National Costume of your nation

Postby Seleucid Orient » Thu Jul 28, 2011 8:40 pm

tell about your nation's national/ traditional clothing and post pictures if you want to.

In Seleucid Orient, Greek men often wear a charaspe, a wraparound cloak that fastens at the back. it is a business formal alternative. it is usually colorful and is worn with boots, trousers, a dress shirt, ascot, and shako type cap.

woman in islamic evirisan wear a maahreq, which is basically two folds of voluminous cloth pinned together at the top of the head with a gauzier, breathable fabric for the face. at the hips it is pinned together

Tartan and scarves are extremely popular and used to identify an individual's linguistic community.

Although we're largely a nudist country, traditional Tsvarchivan attire is like so:

Traditional Tsvarchivan attire is very elaborate, with striking patterns and bright colors. It also tends to be airy and lightweight, as well as loose fitting.

Our traditional costumes come from mostly Greek, Serb, and Turkish backgrounds and have been tinkered with over the years.

OOC: Credit to whoever made pics, as for who found them, look at Neomoskull who found them on Google.

The Ancient civilizations on Cornelia were very different in culture, so I decided to post the Old Concorich dress during the 13th century.

This is the traditional clothing of the Concorich tribes female warriors during the year 1309.

The Male Concorich Scholar of 1324 was also a very well known outfit during the time.

Today both outfits are available for purchase along many other historical clothing, the national costume however is not official however these two are the highest sellers today.

There is no "traditional" clothing of Meridians. Clothing is stylish and trendy. However, Meridians do tend to favor clothing that is loose about the body, and light.

Um...I have always wanted to develop traditional cloathing but never had any ideas. Can someone who knows about fashion please help?
Kalaspia-Shimarata's flag represents the Union between K&S. The dark blue represents the sea and the light blue represents the sky. In Kalashi language considers light blue and dark blue to be different colours. England colonised, and unified K&S, between 1774 and 1953, and English, light blue and dark blue are considered to be the same colour. Therefore, the contrast between dark blue and light blue represents the union, but the differences between K&S where as blue being two but simultaneously one colour represents K&S being two, but simultaniously one entity. The opposite to the symmetry represents the unity and indipendance of K&S, whilst also representing the Kalashi culture of opposite symmetry.KS is 75% Christian, hence the cross.

To promote national unity in our glorious nation, all Vaucu civilian men dress in the Popular Uniform*. Designed and commissioned by our Eternal Leader Va Va Voom**, the Popular Uniform reminds us all that we are one people, who stand united against an enemy that would undo us all! Vaucu civilian women wear the female variant*** of the Popular Uniform, reminding us of the superiority of our great society!

* - Consists of muddy red cap, muddy red long sleeve jacket, muddy red slacks, and muddy red shoes.
** - Not actually designed by Va Va Voom.
*** - Consists of muddy red hairtie for regulation length hair, muddy red hobble dress, muddy red tights, and muddy red shoes.

Depends on where you are in the federation, proper imerians wear the tunics and baggy pants they have always done while vedians wear their kilts, swalinese wear those Asian robes chinamen tends to wear, the redskins in Vinland wear those revealing sleeveless tunics and funny hats worn down there while the niggers in Africa and Gustavsland are just as happy to wear a simple loincloth

a kind of unisex t-tunic, only with a lot of pockets, is the common and preferred garb, except during adolescence, when more erotic attire is frequently chosen. kilts are also of course quite popular among all ages, allowing as they do, freedom of movement and comfort for people with actual tails as most cameroi have. pants and trousers are almost never seen for the same reason. the challenge of tailoring for tails, without exposing the nether/ventral oroface, which is considered ugly and unpleasant.

colors and markings as bright and intricate as our natural fur, are of course popular, as are lively colors. greens and browns are considered male in many cultures, while pumpkin and turquoise as fabric colors compliment the female. this perception is by no means universal, even within cameroi, but it is fairly common.
truth isn't what i say. isn't what you say. isn't what anybody says. truth is what is there, when no one is saying anything.

Dagnian clothing is extremely simple, usually consisting of one piece for the main outer garment. Women generally wear caftans, often hooded, while men wear thobes. Colors are usually muted, though women can get away with more in this respect.

I wouldn't say I "know about fashion". I don't think that's necessary. You might start with the RL influences on your nation's culture and borrow from their national costumes, or those of their neighbours. Mix n match. Find something you like. I couldn't find a picture of the overall "look" I was after, so my national costume article gives pictures of single items. It is left to the reader to put it all together.

There is no traditional costume of the nation per se, though there are traditional outfits of some of the various native peoples (i.e Khalkans, Dragons, Serpens, and Reptilian Tribes). They vary greatly in style, function, and appearance.
