we do, it'll probably be a staffer from the embassy. We'll have lunch with the Ambassador and then meet PM Makahanaloa and possibly the King -painful as it may be. We all chuckled at that last remark. Historically, Galonica has been an anti-monarchist state, along with Liluputia and Traillopia. Although one of my agents was an Imperial Party sympathizer, he was able to go along with it, having the most sense of humor of my team. "We'll then get our orders and start work ASAP, most likely tomorrow."
"Attention, we've just entered Hawaiian airspace."
Code: Select all
"Hawaii International Airport, this is GIF Foxhound. Requesting permission to land. Over."
"GIF Foxhound, this is Hawaii International. You have permission to land. Welcome to Hawaii. Over"
"Thank you. Over."

"15 minutes to land. Please put seatbelts on."
As the Boeing 707 landed, we felt the familiar shudder of wheel on concrete. We had arrived. When we stepped off the plane, already being unloaded, a 20-something year old wearing a Galonican pin on his lapel welcomed us. He was clearly a native Hawaiian.
"Aloha, sirs and madames. Welcome to the Kingdom of the Sovereign Hawaiian Islands. Ambassador Taber is awaiting your arrival at the embassy."

JANE MEADOWS: An important update today in the government’s ongoing investigation into the act of terrorism where 700 people were killed in the Honolulu City Square, including leading government officials. Keoni Tucker has more on the story.

KEONI TUCKER: It was a low-key welcome. Not the usual pomp and circumstance that occurs when foreign guests arrive in the islands. Hawaii’s closest international ally, the government of the Confederacy of Galonica, has sent a team of investigators to assist the government. They arrived at Honolulu International Airport and were greeted by Daniel Kaho‘ohanohano, the Senior Aide to Ambassador Taber of the Galonican Embassy. He spoke to the press today.

DANIEL KAHO‘OHANOHANO (In A Press Conference): Today, we were pleased to receive the Investigatory Force from the Confederacy of Galonica. Their purpose here is to assist the State Police Force, also known as “Five-O,” in its investigation of the terrorist attack on Honolulu. The Prime Minister will officially greet them this afternoon at Washington Place.

KEONI TUCKER: The team, consisting of men and women, is renowned as the premier investigatory team in the world. And, they came, in an act of friendship between two unlikely allies – the Kingdom of Hawai‘i and the Confederacy of Galonica, a well-known anti-monarchist state.

DR. NICK CARRAWAY: Yes, it’s true. Galonica tends to be anti-monarchist. But, what makes our two nations allies is our common belief in the sanctity of human life, and our commitment to protecting human life. Hawai‘i was in need for assistance, and we are glad to help in any way we can.

DANIEL KAHO‘OHANOHANO (In A Private Interview): The relationship between Galonica and Hawai‘i is strong. It’s just like if you saw a friend in need, or hurt, you would gladly jump in to help your friend. Five-O was at a deadlock in the investigation, and the GIF stepped in to assist them.

DR. NICK CARRAWAY: The main point is that someone, or a group of people, plotted to kill as many people as they could in order to make some kind of a statement. The government believes it may be an act of domestic terrorism committed by a radical Islamist group. In reality, we don’t know that. But, we are committed to working with the State Police to finding these terrorists and bringing them to justice as quickly as possible.

STEVE MCNEAL: We’re very fortunate to have the GIF working with us. Right now, we’re having difficulty trying to solve this case. But, I’m confident that together we’ll solve this case and bring these terrorists in to face the law.

KEONI TUCKER: The GIF are currently meeting with Five-O investigators. They will be given full access to information already acquired by Five-O. Together, they will be developing a plan on how to move forward. I’ve also been informed that Dr. Carraway, the lead investigator, had a long telephone conversation with the Prime Minister. They are scheduled to meet with him and the Cabinet tomorrow at Washington Place, followed by a brief meeting with His Majesty, King Kawananakoa IV. Keoni Tucker, reporting for Hawai‘i News Now. Jane, back to you.

JANE MEADOWS: Mahalo Keoni. Also, Prime Minister Makahanaloa released a statement to the media upon their arrival, stating:

PRIME MINISTER MAKAHANALOA (In A Statement): I am pleased to welcome the Galonican Investigatory Force to the Kingdom of Hawai‘i. I am truly appreciative to them and the government of Galonica for their assistance at this time. Together, we will solve this case and bring justice to the families and friends of those that were lost in that horrific attack on Honolulu Square. I look forward to working with them in the coming weeks.

JANE MEADOWS: We'll keep you updated on the story.

Honolulu, Hawaii
Galonican Embassy
Ambassador Friedrich Taber II, esq
Galonican Ambassador to Hawaii

"Sir, the GIF team is outside your office."
"Thanks, Danny. Send 'em in."
"Yes, sir."
A minute after he left, the ten members of teh GIF team walked in. I stood up and walked over to them.
"Welcome to Hawaii, Comrades. I trust your flight was well."
"Yes. I'm Captain Carraway, this is my team." I shook his hand and the hands of his team and motioned them to sit down.
"You guys are surely a welcome sight around here. Police have been up and down the Row asking questions. I don't think anyone really knows, though."
"What do you think about all this?"
"Honestly, I think it was done by some pissed of Hawaiians. It's worse because this was a reaction to the voting down of Sharia Law. Islam is supposed to be about love and tolerance, much like Christianity and Judaism. That's one of the big things the Abrahamic religions have in common, there are just some people who don't see it or don't want to see it and they happen to be pretty influential. Business aside, you guys can thank me for getting you here. I told the Chairman about the tragedy. We'll be having lunch here and dining with the Traillopian Ambassador and maybe some Hawaiian politicians tonight."
"Sounds good. What do you know about Makahanaloa?"
"He's a good guy for a Repub. Honest, competent, gets work done, friendly. Overall, someone you'd want to associate with. And being a teacher by proffesion makes him more favorable in the eyes of the Confederacy. Not something you see in most members of the Conservative Party."
That's good to know. What's it like around here?"
"Typically, it's a quaint version of Erae. Nothing closes, there's a strong night-life. Of course, what with the attack, the sidewalks roll up pretty early. My co-Ambassador went to Waikike Beach. He was sorely disappointed. He couldn't swim, he brought his family with him and they were going to build a sandcastle, but they hit the volcanic rock quick. They went around town and had a good time, though."
"Note to self: no Waikike."
"He said he still had a pretty good time. There was a beach community, you know where some people set up a tent and radio and grill and just spend the day there. Very friendly people around here. I have a spare office for you guys. I didn't know if you were working at the station or not."

Honolulu, Hawai'i
Galonican Embassy
Ambassador Zebulon Webster I
Traillopian Ambassador to Hawai'i

"Ambassador Taber, hello."
"Guten Tag, Herr Webster. How are things going over at the Embassy?"
"The talks are flooding my desk and the desks of my staff. Not a big deal, though. It looks like your father has taken a huge role in the talks."
"Yes. Do you expect anything else?"
"Course not. Tell him I said hello."
"Will do. Oh, uh, this is Captain Carraway of the GIF. He and his team are here to help the Hawaiian Police with their investigation."
I reached out to shake Carraway's hand and he immediatley spoke up.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Ambassador. I must say Chief Justice Zeltwanger is doing what he does best."
"Yes. He's calmed down a bit. I'm surprised he hasn't been telling war stories yet."
"I'm sure he'll start in a day or two."
"I hope. My brother-in-law called me yesterday. Said he was worried about the Chief Justice's health." All three of us had a good laugh at that.
"So, you and your team are supposed to meet the PM tommorow."
"Yes, we're supposed to lunch with him, his Cabinet, and the King."
"Have fun with that. So, what are we eating?"

