The minimum legal working age in Regnum Albion is 18 years. The reason behind this is twofold: firstly, education is mandatory up until that age. In order for educational policies to take the best effect, the government has deemed that schoolchildren should not hold part-time jobs. Secondly, taxes are only paid by those over 18 years old. So as to avoid tax complications, the government has simply prevented any earnings being made before the tax-paying age.

The exception to the minimum age is in theatre and film. Minors may be employed as actors or actresses, but their earnings are paid to their parents who are obliged to establish a trust fund for their children. In this way, the earnings are counted in the parents' tax receipts.
