We were invaded by the United States in 2001, as a response to 9/11. We inflicted such severe casualties on their military that they were forced by the general population of the US to withdraw. We have also had to invade Mosulistan, our neighbor to the Southeast, due to their invasion of our mutual neighbor of Al-Sadria. So yeah, you can say war is in our blood...

Conscription in Durgonia has been inforced since 1843 Originally it was emplaced to aid the Professional army in Combat manueveres but during the war Of 1905 (The Durgo-Patania war) it was stepped up to aid in victory. After the war ended 2 years later conscription was maintained out of fearof a second war, when this war did not manifest the President decided to maintain conscription for al men aged 16-20 After which the soldier kept there rifle and fatigues. Originally the teenagers were only trained in soldiering and combat with further options being promotion in the military, During the depression of 1985 The conscripts of the year were offered the chance to take up a trade taught by local professionals, These included any trade who offered to teach as part of an economic stimules for the nation. These long standing traditions are seen as good opertunities in modern durgonia. You could fastrack you're way out of the conscription by taking a trade which meant only one year service to the military or you simply serve you're nation. These traditions have been part of the nation since 1843 and show no signs of stopping.

Patania was a large powerfull nation with a sizable army. They had conquered most of the region using sheer numbers but lost against durgonia mostly because of the tactics used at the battle of Hera Tomi (Her-a-toe-me) the mountain pass in the area made the numbers that patamia used worthless and superior training combined with clever use of nearby terrain to flank the army won the day. The losses suffered by patania were massive.

By royal decree so can a large conscription be made but that is considered something of a last resort as we are quite fine with our volunteer armies as it is.

Conscription is viewed as a form of slavery and therefor outlawed. We have enough volunteers as it is, and we don't need people who don't want to be there in our army.

We use conscription when it is needed, when there are not enough applicants for the military or during war. Currently, we are facing a shortage of voluntary applicants, so we have limited conscription, where some eligible adults ages 18-25 are randomly chosen.

Conscription was abolished in December 2010 but was ammended to a selective service system on July 22, 2011. However, with an 11-million man standing army and the worlds highest defence budget, conscription is seen as completely unnecissary unless nuclear attack.

For the forseeable future, Khodoristan will not only have an all-volunteer military, it will also be in the position to deny some applicants.