Dr. Nick Carraway and his team arrived at Washington Place, promptly at 11:00 in the morning for a busy day of meeting with Hawaiian government officials, including Prime Minister Adam Makahanaloa and the Monarch himself, King Kawānanakoa III.

“Aloha Dr. Carraway and fellow investigators. I’m Angela,” said a beautiful young woman who greeted them at the entrance to the State House. “I’m the Lead Receptionist here at Washington Place. Welcome to Hawai‘i. It’s a pleasure to have you.” A smile beamed from cheek to cheek, as she led them towards the Central Gallery, where two other receptionists were busily answering phones.

“This is such a beautiful place,” said Dr. Carraway, taking note of the European and traditional Hawaiian artwork on display. He also noticed the huge picture of the Prime Minister displayed in front of the Receptionists’ desk, draped in the traditional Hawaiian maile lei – a garland made of a fragrant vine – intertwined with a lei of ‘ilima – a yellow Hawaiian flower famous on the island of O‘ahu.

“He’s very good looking,” said Lt. Phyllicia Ayers, one of the team investigators, with a smile.

“This is our Prime Minister, Dr. Adam Gregory Makahanaloa,” Angela explained with delight. “He is an educator by profession, and formerly served as the Vice President. Previous to that, he was the Governor of the Island of Hawai‘i.”

“Any military experience?” asked Sgt. Major James Gatz, another investigator, noticing the medals and pins in the picture.

“Yes, actually. He is a graduate of the Pōhakuloa Military Academy. He also served a tour of duty in Afghanistan, as a member of the Navy’s Special Forces. He left the Navy with the rank of Lieutenant Commander.” Angela seemed to know a lot, which should be expected from one of his staffers and representatives.

“Impressive,” replied Dr. Carraway.

“Is there anything else I can help you with?” Angela inquired.

“No, thank you,” said Dr. Carraway, who – noticing Angela’s wealth of knowledge – didn’t want to end up sitting through a Hawaiian history lesson, though he appreciated her kindness and willingness.

“The Prime Minister is in a meeting with the visiting U.S. Diplomatic Corps. He’ll be out in about five minutes,” she explained. “Following your greeting, the Prime Minister will escort you across the street to ‘Iōlani Palace to meet the King. After that, you will return here to the State House for lunch, and then a brief meeting with the Prime Minister and the Defense Cabinet. I hope you won’t be overwhelmed.” Her expression went from cheerful to concerned.

“No, we’ve been through worst,” replied Dr. Carraway. “Are you overwhelmed with having to remember all this information?” he continued, jokingly.

“No, I’ve been through worst myself,” Angela replied. “It comes with the job. Well, feel free to relax here. And, if you need anything else, just let me know.” Angela waited until they were comfortably seated before returning to her desk to join the rest in answering phones, which were ringing off the hook.

As soon as they began to relax, a handsome, young man in a tan suit, walked into the gallery. “Dr. Carraway, it’s a pleasure to meet you,” the gentleman said. “And all of you as well.” He shook their hands and greeted them with a simple, “Aloha.”

“Mr. Prime Minister, it’s a great honor,” answered Dr. Carraway.

“Please, sir, you may call me Adam,” said the Prime Minister. “I’ve been looking forward to our meeting since yesterday, when you arrived. I hope our investigators were warm and welcoming to all of you, considering the reason you’re here.”

“Yes, they were very welcoming,” replied Dr. Carraway. He immediately noticed the Prime Minister’s warm, humble and bright nature. The Prime Minister was completely different from what he had originally expected. He was nothing like the other dignitaries he’d met throughout his career as an investigator.

“Did Angela fill you in on our plans for today?” the Prime Minister asked.

“Yes, she was very informative,” replied TJ Buchanan.

“Good, we should be on our way,” said the Prime Minister. “I believe His Majesty is awaiting our arrival at the Palace. It should be no longer than five minutes. Then, we’ll be back here for lunch. Shall we go?”

“Sounds like a plan,” said Lt. Ayers, somewhat mesmerized at the Prime Minister’s good looks. “Tell me, will the First Lady be joining us?”

“No, she’s currently touring the neighbor islands,” the PM replied. “So, it’ll just be us for today.”

“Cool your jets, Lieutenant,” Dr. Carraway whispered jokingly into her ears. “He’s married.”

As they exited the State House, the Prime Minister and the team hit up a great conversation. The contingency, consisting of the Prime Minister, Dr. Carraway and his team of fourteen investigators, and five Royal Guardsmen walked through the front corridor, and crossed the street onto the grounds of ʻIōlani Palace. All the while, photographers were quickly snapping pictures and reporters were asking for interviews.

Avoiding the media, they walked the central pathway and went up the front stairway. Quickly, a middle-aged woman, in a black dress, came to greet them. “Your Excellency, ladies and gentleman, aloha. Welcome to ʻIōlani Palace,” the woman said. “I’m Malia, an executive assistant to His Majesty the King. He’s waiting for you in the Victoria Room. Please follow me.”

They walked down the Grand Hall, and entered into the Throne Room. Immediately, seeing the group of visitors, the King stood up and walked towards them. He was in simple clothes; a black polo and white pants. There was no crown. No royal robes. Not even a suit and tie.

“Adam, it’s good to see you again,” he said extending a handshake to the Prime Minister.

“Sir,” the PM replied, bowing deeply.

“You must be Dr. Carraway,” the King said, focusing his attention on the contingency of foreign guests from the somewhat anti-monarchist Galonica. “Aloha, it’s a great honor and pleasure to welcome you to the islands.” The King extended a handshake to him as well.

“Your Majesty, the honor is all mine,” he replied, also bowing in the same fashion as the Prime Minister. “Please allow me to introduce you to the members of my team.” He introduced each one, who shook hands with the King, offering a bow of their own to the King.

“I apologize for being unable to join you for lunch,” said the King. “I will be traveling to Japan today, and I must get ready to leave. But, before I do, I wanted to meet you all, and thank you for what you’re doing for Hawai‘i. It’s important for me to express my sincere gratitude to you and your nation for all of your help in this difficult time for our country.”

“Thank you for your kind words, sir,” replied Dr. Carraway. “I want to convey our best wishes to you on behalf of the government and people of Galonica.”

“Thank you,” the King replied with great appreciation. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I must leave. Please escort me outside of the Palace.” Hearing the invitation, the group followed the King through the hall and down the front stairs, where a motorcade awaited him. “Adam, Dr. Carraway, may I speak to you privately?” Both men joined the King away from the others.

“Your Majesty?” Adam asked earnestly.

“Both of you know the seriousness of this case,” he began. “If the people responsible are the ones you say they are, then they are Hawaiian citizens. Please handle this matter with the utmost care. If you aren’t, we may have a bigger problem to deal with later.”

“What do you mean, sir?” Dr. Carraway inquired.

“Let me put it plainly gentlemen,” said the King, with a stern look on his face. “Don’t go Bush. Hiki nō? Can you do it?”

