Your nation's Average Family

Postby Antarsia » Sat Jul 23, 2011 12:23 am

In the country, Antarsians live in large houses with 3-4 families in each. Polygamy is legal and popular in Antarsia, and the average family has between 1 to 6 spouses each. children usually match adults in number, and twins and triplets are common. Grandparents, great grandparents, aunts and uncles often live with the family. In the city, many people live in apartment buildings, 1-2 families to a room.

Most people are singles and live alone. There are some couples who live together though, but families with more than one child are extremely rare.

There is such a clear divide in Lovaniyean family standards that only a dual explanation will suffice. In the lower class, because of the incredibly high price of contraceptives and the unattainably high price of sterilization and abortion, families are large and widespread. Any given family will consist of two fathers to a woman, or three women to a single father, depending on the fertility of the women involved. Because of the rising cost of living, people tend to find any excuse they can to live together, even if it's because one's wife got pregnant out of an affair. The offending man will simply move in a provide a boost to the income. The government encourages such blatant sexual miscreance by providing product discounts and tax incentives to mothers of children from multiple fathers. Since the penalties for domestic violence are very high, open sexual relationships are encouraged to allow mothers to gain these incentives without needless tension. Marriage is non-existent for the lower-class, and many monogamous couples are celibate to prove their love.

The upper-class family lifestyle is completely different. These citizens can afford the best in sterilization and the least painful abortions. Contraceptives are only for last-minute engagements. Upper-class women, eternally concerned with convenience, typically adopt if they want a child. Because of this, there are very few pure bloodlines remaining in the upper-class. However; despite their humble origins, adopted children in the upper-class live the same lives as typical upper-class citizens and treat their adopted children with the same respect. Because of this, the rich have found their channels in the bedrooms of the poor, as usual, but with an eerie twist: in time, there will be no upper-class citizen remaining who is not from a lower-class family.

The national mean is 6 People in a household.
Typically a married couple with two to three children, and often enough at least one grandparent, and usually in that situation the Maternal Grandparents. The average number of Incomes in a Nuclear family is 1.7, while in a household consisting of more then two generations, the average number of incomes is a much higher 2.6.
It is not that uncommon to have four generations of a family living in a single home, with more then two grandchildren and their partners and the great grandchildren. In fact, the Average Syreene House is three stories tall, has 6 Bedrooms, 3.5 Bathrooms and usually about 280 square meters in floor area with a two car garage and a storage room taking up the first floor.

Really, this works out great for pretty much everyone involved, although Syreenes are far more attached to their family then others, and often complain of homesickness and loneliness even after only being gone for a few days.

Kalaspia-Shimarata's flag represents the Union between K&S. The dark blue represents the sea and the light blue represents the sky. In Kalashi language considers light blue and dark blue to be different colours. England colonised, and unified K&S, between 1774 and 1953, and English, light blue and dark blue are considered to be the same colour. Therefore, the contrast between dark blue and light blue represents the union, but the differences between K&S where as blue being two but simultaneously one colour represents K&S being two, but simultaniously one entity. The opposite to the symmetry represents the unity and indipendance of K&S, whilst also representing the Kalashi culture of opposite symmetry.KS is 75% Christian, hence the cross.

Typically a husband and wife, with 3-4 children. A grandparent who is widowed may commonly move in with one of their children. Rural families more commonly feature grandparents living with their children, and the presence of more children overall.

A typical Cruithnigan family household in the lower class consists of two parents and at least7 children due to National award scheme which awards families a cash sum for every child sent into either the military or shipbuilding and arms manufacturing industries.

An upper class family consists of just slightly less. Military rank is awarded by quality of breeding, status and education. Therefore, upper class families have an average of 5 children, unusual for wealthy families in today's society because this grants them access to large amounts of military control.

Due to our planet's low reproductive rate resulting from somewhat uneasy living conditions, there are usually 1-2 people living within one apartment loft. With a population of 63 billion, one will find that our planet is an ecumenopolis, with not a single inch of virgin land left untouched. For this reason, we are looking to a star system roughly five light-years away as a possible candidate for annexation so as to support our population.

Grunneraghns (Rural Families)- 68.8% of population
In the average home, there are two cohabiting parents who have three children- 2 girls and one boy is usually the outcome. They live in a modern 3 bedroom lodge in a sparse woodland community where they usually keep many chickens, many guinea pigs a dog, two cats and sometimes a pig. (I mention the pets because Oceanportonians consider them as family). Children go to the nearest state school and the average parents alternate working on their farm with working at the workplace. Children tend to keep living there and keep the house in the family for generations.

Villeaghns (Urban Families)- 10.4% of population
In the average home, there are two cohabiting parents and one child. They live in modern 2 bedroom apartments overlooking the local lake from one side. They tend to own a rabbit or guinea pig. Children go to the nearest state school whilst both parents work in the Financial or Retail District. Children move out at 24 on average.

Banlivineaghns (Sub- urban Families)- 20.8% of population
In the average home, married parents are settled with four children- usually 2 girls and 2 boys. They live in a 5 bedroom home and tend to own a cat. The children will attend the local state school, as the mother usually cleans and cooks and the father earns money. The children will usually move out at 20.

The typical family consists of a father who provides income to the family so they can buy food, clothes, and other things. He is in charge of the house when he's around and helps take care of the family. The mother typically stays home to look after the children and the house. When the dad's not around, she's in charge. As the kids get older, it's typical for the mother to get a job to help the family gain income. Typically, a family has a lot of children, 2-5 for Humans and 5-20 for Non-Humans on average.

Typically there are about 3 or 4 children to a family. They tend to be democratic and families headed by a same sex couple are very common. There is no taboo on children working and never seeing the inside of a school, so everyone can be a bread-winner (self-education and homeschooling are extremely common, with formal in-school education seen as merely a supplement to what is learned in the home and the world).

The type of dwelling can be pretty varied, with the urban/rural population evenly split. Most own some form of transportation, usually a small anti-gravity speeder. They often have dogs and cats, with many other types of pets possible.
