Does your nation still operate armored cars? (all techs)

Postby Knoxcrest » Mon Jul 25, 2011 5:00 pm

A simple thread, does your nation's armed forces still employ the use of armored cars? Or does your nation consider them obsolete?

Knoxcrest, being PT, still operates an armored car, the Ehrhardt E-V/4, designed by Germany, used in WW1.

The Russo-Spanish Empire still deploys actual cavalry so what does that make you think? Yes; we still deploy armored cars; though of no traditional layout in mind.

If the Vextra 105 counts as an armoured car, then yes, we do.

The only armored car the Montiarian Empire employs the use of is the M1117 Armored Security Vehicle.

Yes, indeed, we do use armored cars. The armored car currently in service is the M11 Dromeosaurus:

That would be a utility vehicle, but it can be modified into an armored car, just like the humvee.

the VPK-3927 and a variant of the Ural-4320. Improvised armored Ural 4320s are also common as the new production armored models slowly replace them.

The Speranzian military no longer employs them for military use. Government usage, however, is still common in federal vehicles. Older model Cadilliacs are often bought from other countries for cheap prices, then completely revamped and fitted to a new structure.

gravity modulation technologies having been widely available since long before cameroi was formed, the answer is simply no.

while anti-gravity equivalents COULD be built with available and existing technologies there is no real reason or need.
if and when, ever there were to come again a time of war, then of course, undoubtedly they would be.
anti-gravity ambulances and other emergency response vehicles do exist, as do anti-gravity 'motor homes' which are also the same form factor as lifeboats on deep space vessels.
at any rate, these latter would most likely be the prototypes of their form factor if they were.

Many military transports are armored. We do not use armored cars for things like money transports, as people have no incentive to rob them because our socialist nation provides them with everything they need.

Our military has armored cars, but they are not attached to any units, and are used primarily as personal transport. They are basically just the same stock civilian models used by our regular citizens. If anything, armored cars, and even tanks, are more common in civilian use than military use here, given that they do not operate in the rough terrain outside cities. For this reason we still have Yaksmen, the yak dragoons.

The Greater Latican Imperial Army still uses armoured cars in the Form of the AMX-10 RC and the VBL scout car, and both of which, when appropriately armed operate as mobile tank destroyers

Yes, and they are attached to all ground motorized divisions. They are used as escorts for APCs till the APC unloads its troops. Once the troops are unloaded the armoured car acts like a small IFV.

Yes, the RSDF operates modern armoured cars.

Many of the local commandos operated older variants for training and patrol.

We use many types of armored cars to transport VIPs, soldiers, and supplies, including the Getish made Cougar Armored Car and the Getish made MX-12 Armored Car.

Our military has no land vehicles, so no. Any transport that we would need is all aerial (And for good reason-- being the only nation on a particular planet, any war we would fight would likely be in space).

Civilians are more likely to have armored cars than the military.

Since The Maritime Castle-State of Dailey's only landmass above water is it's capital city we have no use for cars. but armored PT boats and armored civilian transport subs are used for transport to and from the under water city domes of our grand empire.

A Minoan armoured car is based on a four-wheel drive. It's like a tank but with all weather tyres used by rally cars. Suitable mainly for hard or dry terrain.