“Ae. He maopopo ia‘u,” replied the Prime Minister in his native tongue.

“Yes, I understand,” said Dr. Carraway, who remembers the controversy surrounding the treatment of Muslim Americans by the Bush Administration following the September 11, 2001, attacks on the United States. “Rest assured sir, that nothing of the kind will occur under our watch.”

“Good, I trust you. I trust the both of you.” With that final assurance, the King waved a final goodbye and got into a shiny black Escalade. Soon, he was off.

As they walked back to Washington Place, there was noisy discussion between the investigators. But, Dr. Carraway and the Prime Minister both remained steadfast in their silence. They thought long and hard about what the King had told them – neither wanting to reveal the conversation to the others. To a regular bystander, the term “Don’t go Bush” might seem to be a simple sarcastic comment. But, it stuck with the two men, especially when the King added, “If you aren’t, we may have a bigger problem to deal with.”

When they reached Washington Place, they were greeted by another one of the Prime Minister’s staffers, Kainoa – a handsome young Hawaiian man, with wavy black hair, and a light tan complexion. In his hand, he held a schedule book, or planner, and he was just ordering dining room staffers into action through a mic and earpiece.

“Your Excellency,” he said, giving a slight bow of his head, recognizing the high status of the Prime Minister in the nation. “Dr. Carraway, your excellencies, my name is Kainoa. I am the Resident Manager for Washington Place. My job is to ensure that Washington Place runs as smoothly as possible,” he said.

“And, he does an excellent job,” replied the Prime Minister.

“Thank you sir,” Kainoa answered with pride. His face lit up with a bright smile. “Now, if you’ll please follow me into the State Dining Room, we have prepared a wonderful luncheon for all of you. I hope you’ll enjoy it, as our staff has been working diligently to prepare this for you.” Kainoa was sure to recognize the hard work of his staff. “Now, please be seated and enjoy.”

Laid out on the table was a feast, consisting of steamed fish, kalua pork – which is roasted in an underground oven called an imu – and roasted duck. There was steamed taro (kalo), sweet potato (‘uala) and breadfruit (‘ulu), , poi (a delicacy made of mashed taro), and an abundance of fruits and vegetables from the residential garden. There they all sat passing the food around as if they were having a Thanksgiving meal with family and friends. And, in reality, they were exactly that – family.

The Prime Minister was overjoyed at having “normal” people over to Washington Place. In other words, he was glad to have people who weren’t fake. He enjoyed being himself and not having to “put on heirs” to impress them. After a hefty meal, and a multitude of desserts, it was time to get to work.

“It’s 1:00. We better get to the Situation Room,” said the Prime Minister. “I’m sure that the Defense Cabinet is waiting for us.” With that, they followed the Prime Minister out of the dining room making sure to thank and commend Kainoa as they left. The walked through a narrow corridor, when the Prime Minister turned to face a white wall with a picture of the King on it. He lifted the frame up, exposing a keypad. After entering a password, a section of the wall lifted up exposing a room of complex intelligence, security and communications technology. A staff of thirty people were hard at work.

As the Prime Minister entered the Central Room, a group of fifteen men and women in military uniforms stood and saluted, saying, “Your Excellency.”

“Ladies, gentleman, allow me to introduce you to Dr. Nick Carraway, lead investigator for the Galonican Investigatory Force,” he said. “And, this is his team,” he continued, introducing them one by one. “Team, this is my Defense Cabinet.”

Everyone was seated. Just then, Lt. Commander Steve McNamara, entered the room. “Sorry I’m late, sir.” He shook the Prime Minister’s hand and gave a slight bow of his head. “Dr. Carraway, fellow investigators, it’s wonderful to see you again.”

“Please fill us in Steve,” the Prime Minister commanded.

“Well, sir, after having met with the Galonican Investigatory Force yesterday, they confirmed our original suspicion that it was a radical Islamist group,” Steve explained. “However, we don’t know which one it is yet – and no one has yet laid claim to the bombing.”

“Yes,” Dr. Carraway interjected. “But, what we do know, is that the bombs used by the terrorists is similar in design to those used by Iran in its war against Iraq in the 1980s, which is a big clue.”

“Exactly,” agreed Steve. “And, three days before the attack, a shipping liner, the Al-Iraniya came into Honolulu Harbor for a scheduled shipping drop-off.”

“Now, this is where we are at a deadlock,” interjected Admiral Lee Hughes, a naval commander. “We can’t prove that the Iranian liner was carrying anything else into Hawai‘i, because all 300 containers were inspected, and nothing else came off the ship.”

“Nor, did any of the crew members come off the ship,” said Steve.

“So, what does this mean?” asked the Prime Minister, who was now clearly frustrated.

“I honestly don’t know,” said Dr. Carraway. “But, I’m sure we’ll figure it out.”

“Until that time, your administration will need to secure the airports, harbors and any point of access into the islands,” said Lt. Mikhail Ulanov, whom they called “Misha.” “And, we’ll need unlimited access to all of your military and intelligence defense networks.”

“I object!” said Gen. William Hanratty. “I understand that these guests of ours are here to assist us, but let them do exactly that – assist! We cannot allow access to our defense network.”

“Steve, do you concur with Lt. Ulanov or Gen. Hanratty?” asked the Prime Minister, clearly annoyed by the rudeness of one his commanders.

“Sir, I believe we can trust the GIF,” he responded. “If they require full access, then I suggest you give them full clearance to go ahead.”

“Then it is so,” said the Prime Minister. “My staff will prepare the necessary documents. I’m giving full and uninterrupted access –”

“But, sir!”

“I said it is so!” the Prime Minister said firmly.

“Sir, I must firmly disagree with you decis–”

“General Hanratty! I don’t like to do this, but remember your place in this structure,” the Prime Minister interrupted. “I am the Commander in Chief! This is my decision! Do you understand?”

“Sir, yes, sir,” replied the General.

The Prime Minister was clearly upset. But, turning to the team of investigators and his Defense Cabinet, said, “Ladies and gentlemen? Let’s get to work.”

Honolulu, Hawai'i
Capitol Building (Lobby)
Captain Dr. Nick Carraway
Head of 4th GIF

After Angela left us to relax, Misha walked over to me. "What do you think of the place?"
"Originally, I was completely unimpressed. It's modern. Looks not much different from an office building, but upon coming in here, I'm very impressed. A fitting building to a great ally. I saw you eyeing Angela."
"You think I can talk to her?"
"Why not? You're young, an officer, and in you're both about the same age."
Just then, a thirty-something man who later turned out to be none other than the Prime Minister himself greeted us.

Capitol Building (Dining Hall)
After meeting the king of Hawai'i - not at all the pompous demi-god one would expect, actually a rather honorable man - we returned to the Capitol Building. We had a rich lunch of various Hawai'ian delicacies. Needless to say, we all filled ourselves up on the food.
"Adam, before I forget, Chairman Arouj wants you to go to Galonica. He wants to show the world that the Confederacy and the United Kingdom are truly allies."
"I'll be sure to plan a trip ASAP."

