Cruithnig was born out of a bloody, 4 year civil war. Urban siege warfare has left its mark on the people. A dour sense of humour, a prevalent siege mentality and a strong xenophobic attitude describes its people. They are intensely loyal to each other and crime is non-existent. Being overweight is frowned upon, military competence is a measure of character.

Red Tide is an oligarchy, with the ruling body known as the 'Central Institution'. The Director of the Central Institute changes constantly. It follows no political ideology, so stop mistaking it for a communist state, thank you very much.

Alehkkmincon, a fresh derivational product of the Age of Minconnian Anarchy (1976-2001), is a somewhat somatically young, politically and economically humble, yet a dangerously charismatic military nation aimed at restoring glory to the Minconnian peoples' honor and revitalizing the world to Alehkkminconian global interests for generations to come and go.

The emotional status and objectives the country has come to revolve around, is made up of a no-nonsense push for progress and a positive (however, studly and a bit anguish) mental attitude that things will change for the better and Alehkkmincon's ultimate doctrines will prevail over all foes, guilty or innocent.

In Minconnia's span of history, capitalist and communist politics have ruined the country in a number or detrimental ways that most don't want to remember, so therefore, cultivated from the damages came a new middle-wing ideology; a new and enlightened form of a Third Way answer was created, to once-and-for-all combat the problems in the nation's communities on the Suhraanosian continent. Named Zenithalism by Alehkk The Founder, it combined the arts of left-wing policies, neoliberal free markets, and a strong nationalist symbol of unity among all races, cultures, backgrounds, and religions in Alehkkmincon.

Henceforth, Alehkkmincon can be described as polite, prideful, hope-filled, glorifying, and mysterious, and therefore, it can also be known by its revulsive behavior towards the arrogant flocks of the world, endlessly striving for dominance and name on Earth, and ruthlessly trigger-happy against genocidal and oppressive police nations. In short, the nation is somewhat a self-righteous dark vigilante that tirelessly struggles for recognition, redemption, and regimentation of the world.

Marians are known for their jingoistic patriotism and absolute intolerance of anything outsider. Outsiders call them narrow-minded, but make no mistake - they will be the first to adopt a technological innovation if they see how it can contribute to furthering their supremacy.

Strangely enough, outsiders that have had the courage of visiting Terra Mariana report being treated as guests of honour. Marians value hospitality and will regard outsider visitors as temporary burden deserving the best treatment (if only to prove that they are superior to everyone in this as well). As long as the visitor knows his limits, he remains welcome.

Other than that, Marians are seen by outsiders as cool, uncompromising and very arrogant, having a sense of humour comparable to a block of steel.

So, in summary the emotional state of our nation is complicated.

It is normally open and friendly, with some exceptions. Violence is the norm, and two people getting into a friendly brawl is seen as normal. Beyond that, hugs are the proper way to greet new people, as well as to show affection for friends, so it is pretty friendly.

What is the emotional state of your nation like? Is it warm and open, cold and oppressed, or peaceful and serene? Are there any physical signs of it, or does one just feel it?

Most Voronda Citizens, asked if they considered themselves warm, would tell you it was fine, they had their coats woth them.

For ten years of civil war the most barbaric deeds imagineable were committed, and we are generally proud to have gotten rid of those who committed them. We havfe rebuilt the nation, the Free Territory, from the two districts of Brokdorf that started the rebellion who first called themselves that name. The Free Territory (FT) is more than a name: it is what we have archieved! In the mind of most citizens the Free Territory is not the name of the nation but an institution that hopefully will one day bring the rights and ideas we have forged to others as well. Other humans who still live in oppression. You are a Citizen of the FT who lives in Vorond, the latter having mutated to almost a geographic name only.

First visiting our nation many foreigners fin d the atmosphere desturbing. The Vorondians are quite unconcerned ahout being polite or respecting you for your beliefs: anything that seems stupid will lead to you being called an idiot, when you fall over a banana-peel they will help you up while breaking in a full-blown laugh. It's funny? We laugh. You wear strange clothes? We point. Everything (and I DO mean everything) is open for criticism - who cares if your squeamish feelings are hurt, all that matters is that there is a chance to learn something new. The next thing would be the approach to behaviour and actions that seem as they ought to be illegal but do not harm anyone. Nowadays the gleaming white concrete of buildings on ground-lrevel is used as a kind of free blackboard: discussions are held on it, ideas written and demolished by argument.
That is because things that don't seem worthy of legislation, like the shape of your car or your ham-radio, are simply not legislated at all. The other people will take care of informing you that your taillight os broken, and it's rather logical to fix it, so why have a law. You're not an idiot, you'll fix it. And if you don't the others will tell you to.

