How does your justice system work?

Postby Gyflada » Fri Aug 05, 2011 8:40 am

Just like the title - How does your justice system work?

In Gyflada, there are three types of court.
Community Court for things such as Graffiti. These courts can only give 'Community Service', 'Fines' and 'Minim Prison Sentences'. The fines go up to ƒ950.00, CS Hours go up to 450, and the Prison Sentences go up to 3 years.
State Court - These deal with all our cases, that the Community court does not. These have no restrictions on their sentences, apart from physical punishments, which are outlawed. The State Court can not give the Death Penalty either.
Crown Court - This is the highest level of court, and deals with Constitutional Cases, Genocide, Mass Murder (under 15 people, but more than 3 people), Treason. This court has the same powers as the State Court, but can also give the Death Penalty.

Only the King may sign Death Warrants, and may pardon them.
Please refer to my nation IC as the Kingdom of Edom or Edom.

The Civil Court of the Republic settles all non-criminal disputes.

The Criminal Court of the Republic handles all cases of a criminal nature.

There is no Death Penalty.

Criminal disputes are settled while they are occurring.

Civil disputes are very rarely settled in the same manner. Otherwise, every community has their own way of dealing with these things. Some use a court system, others by decree of their leader, and whatever else.

Morriah Coast is a utopian society, and everyone understands if you break the law, you pay. In fact, stepping out of line will get you killed; this is because Morriah Coast runs on a highly efficient system, and one flaw risks destroying the whole system. Flaws are dealt with quickly and without hesitation.

But crime in Morriah Coast is extremely rare, as everyone knows their place and understands the idea of keeping our nation stable. There has been no deaths because of crime in decades.

In other words there is no true justice system.