Capitol Building (Situation Room)
"Commander McNamara, is there any way you can intercept the Al-Iraniya? If there is, I suggest we do it. Also, keep any cargo planes grounded and any cargo ships in the ports. There is clearly reason to thoroughly search all planes and ships." said Misha. "We'll also need access to your defense networks."
At this point, a General Hanratty spoke up in clear outrage. After a brief argument between him and the PM, he stepped down. We would get control of the Hawai'ian networks, although I'll make sure we don't overuse it. "Don't worry, General, we won't overstay our welcome. Also, the LFF have applauded the terrorists. We've been after them since '81. We've got a couple teams in the Postle Mountains, were we suspect they're operating. Don't worry, we expect to stay for the duration of the investigation. You all have our full aid."

The Story Continues...

Postby The Sovereign Hawaiian Islands » Wed Feb 29, 2012 2:20 pm

“I am clearly appalled by the comments made by General Herman Lee,” said the Prime Minister in an interview, referring to comments made by the Leader of the Lilliputian Freedom Fighters in Galonica, who supports the actions of the terrorist extremists. “You’d think that someone who supposedly fights for freedom would consider how the freedom of those innocent citizens were stolen because of those heartless animals he is applauding.”

“How could someone say something like that?” questioned Angela, who was standing in the Pa‘oakalani Garden, where the Prime Minister was answering questions. “It seems so heartless.”

“Well, you know, General Lee is a heartless man,” said Misha Ulanov, clearly attracted to Angela. “The GIF has been after him since the 1980’s. And, now, he seems to be getting stronger.”

“How do you guys deal with him?” she asked concernedly.

“Well, it isn’t easy, but we do our best,” Misha responded in a tone of voice that Angela knew was meant to try to impress her. “It’s a dangerous job, but someone’s got to do it.” They both giggled softly in the background.

“I can’t believe I just said that,” Misha thought. “How cheesy!”

“What is the plan of Five-O and the GIF?” asked one of the reporters in the crowd.

“Well, right now, we’re looking for any connection between our suspected domestic terrorists and any international entities or groups,” the Prime Minister responded, not wanting to reveal the link to Iran. “There are some we are looking at, but only looking.”

“Well, I have a very close source who says Iran is currently at the top of your list,” said Jim Garrison, a reporter for the Honolulu Star-Advertiser who was known for his scheming and mischievous ways to get information.

“I want to assure you all that we are looking at every possibility,” said the Prime Minister. “And, Iran is not one of the current options on the list,” he continued, not wanting to reveal the contents of yesterday’s discussions. “I’m sorry, I have a meeting to attend, please excuse me.” The Prime Minister, tapping Angela’s shoulder, led the way back into the State House.

As they walked down the main corridor, Jim Garrison called out, “Mr Prime Minister, why won’t you admit the truth about Iran?”

Quickly, the Prime Minister turned to face him. “Jimmy, I gave you an honest answer out there. You’ll just have to take it.”

“But my sources–”

“Now, tell me who these sources are Jimmy,” said the Prime Minister in a calm voice, smiling as if he were about to laugh, not taking the reporter seriously.

“With all due respect sir,” Jimmy replied. “...I can’t reveal that kind of classified information.”

“Well, then,” the Prime Minister said with a momentary pause. “...neither can I. Aloha Jimmy.” The Prime Minister turned away and began walking back to his office. Garrison, disappointed at the result of the conversation, also turned around and walked back into the garden to talk with other reporters there.

“So, I see you and the Lieutenant are hitting it off,” said the Prime Minister to a stunned Angela who hadn’t realized it was so obvious. “I think you guys are good for each other.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Angela responded, trying to avoid showing any signs of adoration for her new young friend.

“My fear is that you’ll get married and I’ll lose the best part of my team,” he said.

“Like I said, I don’t know what you’re talking about.” They both laughed as they went back to their work – the Prime Minister reading bills and letters, while Angela scheduled meetings for the week.

Back at the State Police Headquarters, Commander Steve McNamara, head of the agency known as “Five-O” and Dr. Nick Carraway, lead investigator for the GIF, were hard at work devising a plan to find the terrorists and bring them to justice.

“Nick, I believe there is a way to intercept the Al-Iraniya,” said Commander Steve McNamara, who kept in mind the advice of Misha Ulanov, one of Carraway’s investigators. “Currently, we have two navy destroyers 15 nautical miles from their current position in the Pacific. They just completed a drop-off in the Philippines, and they’re on their way home.”

“What would we need to do to stop them?” the lead investigator asked. “Do you need an order of some kind from the Prime Minister?”

“Yes, and I’m sure he’ll grant us that.”

“Let’s go ahead then.”

Steve picked up the phone on his desk, and in a hurry, called the Prime Minister’s office. “Sir, it’s Steve. We are in a position to intercept the Al-Iraniya, but we need your confirmation.” As Steve spoke, Dr. Carraway focused on Steve’s face watching for any indication of the Prime Minister’s approval. “Thank you sir. I understand.” Steve hung up the phone and looked to Dr. Carraway.

“So? What did he say?” questioned Lt. Phyllicia Ayers.

“Well, he’s giving us the confirmation,” said the Five-O Commander. “But, he wants us to be extremely careful with how this is carried out. We don’t want Iran to get into a tiff with us.”

“And? I’m suspecting something else,” Misha asked.

“But, he also said that if they don’t stop,” Steve paused momentarily, “we have the authority to take control of the ship and do whatever we need to do to bring it back to Hawai‘i.”

“Even if we have to kill the crew?” asked Ayers.

“Yes. That’s my understanding,” said Steve hesitantly.

“Are we sure that’s what we want to do?” asked Ayers.

“Well, let’s just hope they cooperate with us,” responded Dr. Carraway.

They're a shadow of their former self since Brandt took over. Terrorists are usually located in the hills. I'd start searching there, especially in the less-populated areas."

Off for Galonica

Postby The Sovereign Hawaiian Islands » Mon Mar 05, 2012 7:41 pm

“Sir, are you ready?” asked Angela, who peeked in through the Prime Minister’s bedroom door.

“Yes, I am,” he responded. “How about you honey?” he said turning to his wife, the First Lady, who two days ago had returned from a tour around the Hawaiian Islands.

“I’m ready to go,” she said with a bright smile.

Following Angela, the Prime Minister and his wife, Victoria, walked through the Central Corridor, and out to the circular driveway where a motorcade awaited them. As they walked out the front entrance of the State House, four Royal Guardsmen escorted them into a black Nissan Armada which would take them to the airport.

“Angela, I’m counting on you to hold down the fort while we’re away in Galonica,” said the Prime Minister.

“Of course sir, you can count on me,” she replied. “I’ll be meeting with the Chief of Staff, and the Deputy Prime Minister will update me on the happenings. I’ve been through this many times sir.”

“Oh, and one more thing,” he said, “No boys in the House!” All three giggled at the small wisecrack, a clear reference to her new relationship with Lt. Misha Collins.

“Yes father,” she replied jokingly. With that the door was shut, the Royal Guard commander giving a final signal, and they were off to the airport for a special meeting with Chairman Vo Ludwig Arouj, esteemed leader of the Republic of Galonica.

At Hickam Air Force Base, the Prime Minister’s motorcade rode through, passing through security gates with ease. As they drove in, the sight of Kalamaku, the Prime Minister’s CC-150 Polaris, excited the couple. They loved flying on Kalamaku and spending time with the wonderful staff and crew who made long trips so enjoyable.

“Sir, we’ve arrived,” said David Herod, the Commander of the Royal Guard, turning to the Prime Minister.

