Traditional Cheap Toys of your nation

Postby Kalaspia-Shimarata » Sat Sep 10, 2011 5:45 am

Greece has Kombolói, Russia has a Babushka (doll) and (although not origional intended use) Australia (aborigionals) has the boomerange. What is your nation's traditional cheap toy. I wanted to get this thread in before I forgot about it, but haven't come up with something for Kalaspia-Shimarata yet, but nethertheless, what does your country have?
Kalaspia-Shimarata's flag represents the Union between K&S. The dark blue represents the sea and the light blue represents the sky. In Kalashi language considers light blue and dark blue to be different colours. England colonised, and unified K&S, between 1774 and 1953, and English, light blue and dark blue are considered to be the same colour. Therefore, the contrast between dark blue and light blue represents the union, but the differences between K&S where as blue being two but simultaneously one colour represents K&S being two, but simultaniously one entity. The opposite to the symmetry represents the unity and indipendance of K&S, whilst also representing the Kalashi culture of opposite symmetry.KS is 75% Christian, hence the cross.

Sal and Sally the Seal dolls are pretty standard traditional toys for a child in Tsvarchi. A child deprived of such a toy is said to miss out on a pivotal part of growing up. They're pretty cheap too, at approximately L0.97.

The traditional cheap toy of our nation is broken glass and jagged metal. Nowadays, kids these days seem to favor video games, but if you ask any elder, they'll tell you the same: Broken glass and jagged metal, AND WE LIKED IT.

we don't have any one particular traditional toy but the following are some common toys in gwrachbys
toy weapons (swords, bows, ect) though commonly hand crafted out of scrap wood there is a small market of traditionaly hand crafted toy weapons ranging from plain and simple to very ornate these dateback to the early periods of the nation where every citizen was expected to have basic knowledge in warfare in the event of an invasion.

also commonly popular are stuffed dragons, toy boats and mechanical puzzles

Plastic waterguns in garish colours are a popular cheap toy. Also, ragdolls.

A traditional, cheap toy in Ruskarkand is a wing trail, something that one clips onto the end of their wing and then sets off flying with. (Being Dragons and all, this is a lot easier than it sounds)
As they fly, the wind catches the clip and an interchangable vapor is released, this vapor is harmless to the environment and anyone who happens to inhale it due to anomalous nature of the stuff inside the clip, it fades over a period of half an hour.
With it, Dragonkin draw all sorts of things in the sky.
Including the very crude, childminded drawings that you see every now and then.

Dead bodies.

To further elaborate: A tavan's venom contains a fairly effective preservative, so that it needn't eat every kill right away. Young tavans, besides using this attribute in its intended way, will also hunt animals they think are attractive, playing with their corpses like human children might play with dolls.

Best of all, it's free!

Figurines made from wood, metal, and stone, marbles, rag dolls, shiny rocks, mechanical puzzles, and wooden toy weapons all include some traditional "cheap toys".

Bit of a contradiction. Dinosaurs playing with toy dinosaurs. How does that work?

Anyways, in Servoth it's the tin soldier.

Dinosaur children just like playing with little plastic depictions of their prehistoric ancestors.

The venerated legendary and recalled in the modern era: Stick.

That's right, the stick. Go dig a hole, go have a sword fight, imagination and a Stick; you can do it.
