While the name of our nation's currency may seem difficult to pronounce, due to seemingly lacking any vowels, it is actually extremely easy.

Gdyn is pronounced ɡɑːdʒɪn, in IPA format, or roughly ga-jin (with a hard g as in gang).

Although it should be noted that the official abbreviation of the currency, which is simply GDY, is intended to be read as each letter individually, although it is commonly read as gdyn as one would expect.

“Florin” is pronounced /ˈflɔɹɪn/ [flŏ-rĭn] in English and /flɔʁɛ̃/ in French. The florin is itself divided into 100 cents (/sɛnts/ [sĕnts]), which are commonly referred to as “sous” (/su/) to avoid confusion with the identical French word for “hundred”.