“Thanks Dave,” the Prime Minister replied. Soon, the SUV pulled to a stop. After awaiting final preparations, the door swung open, and the Prime Minister and First Lady got out and walked up the long stairs.

A barrage of reporters and other citizens were present. Turning around at the top of the stairs, the Prime Minister and First Lady waved goodbye, then went aboard, where the last images of the couple were of them shaking hands with the pilot, Capt. Dean Kanoe. Soon, the plane was speeding on the runway, and made its ascent to the skies. The mighty Kalamaku, which is Hawaiian for “the standing torch”, was off for Hawaii’s closest international ally, Galonica.

Honolulu
The bustling masses of people in the mall betrayed the insecurities that had filtered through the islands since the attacks. No longer were children allowed to run off, nor did groups of friends lose sight of one another for very long. The people had heeded their government's urge to continue on as normal, to refuse to show the terrorists that their strike had made an impact. But it had. And it was only the first of many.

Tai Shen-li nervously made her way through the crowds, one hand nervously holding to her shoulder and the other lodged in her pocket, grasping the object contained within as if her grip was the only thing keeping her alive. Walking along the edges with her head down, mumbling apologies to everyone she bumped into, no one paid her much attention. She was not clothed like a Muslim, no headscarf or burqa; she looked like another tourist or new citizen, simply trying to figure out how to fit into the lifestyle of the islands.

Tai wasn't here to fit in. In fact, she wasn't intending on being around for much longer. Concealed by her loose clothes was a vest, covered in smuggled explosives and shrapnel. The small cylinder she held in her pocket was the detonator. A human bomb, set loose among an unsuspecting populace.

As she walked, Tai thought back on her life, how she'd ended up in a foreign land with a bomb strapped to her chest. How the Westerners who'd invaded her homeland had murdered her brother, defiled her for fun. This was fitting revenge. The West struck at women and children with every cent it sent to corrupt regimes, with every soldier that defiled holy places, defiled women, killed sons and daughters. She only wished she had not had to sacrifice herself. But Hamad had been very clever in his plans; they would not suspect a woman, especially not one who dressed in their styles. But as necessary as she tried to convince herself it was, she did not want to die.

Which was why there was a tear running down her cheek as she approached the food court, packed with shoppers eating lunch. She saw the food through the tears; she'd never eaten as much in a day as these people were consuming in a single meal. The injustice burned away another small bit of hesitation.

"Can I help you, miss?" It was a man in a uniform, a police officer? She took a deep breath; now was the time.

"Miss?"

"Allahu akbar." It was a whisper, a mumble that the man in front of her could only barely hear.

"What was that, miss?"

She jerked her head up, tears flowing freely, hand emerging from her pocket with the detonator primed, and half-screamed, half-cried at the top of her lungs, "ALLAHU AKBAR!"

The detonator went click. A bright light consumed her vision.

Message Released to Hawaiian Media Networks
"The Holy Islamic Warriors of the Jihad have twice now struck the people of Hawaii. Your support for a government which denies the rights of our fellow Muslims, your support for a government that has been complicit in crimes against Muslims the world over, your support for a government that does nothing to alleviate the suffering that its policies and alliances have caused the Muslim world, and your hedonistic exploitation of the Third World for unnecessary material gain have made you, the people of Hawaii, legitimate targets in our struggle.

Our attacks will continue until your ways change. Allahu akbar!"

Al-Iranyia
International Waters, Pacific Ocean

Ahmed Kanwar strolled along the deck of the Al-Iranyia, one hand holding a cigarette and the other resting comfortingly on the butt of the AK-47 hanging at his side by a sling. The seas were clear, the skies just clear enough to give excellent vision without letting too much sunlight through. He could practically see Hawaii from here.

The ship was a decoy--a clever little false trail laid by his commander to throw the Westerners off. The bombs had come in on smaller ships, smuggled in pieces and reassembled in safehouses. The same process had acquired the suicide vest for Tai, and more like it. Meanwhile, Ahmed and the eleven other mujaheddin on the Al-Iranyia had a nice, easy cruise to break the monotony of hiding in caves, jungles or villages from Western helicopters and drones. It was a nice respite and he was making the most of it.

The only fear was that the West would try and seize the boat. There was a strong likelihood that Ahmed would be forced to lay down his life on this boat, to die for a lie. But a death on the battlefield was a warrior's death nonetheless. Surely, his commander had explained, a death while luring the enemy army into a trap which destroys them is just as noble as a death while in the act of destruction, if not more so?

So Ahmed and the others waited for the Westerners to appear, weapons ready. There was an old Soviet DShK mounted above the bridge to give helicopters pause, and a handful of RPGs onboard in addition to their personal weapons. If the Hawaiians did attack, they'd pay a price for this ship.

Arriving in Galonica/Second Attack

Postby The Sovereign Hawaiian Islands » Tue Mar 06, 2012 4:08 pm

“Sir, we’ll be arriving in Galonica in fifteen minutes,” said Jeanne Kahaleoumi, a flight attendant.

“Mahalo Jeanne,” he replied. “Would you alert Victoria please?” The Prime Minister sat in a large office chair in his office on board. He finished up the last bit of paperwork, and quickly returned to the seating area and buckled up for landing. Soon, the First Lady joined him.

“Wow, it’s a beautiful country,” said the First Lady, as the first images of the East Pacific nation of Galonica appeared in the window.

Within the next ten minutes Kalamaku was on the runway, slowing down as it approached an area with a red carpet, and a massive welcoming party.

“Sir, we’re here,” Jeanne announced.

“Thank you.” The Prime Minister and the First Lady unbuckled quickly and stood up. They headed towards the door, thanked the crew, and stepped out onto the top of the stairway. They waved at the crowds of citizens who were awaiting their arrival. Immediately, the military band began playing the national anthem of Hawai‘i, and military officers signified their respect with a salute.

At the front of the large entourage was Dr. Robert Kuleo, the Hawaiian ambassador to the Confederacy of Galonica. As soon as the Prime Minister reached the bottom of the stairs, the ambassador reached out his hand, and giving a bow of the head, said, “Adam, Victoria, aloha and welcome to Galonica.”

“Aloha Bobby,” the Prime Minister responded admiring the pomp and circumstance, as well as the massive amount of preparation that must have gone into this warm welcome. After exchanging a few words of greeting with other leaders and embassy staff present, the Prime Minister and the First Lady walked alongside the ambassador as they inspected the military. Both the Prime Minister and the First Lady, who both served in the military, offered a salute out of respect.

Upon reaching the end of the line, the ambassador directed the Prime Minister and First Lady to a black Cadillac limousine, surrounded by an entourage of diplomatic vehicles to take them to the Embassy House, where they would carry out much of their diplomatic mission, and also where they would be staying. Before getting in, the Prime Minister smiled and waved to the many people who had been awaiting their arrival. Soon, they were off.

Within fifteen minutes, they arrived at the Embassy House, constructed only a year prior – similar in style to Washington Place in Honolulu. Outside, a blonde-haired woman in black women’s skirt suit waited patiently. As soon as the door opened, the First Lady walked up to her excitedly, gave her a big hug and said, “Hey sis!” It was her sister, Lauren, the ambassador’s wife.

“And how are you Adam?” Lauren said giving him a warm hug as well.

“I’m good Lenny,” he responded, referring to her by her nickname. “Oh, pardon me, Your Excellency Mrs. Kuleo.” He joked and she responded with a laugh.

