Close friends and relatives will often discuss finances - including incomes - to seek advice or relay their problems, which is generally acceptable. Flaunting income or asking someone how much his/her income is without viable pretext is considered to be rather rude.

Also, asking for the monetary value of gifts/favors is highly frowned upon.

Pretty much this.

No. Most people discuss monetary matters quite openly. Recently there was a cafe fight spawned over how much Members of Parliament should be made.

Person 2: Indeed comrade, the modernization of the Armed Forces is providing countless jobs. I myself shall be upgrading my kitchen

Person 2: Silence traitor
/normally followed by some intense beating.

Laaplanders will discuss money and money mattersfairly openly, but it is considered impolite to ask how much money someone makes.

Openness and information are regarded as critical to the functioning of the free market, so economic matters here, including salaries, are discussed openly.

It's not taboo to casually talk about money like how one store has expansive chairs. But to talk as a capitalists and to talk about stock markets, gambling, and talk of getting rich is taboo.
Chece does not have a stock market and gambling is banned.
