Reverberations echoed around the Lazarus region today when civilisation restarted in the Empire of Happan, more than eight years after a suspected electromagnetic event at a government funded energy research facility placed virtually the entire nation in a coma. The reawakening has come as a surprise to many, not least the citizens of Happan who must now pick up the pieces of their lives in a world that has changed beyond their comprehension. The government has been quick to restore order in the now architecturally outdated capital city of Vaneikauro, though the Empire is under martial law for the time being whilst government scientists establish what happened. The status of the Empire's once formidable defensive capabilities remains unclear. More to come on this breaking news.

Following Happan’s long absence of communication with the rest of the world the Dominion of Sarrowquand is eager to learn of the current state of the environment and ecology in Happan.

Speaker, the Empire should note the condition of its environment and the natural balance of life within it has always taken precedence over the nation itself. The environment and ecology have ticked over in an apparently normal fashion, though a number of jungle settlements in particular appear to have become somewhat overrun by vegetation. Wildlife populations are thriving and appear to be healthy - which is a relief and has been a major concern to the government in the absence of Imperial moderation. The Empire suggests this relative preservation of the status quo indicates the Imperial populace to be adept at living in harmony with their surroundings.

The Emperor himself has been informed of your concern and has requested me to relay his wishes for our two nations to exchange envoys in order to learn more about each other. The Emperor appreciates the world will have changed significantly since the Event and wishes to be brought up to speed on the political arrangements of the modern day.