Both couples walked inside the building, and the Prime Minister and First Lady were introduced to the remaining staff present. Quickly, they were escorted to the Lili‘uokalani Gardens where many native plants thrived. They sat in the Grand Pavilion where a light lunch was being served.

“So tell me,” the ambassador began. ‘What’s the current situation with the investigation?”

“Well, right now, we’re a bit uncertain,” the Prime Minister responded disappointingly. “We are clear that it was an act of domestic terrorism, but, we can only assume that the purpose was in response to our recent ban on Sharia law.”

“Do you have any leads?” questioned Lauren, the ambassador’s wife.

“Well, so far, we’re not yet sure as to who is responsible domestically,” the Prime Minister responded. “But, we do believe, and evidence does suggest, that Iran is somehow involved.”

“You mean government wise?” asked the First Lady, who wasn’t yet updated on the situation.

“Well, honey, we don’t know,” he responded. “It might be just a terrorist network sponsoring the attack, and giving aid to those in Hawai‘i.”

“What evidence did you get?” inquired the ambassador.

“Well, there was a shipment delivered on the islands, several days prior to the attack,” the Prime Minister explained. “It came on a ship called the Al-Iraniya, the only ship from the Middle East. And, the bombs used in the attack, were similar to those Iranians used against Iraqis in the 1980s. Putting the pieces together, we can see the link.”

“Have you tried to intercept the ship?”

“Well, about an hour before we left, I gave the order to have our ships intercept the Al-Iraniya near Indonesia,” responded the Prime Minister. “Of course, we also know that Indonesia is heavily influenced by Islam, and we may face some resistance. But, we’ll have to try it.” The Prime Minister was now worried that he had given too much information to people who were not supposed to hear it. However, he brushed off the concern as one of the embassy staff rushed out to see him.

“Sir, there’s an important telephone call from Hawai‘i. It’s your senior receptionist, Angela.”

“Of course,” he said, in agreement. “I’ll be right back,” he assured his wife and in laws. As he walked into the embassy and approached the ambassador’s desk to take the call, he noticed a group of staffers watching an emergency news report, some even crying. As he got closer, he soon realized that what he was watching was the result of a second attack in Hawai‘i. He nearly dropped to the floor. He was so shocked he couldn’t move.

“Sir, Angela needs to speak with you,” the staffer reminded once more.

Quickly he jumped to the phone. “Hello?! Angela?! What’s happening?!” he asked in horror; his eyes still fixated on the TV screen.

“Sir,” Angela said. “It happened again. This time Ala Moana Shopping Center. The explosion was so large that two thirds of the building are gone. Other buildings around have caught fire.” Angela stopped, trying to catch her breath. She was horrified, barely able to talk. “Sir, it was a young woman.”

“Young woman? What do you mean?”

“Sir, it was a suicide attack,” she could hardly get the words out of her mouth. “We’ve been evacuated to the bunker, and the GIF and Five-O are already on the scene.”

“Okay, Angela, I need you to calm down,” he said. “We’ll be heading back as soon as possible.”

“Sir, you can’t, it’s too dangerous,” she said. “You’ll have to stay in Galonica and continue with your diplomatic mission. We’ll get back to you when Mr. Lopez gives the all-clear signal.”

“Okay, Angela. Keep me informed. I’m counting on you.”

“Yes, sir,” she assured. “I’ll do my best. We’ll keep you updated. I’ll speak to you in an hour. Good bye.”

“Thank you, goodbye.” The Prime Minister hung up and could no longer hold in his tears. He sat in the ambassador’s chair with his head resting on the desk. By this time, the First Lady and their hosts were inside the Embassy House watching with horror. Quickly, the First Lady rushed to comfort her husband who was clearly upset.

“Honey, it’ll be alright,” she said, rubbing his shoulders and kissing him gently on his head. She tried to comfort him, but knew that perhaps it wasn’t going to be alright. Hawai‘i was their home, and in this time, when they wanted so badly to return, they were unable to.

“Ambassador, it’s the Chairman,” said another staffer. “He wants to speak with you immediately.”

The ambassador grabbed the phone quickly. “Your Excellency?” He spoke for about a minute. Then, handing the phone to the Prime Minister, said, “Adam, it’s for you.”

The Prime Minister still upset, turned his attention away from the TV, grabbed the phone. “Sir, thank you for calling,” he responded trying to sound as dignified as possible.

“Prime Minister,” the Chairman said. “Please accept my sincere condolences on behalf of the people of our beloved nation,” he said. “I hope we’ll still be able to meet tomorrow.”

“Of course, sir, it would be an honor. Thank you for your kind words.”

“Well, please rest assured that the whole nation of Galonica supports you, and we will do whatever we can to assist you during these extremely difficult times.”

“Yes, sir. Thank you, sir.” With that the phone call ended. The Prime Minister now needed to make a statement, and then call Steve Macnamara and Dr. Nick Carraway to get updated on the situation with the Al-Iraniya. It seemed that the nation’s challenges were just beginning.

Delfino, Galonica
Hawai'ian Embassy
Charlie Young
Senior Aide to the Chairman

It was a mere thirty minute ride from the Executive Mansion to Embassy Row. Another five minutes got me to the Hawai'ian Embassy. As I walked up, I saw an aide lower the flag to half-mast. I introduced myself to him and he escorted me to where the Prime Minister was. He was in a sad state.
"Mr. Prime Minister." I spoke in German through an aide. "My name is Charlie Young, senior aide to Chairman Arouj."
"Hello, Charlie."
"The Chairman wishes to apologize for his not being at the airport. You weren't expected until Friday, and he was working on the State of Galonica speech. He has invited you and your wife to attend."
"Of course."
"If I may ask, what's going ono?"
"They got us again. A few minutes ago."
"Damn. I'm sorry to hear that, sir."

Honolulu, Hawai'i
Ala Moana Shopping Center
Captain Dr. Nick Carraway
4th GIF

"Good God." I said, examining what was left of the mall. Fire fighters were already on the scene, putting out fires in surrounding buildings. "What do you think it was?"
"It was a suicide bomber." said Sergeant Alberto Lopez of 5-O.
"More than one. It had to be." said another 5-O officer.
"Captain, we have a survivor." interrupted Misha.
"Bring him over." The survivor was brought to me. He was a young man, Arab, in his mid-twenties. When he saw the Galonican flag on my lapel, he immediately burst into tears and began speaking in Postlethwaiti.
"Calm down, calm down. What's your name?"
"Khalid Soliman. I'm 24 years old, studying abroad."
"Where you from?"
"Taif, Red Moon."
"You're Galonican?"
"Yes."
"Where were you when it happened?"
"The Nordstrom that was over there." he pointed to an empty space about 60 feet from where we were.
"What happened?"
"Me and some of my friends were walking out of the Nordstrom about to get lunch, when I hear some girl scream out "Allahu Akbar!" Then there was a huge light and that was it."
"So the attacker was Muslim?"
"My ass. If these terrorists say they're Muslims, then they clearly need to re-read the Quran. Islam doesn't call for something like this. Not this hate."
"It'll be alright. We'll take you to HQ for more questioning. I'll see if I can get you back to Galonica."
"Thank you, sir. How do you think Chairman Arouj'll react?"
"He'll be pretty pissed, I'm sure. Let's wait till we hear what his cousin thinks."

