The country is a federation and regional and local governments enjoy wide autonomy. At the federal level regions have veto power.
I would say is a decentralised state

Almost entirely centralized; the individual Districts have ostensible sovereignty in their affairs with only minimal input from the federal government, although the division into Districts is more to ease mailing addresses and citizen documentation than to decentralize power. The District governments are simply extensions of the federal government.

The government of TurtleShroom is brutally centralized. All aspects of government are locked away in the capital city of Jonesboro.

The only decentralized institutions are school, police, and census districts (among many others), and semi-autonomous municipalities/cities.

There IS a good side to this, though. The government is far away, and TurtleShroom has low population density. Enforcement of the law is primarily in the hands of the local sherrif and his Mayberry entourage. The agrarian isolation of TurtleShroom's largest chunk of society pretty much gives an oxymoronic sense of independence and freedom, if you're not breaking the law.

The police are well-funded and armed. They are abundant and plentiful. They will crack down on corporate CEOs and little farmers with equal passion, and are always looking for liquor and crime. Especially liquor.

If you commit a crime, any crime, expect the police at your door within a month or less. The more serious the crime, the faster they come.

However, the federal government is very active and always up to something. The police are trained to know the law front and back, and the federal government is very in tune with the police.

So are we centralized? Lord knows we are... -but TurtleShroom is so rural and isolated that we give an air of decentralization to a foreigner.

Luthoria is and pretty much always has been a very centralized state. A large part of the reason for this is the fact that when it first began to expand it was the only Christian state in the entire region, and thus every single nation, kingdom, and tribe conquered had to be converted. To prevent uprisings it was decided that only Christians could be nobles, own land, or hold officer (the laws are long since gone), and all high ranking dukes were assigned realms by the emperor himself. This ensured that all of the wealth and power was in the hands of Christian allies of the emperor.

After the fall of the first empire and rise of the second, a problem arose, the existence of three monarchies all with their own realms, and the lands conquered after they had been united. In order to allow the emperor and kings control over lands that were seen as theirs, they were allowed to choose their own dukes who would in turn appoint lower nobles, while the lower levels of government, and the independent area conquered after the three were unified would have leaders chosen by elections.

If the scale is
1-10 Centralisation
1-10 Decentralisation

The Kingdom of Yohannes will be at 8 Decentralisation

As a federation of nineteen constituent countries (sixteen monarchical countries (five grand duchies, three duchies, six principalities and two regencies)) and three royal cities), the Kingdom of Yohannes is not a country in its own sense, as opposed instead to a collection of nineteen independent southern Nordstormian (a region in northern Judea beside the Nordstormian Sea) countries.

Each of these countries maintains their own ministries, governments and economic systems. However, to increase production and trading efficiency, and to standardise import and export quota, a strict set of economic unitary measure, with the establishment of a customs and monetary union under the framework of "one currency, nineteen countries", Yohannes' reputation as one country or nation-state in the strictest sense, is reinforced within the mind of the international community.

Ironically, one of the most taboo thing which one will find upon visiting the royal federation, or simply known as the Kingdom of Yohannes, is to call its citizens "Yohannesian", instead of calling these citizens by their respective country's demonym, for example to call citizen within the Grand Duchy of Lindblum, lindblumer.

The King of Yohannes, Aurel III, has tried ever since his reign to bring together a unitary feeling of being one, through the framework and unity of one Yohannesian nation-state, alas so far it has not succeeded.

We are centralized mainly due to the fact that, despite our huge geographic size, we have only one major city.

Valcluse was decentralised during the late 1970's and the central government handed over administration of many things to provincial governments.

Today, the provincial governments control:
-Education
-Healthcare (mostly private and some public)
-Infrastructure
-Services
-Transport
-Finances

Each of these is controlled by a Provincial Department. For example, the Department of Education in the Province of Alpes-Maritimes. It answers to the Ministry of Education which provides basic standardised legislative framework which allows provincial governments some flexibility in administering their own education departments without being completely different from another province.

This is the case in CEV, mainly owing to the lessons of Imperial Manila.

Very Decentralized. Only thing the Federal government fully covers is Defense and Foreign Relations. Most all else is handled by the State and District Governments.

Somewhat mixed. The true government power and authority, of course, rests solely within the Royal Palace in Canterlot. However, Her Divine Majesty permits the various towns and villages to run their own affairs, up to a point.

It is pretty equal in my Nation. The Proletarian Council has the most bearing nationwide, but each town has their own proletarian council (Called People's Soviets) that has a large amount of power by themselves. We try to keep an equal, decentralized approach to society. However, without a "Top Dog",all the People's Soviets would constantly argue and could lead to civil war (which has happened more than once....) So that's why we have the system we have now.And We are Eternally Thankful For It!

Very decentralized by nature. Following the destruction of the Kawaiian homeland, the Kawaiian people divided into approximately 60 tribal groups and spread throughout the world. Each tribe is led by its Patriarch and is effectively autonomous, the sole thing uniting them being the Kawaiian faith that defines our nation.

What passes for a Kawaiian central "government" is:
  1. Our Council of Elders, a body of representatives appointed by the Patriarchs from each tribe, who meet to discuss and interpret questions of Kawaiian religious law put forward by Kawaiian citizens when a Patriarch's legal ruling (Patriarchs serve as both Chief Executive and Chief Justice of their tribe) is appealed.
  2. The Happiness Police, the Kawaiian religious police, who answer to the Council rather than to the local Patriarch.
  3. The Kawaiian WA mission, which oversees relations between the various Kawaiian tribes and foreign nations.

There is no national-level Kawaiian military. Each tribe maintains its own Lashkar-Tong, or tribal militia, who defend their tribe from attacks by unfriendly non-Kawaiians in their area. Some Kawaiian tribes have entered into agreements with foreign host nations, whereby the tribe is permitted to settle peacefully in an area of the host nation. Often, members of a settled tribe's Lashkar-Tong will serve in the host nation's military as a form of payment for the right of settlement.

Largely centralised. Any national subdivisions are simply creatures of the central government with powers appropriated as necessary. Cantons and, at a lower level, Arrondissements exist through statute, not constitutional, law. Though they are afforded some powers and duties, they are not sovereign

Decentralised: Bears generally don't take too kindly to being told what to do, anyway, so the Clan or Sept -- within which everybody is at least theoretically related to everybody else, in an extended family -- tends to work a bit better than anything more centralised or 'theoretical' in its basis would...