Physical signs? Well, clothing tends to be utilitarian to the extreme, and you'll never see a tie. What's a tie for anyways, you can well work without one, can you? If you want to - go ahead, get a "desk-noose" and have fun. The others will propably staple it to your desk if you fall asleep though. Not even the military wears actual uniforms, but rather a maxture of various garments in camouflage, the only general idea being the same one as behind developing a new camo-pattern. Be less visible, carry your crap as comfortable and quiet as possible, and maintain all in working order, who gives a crap if your boots are polished. But do something stupid and you WILL be yelled at. Summertime in the southern areas means naked people for instance, and even more so at the beach.
Rights that were fought for over a decade are regarded as natural (as in "the sky is blue, the speech is free") by todays youth, but diminishing or even criticizing them will get you dragged to a militia station. "This clown told me I had no right to call him an idiot, and he didn't even have a single argument suggesting he wasn't one!"

Foreigners are mostly seen as either poor idiots who don't know better or as oppressive scumbags. One particular incident involved a foreign couple dragging two students to a militiaman, for "viciously attacking us and our religious beliefs". It turned out they were visiting from a "christian nation" (of the fundamentalist kind) and had told the two 16-year-olds to stop committing sin (kissing each other) in public. Imagine their surprise as they were instead arrested themselves for manhandling the young couple.

One of the most common occurances is a public debate: they attract others, and often generate an impromptu conference on a street-corner or a park. If the issue interrests you you're invited to participate. That although leads to another issue that some vorondians see with worry: the younger generation is absolutely foul-mouthed, swear-words have changed to simply a form of stronger adjectives: calling someone an idiot is still an insult, but a much lessened one that is laughed off and dissipated by argument. Example: in Public transport it is expected that seats are freed for those needing them, walking disability qualifies for instance. being 65 years old though while seemingly able to walk just fine does not. Thus: "Fuck off, grandpa, you can walk just fine." - "You little asshole, move it." and then the debate is on: the old guy would be expected to explain just why he cannot stand.
This might seem harsh for outsiders, but in our culture it compares to a civilized debate in any other. The main factor is the fact that5 the older person would actually be expected to explain himself. There were instances of a debate wether to open the window in the bus or not stretched for several hours.

Street-musicians merrily hammering away - and being bombarded with rubbish if they fail to impress the audience - are aoother regular occurrene. Painters working simply on a building-wall may also seem somewhat strange to foreigners.

One other thing is the expansion on the idea of a public library: there's the public music-hall. Instruments, cared for by custodians, are open for the public use. You want to try to play the Theremin but cannot afford or build one? No Problem! Music is a big, big part of our culture. In general anyone is expected to at least try himself at some cultural activity...paint, write, play music, forge an axe...everything goes, but you have to try.

Short answer: The Vorondians come over as pissed-off, argumentative, antisocial barbarians who generally don't give a f**k about what you think of them. They seem to like it themselves though, and have a rugged sense of honesty about them. Magniloquent, honest, loud and of an almost endearing rudeness that seems to stem from them simply speaking their mind without caring for such foreign notions as politeness, they seem out-going and generally friendly.

There is actually a very interesting contrast in the psyche of my nation. Most of the older citizens who lived through the 1975-1982 civil war and the aftermath tend to be tough grim people, who think nothing of metaphorically of even literately slashing someone's throat if they or their loved ones are threatened or if they think it might allow them to gain an advantage over their competition. This has led to several government decisions that while labelled as questionable by the rest of the world, were accepted or even applauded in Sciox.

On the opposite of the spectrum though the younger citizens tend to be upbeat and cheerful, a result of the incredible population and economic boom in the 90s. With a much higher level of education, they are much more understanding of other cultures and hence more welcoming to foreigners and are also more critical of some of the governments more extreme measures, although many similar actions will probably still be undertaken when their generation reaches the halls of power.

Amongst countrymen and others from the empire our people are very open and friendly. There is a sense of enjoying every moment with each other, and being pragmatic towards problems.

But as a society we are deeply scarred... and thus is the reason for a distrust of foreigners and a general unwillingness to become involved in foreign affairs.

Remember Rhodesia.

To each other, Thuraskis are friendly. However, the most they show outsiders is a grudging respect, with anything more than that being nigh-impossible on a group level. However, they still try to work in unison with whomever they have to, a side effect of both a war-torn history (strength in numbers) and years of government propaganda urging people to work for the collective, not the individual.

Depending on where you go, you'll experience any of the following:
  • Rural serenity (even in the biggest cities) and contentment
  • Sobriety
  • That sort of feeling you get right before a huge storm comes
  • The sense you're in Mayberry or a hick town, no matter where you go
  • Homogenic harmony, as if the nation was its own living being with one mind
  • An air of fantasy or unnatural-ness: the talking turtles and mushrooms
  • A general suspicion of leisure
  • Work ethic