The Prime Minister waited outside of the Embassy’s press room, while the ambassador spoke to a large crowd of reporters from Galonica. All of them speaking in different languages, and broadcasting to networks all across the world. He couldn’t believe he had to do this again – give a statement on a terrorist attack in Hawai‘i. And, this time, he couldn’t be there to support his people.

“Ladies and gentlemen, members of the press,” began the ambassador. “I wish to introduce His Excellency Adam Gregory Makahanaloa, the Prime Minister of Hawai‘i.” Everyone in the room quickly stood out of respect, recognizing the high position of the Prime Minister.

“Thank you, please be seated.” The Prime Minister was still clearly upset, but his expression quickly changed to reveal a sense of confidence. “Today, families in Hawai‘i and throughout the free world are mourning. Families will soon sit at the dinner table looking at the empty chair, the missing link, the member of the unit that will not be coming home.” The press was completely silent, everyone focused on the Prime Minister.

“Our nation has been attacked once again by those who claim to adhere to a religion which name means ‘peace.’ Clearly, this group, who call themselves the ‘Holy Islamic Warriors of the Jihad,’ adhere to nothing more than their selfish desire for attention by retaliating against our government.” He paused and then continued. “Again, they have proven their desire to break our nation apart, to divide us, to conquer over us by filling us with fear. And, as before, they have failed.”

The cameras were rolling, and those in the room seemed to be filled with the same spirit as the Prime Minister. “At home, thousands have gathered to support and pray for our family members, friends, colleagues, who were lost in this horrid act of cowardice and for their families. Today, our nation remains united. And, together with our many allies including the nation of Galonica, we are stronger than ever.”

With that, the press could not resist their desire to applaud. “The people of Hawai‘i, and the citizens of our international partners – Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Muslim, regardless of religion – have refreshed our determination and resolve to fight terrorism at home and abroad, by bringing those responsible for this act to justice. And, if they are watching, let them be reminded that we’re coming after them. We will find you, and you will face the law! May God bless the Kingdom of Hawai‘i, and the Confederacy of Galonica. Thank you.”

Those in the room stood up and applauded, filled with the same resolve to help a hurting ally, no matter what the cost. They were so moved by the Prime Minister’s speech that they forget they were journalists there to report on the speech.

The Prime Minister walked towards the door where his wife greeted him with a kiss. “Vicky, how was that?” he asked her.

“It was great honey,” she responded with a big smile.

The Prime Minister, began shaking hands with those in the room, all who were wishing him well. At home, millions of Hawaiians were watching. Tonight, he had proven to them one thing – they made the right choice when they voted for him two years ago. Filled with pride, they too were feeling the same resolve and determination well up inside them. The terrorists really did not understand what they were dealing with.

In the sea, the HNS Kaleihulu, a destroyer whose name means “feather lei”, was leading a deluge of Hawaiian naval ships towards the Al-Iraniya, an Iranian shipping liner. The mission: Intercept her and search the ship. Captain Weston Kanilehua knew that there was no option for failure. If the liner’s crew even attempted to resist with force, they would be forced to blow her out of the water.

“Captain,” said Commander William Malino, “We’re approaching the target. And she’s coming in fast. What should I do, sir?” The crew in the control room looked to their captain for a decision.

“Let’s first try to make contact,” he said. “If the ship refuses to stop, then we’ll need to form a blockade with the other ships.”

“And?” another crew member asked.

“And what?”

“What if they don’t stop then?” the same member inquired.

“Then we make them stop,” he paused. “Or, we’ll be forced to blow them out of the water.” The crew moved quickly into action, trying to make communication with the liner. And, those on the outside of the control room were ordered to prepare to fire on the ship should it become necessary.

“Al-Iraniya, come in,” spoke one. “This is the HNS Kaleihulu, come in please.” For five minutes, these message were met with silence. The captain was ready to give the signal to prepare to stop the ship by force, even if it meant sinking her right in the Pacific Ocean.

“This is the Al-Iraniya,” said a voice. The crew had finally made contact. The captain immediately ran to the communication desk and attempted to speak to the individual whose voice carried through the control room.

“This is the HNS Kaleihulu,” he began. “We have orders by the Hawaiian government to come aboard and search your ship. Please cooperate with us and bring your ship to a stop.” As soon as he said this, the Al-Iraniya appeared on the horizon. “We have made visual contact with you, please stop your ship.” For three minutes, the ship continued to approach the Al-Iraniya. It looked as if she wasn’t going to stop.

“Send up the flags! Signal the other ships to execute battle alignment.” The captain was firm in his order to prepare ships for “battle alignment” meaning they would turn the ships to form a wall or blockade to prevent the Al-Iraniya from passing through to Indonesia, and then to Strait of Hormuz, Iran.

“You may approach our ship,” said a voice through the intercom. “We will cooperate and slow down, but you will come unarmed.” Suddenly, the captain was faced with a dilemma. “Should we trust them?” he thought. “Hold the flags, but the order stands. We need to prepare for a fight.”

As he moved to exit the control room, he was stopped by one of his crew-members. “Sir, it’s Steve Macnamara of Five-O. He needs to speak to you immediately.”

The captain grabbed the phone and said, “Steve, any updates?” As he listened, he discovered grim and saddening details about the second attack by a suicide bomber. His face turned cold, he knew his family went there every weekend for lunch at around 11 a.m. “What time was the attack?”

“11 a.m.” replied Steve on the phone.

“My family,” began the captain. “They go to lunch around that time at Ala Moana.” He was filled with so much fear and concern, that he couldn’t speak. “Will you check up on them and let me know if their alright?” he asked earnestly.

“Of course, I will,” said Steve. “Where are you now regarding the Al-Iraniya?”

“We’re going aboard in about ten minutes,” replied the captain, still thinking about his family. “We’re approaching her slowly, and, she’s come to a halt.”

“The mission is still a go, according to the Prime Minister,” Steve informed. “Captain,” he paused momentarily, “Please be careful on this one. I’m praying for you.” Steve was devout in his faith, and knew that prayer could always solve problems. “Good luck Captain.”

“Thank you Steve.” With that the conversation ended. It was now time to get aboard and seize the ship – unarmed. The captain gathered a team of fifteen men, all preparing to go aboard the liner. Two helicopters from the smaller cruisers picked them up and delivered them onto the deck of the liner. The captain, keeping in mind the uncertainty of this mission, prepared his ships to fire upon the Al-Iraniya should the situation become hostile – even with him still on board.

As he got out of the chopper, Ahmed Kanwar – the head of the crew – approached him. “As-Salamu Alaykum,” said Ahmed to the captain, an AK-47 slung to over his shoulder. “Captain, how may we be of service to you and your beloved nation,” he said, in a sly, almost sarcastic voice.

“Sir, we need to search your ship,” responded the captain bluntly. “We have orders from the government to inspect your liner for any traces of illegal arms and any other device which may have been used in recent attacks on Hawai‘i.” The captain’s voice was stern. He was not going to allow the armed crewmen intimidate him in any way. “Please allow us to proceed.”

“Well, you may go right ahead,” responded Ahmed, with a smirk. “But, I don’t believe you will find anything of use here on this ship.” Immediately, the crew of thirty began to investigate the massive liner, ordering all fifty remaining containers to be opened and stripped. They searched cabins below, the engine room, even the control towers where they were given dirty looks by the crew on board. Let it be noted, that each crew member carried some form of weaponry, and was holding them very tight – prepared to kill at moment’s notice.

“Sir, we’ve found some weapons on board your ship, besides the ones your holding,” said the captain. “Please explain what they are for?”

“Well, I don’t have to explain anything to you captain,” said Ahmed. “But, if you must know, the Iranian government allots us weaponry to protect our ship from pirates.” He paused and looked the captain up and down. “Or foreigners,” he said.

“Well, I’m going to have to ask you to please hand them over to us,” said the captain. He didn’t want the chance of these weapons being handed to terrorists for further acts of violence.

“Captain,” said Ahmed. “We do not work for you, or serve your government. We are agents of the Islamic Republic of Iran.” Ahmed was adamant in not handing over anything to the Hawaiians. “Now, I’m going to have to ask you to leave this ship immediately.”

The captain, not wanting to engage – especially when unarmed – radioed in to the main ship to send the choppers back to pick them up. Within two minutes, the helicopters were on the deck and preparing to leave. One by one they got on. At the last second, Captain Kanilehua turned to see Ahmed raise an AK-47 at him. In horror, he tried to jump in the chopper, but was hit multiple times by the rapid fire of the gun. Immediately, all weapons were being fired and the choppers attempted to lift off.

The team pulled the captain into the chopper as bullets zinged past their head, striking the choppers, and ricocheting in every direction. Several others were hit. One sailor was shot in the head as the chopper changed direction, and fell out into the roaring ocean below. As the chopper picked up speed, crew-members on the Al-Iraniya fired an RPG which struck the chopper, exploding in mid-air, incinerating eleven crew-members including the captain.

Another RPG missed the second chopper which landed safely on its base ship. The destroyers immediately fired upon the liner, with a single shot hitting the fuel room causing a major explosion. The liner, whose crew tried to inflict further damage to the Hawaiian people, began to sink slowly. Images of surviving crew-members praising Allah as the sank into the burning oil struck the Hawaiian sailors greatly. And, the image of their beloved captain and fellow crew-members dead in a burning, and now sinking, wreckage hit them extremely hard.

Even if one Hawaiian life had been taken, the crew of the Al-Iraniya would have been extremely pleased. Now, eleven were dead. For those “warriors of the mighty Jihad,” their death was a testament to their loyalty and faith to Allah and their countrymen.

“Commander Macnamara! Come in commander!,” said Commodore Andrew Halsey, the next in command. “Come in, Honolulu!” For a minute, there was complete silence beyond the horrified terror of the crew.

“This is Macnamara!” a voice replied. “Come in Kaleihulu! Come in!” It was the Five-O commander, who stood next to Dr. Carraway and the GIF Team at Five-O headquarters.

“Commander, this is Commodore Halsey. We’ve suffered casualties. We were forced to sink the target.”

“Commodore, tell me what happened?” asked Steve.

“Sir, the captain and the crew were returning after investigating the ships. They tried to confiscate weapons on board the ship, but the crew would not cooperate. They were unarmed.” The commodore slowed down trying to catch his breath. “The enemy opened fire, and then shot an RPG, taking down one chopper. Captain Kanilehua was aboard that chopper. Twelve in total have perished sir.”

“And, the liner is sinking?”

“Yes, sir!”

“We’re sending a team from Hawai‘i and McNernia to your location,” explained the commander. “Please remain in that position and do not move. If any other ships attempt to strike you, you have full authority and discretion to do what you need to. Is that understood?”

“Yes sir!” With that the commodore gathered his crews together, and assessed the situation further. Macnamara and Carraway went off to inform the Prime Minister who was still in Galonica, and the Deputy Prime Minister who was awaiting news of the mission at Washington Place. Neither would believe what just happened, and no one knew how either would react.

Honolulu, Hawaii
Nareen Shan said a pleasant goodbye to the attendant as he walked off the plane into the airport. A tall man, with black hair and heavy stubble on his chin, he looked not out of place among the crowd of people disembarking from the Indian Airlines flight. He had hit no difficulties on the flight; his name wasn't on any no-fly list, nor did he fit the stereotype of a Muslim terrorist. Of course, appearances are deceiving.

He met another man, a Turk who he knew only by the name Yusef, at the terminal. He had a car ready.

"Welcome to Hawaii, brother," Yusef said.

"Thank you," Nareen replied. "You have done well here. I have been following the news reports. Very good indeed." Yusef smiled a predatory smile. The until-now leader of the Warriors' cell in Hawaii was pleased to receive praise from the group's Pacific regional commander.

"I have come to assume direct control of the operation," Nareen continued as they drove away from the airport. "I will, of course, abide by your judgment in most cases. But with the loss of the Al-Iranyia our commander has deemed this operation very, very important."

"I understand." Yusef glanced at his watch as he drove. "You may want to examine the airport behind us." As Nareen turned to look, an explosion tore through the roof of the building, sending a fireball into the sky. The soundwave rushed over them moments later. Nareen looked to Yusef, his eyes demanded explanation.

"A martyr," Yusef explained. "He was never intended to make it past security. The destruction of their precious monitoring equipment will sow much confusion and cripple their security here. They may even be forced to shut down the airport for some time, hurting their economy."

"Very good," Nareen said appreciatively. "Very good indeed. The camps taught you well, my friend."

Yusef smiled. "We have many more plans, brother. In shaa'Allah, we will bring these infidels to their knees within the year."

Delfino, Galonica
Executive Mansion (Chairman's Study)
Chairman Vo Ludwig Arouj I

"Well, Prime Minister, how'd you like the State of Galonica address?" I asked him through a translator.
"It was very good, Chairman."
"I intend to stay involved until this crisis is resolved. Just keep either me or Bill informed."
"Bill?"
"Bill Glencoe, the Minister of Foreign Affairs."
"Okay."
"Hopefully you and your wife will enjoy your stay. I intend to take you two on a tour of the country."
"Sounds good. When do you-"
"Sir, a wire from Ambassador Taber."
"Thanks. Oh, this is Fred Golder, my Deputy Chief of Staff. Fred, this is Prime Minister Makahanaloa." I looked at the wire. "There's this war in Gearria right now. I want a military base there to be prepared for the next war. Hiram Walker, the Premier of Southern Gearria, is alright with it as long as we pay for it - I'm willing to do that - he wants access to it, and he wants to evict my troops at a moment's notice. GPA troops'll be going through some serious security, and he's got another thing coming if he wants to evict my troops at a moment's notice. He's got the RGN occupying the Newport Peninsula for the next century and the Demphorians occupying part of it for the next century. The Demphorians have some honor, but the RGN is under this hatemonger named Jake Featherston. I have a fear that Featherston'll want more land. I'm also expecting a genocide on the Newport Peninsula, those Freedom Party devils have the entire RGN government under their control as far as I know. They hate Communists, and Southern Gearria being a Communist country, there's going to be a lot of hate. Now it's only a matter of time until the Traillopians draft a treaty. I also hear the RGN have gained an embassy in your country?"
"Yeah. Think I ought to rescind it?"
"I don't know about that. Just make sure that the RGN and Galonican staffs keep as far apart as possible."
"I'll see what I can do. So, when do you expect to take this tour?"
"I'm thinking a day or two."
